Sportty is Complete!

I just checked with ASKMINI and Sportty has completed production on schedule and is now awaiting transfer to the port! She'll definitely be one of the first convertibles to hit the Bay Area!

She is still at least a month away (given the 21 day boat ride) ... I guess now the hard part of the wait begins!

Just talked to ASKMINI, my MCS is finished production already, one day earlier than the expected due date. :D Did not catch this part clear, I think I was told it is now 'at the port of exit', or 'it is ready to get to the port of exit', I think I heard the prior one.

Anyway, it is getting close to home (though it still be like a month away) !! :D

FS-mini: Since both of our cars were finished on the same day, and both are coming to the Bay Area, we should be able to see if it is faster to order it from a West Coast dealer or from someone on the East Coast/MidWest and shipped. It should be interested.

(And with all the August cars coming to the Bay Area, we should definitely all meet up for a little car caravan somewhere ...) :)

Oh yeah, that's interesting to see. BTW, did you order yours at Mini SF? How long was your wait?

I called ASKMINI and managed to get the same non-helpful a*shole as earlier today. He was quite rude, even when I tried to just get him to tell me what lines Mini was using, and if they had indeed started using NYK for Charleston, too. I think this must have been the same guy BartMack talked to about the same issue (posted in the WW problems thread). Note to all: if you get Toby at ASKMINI - hang up, he's useless and rude. :

I dunno SR you must've hit a nerve wit the Tobe-ster because he's been nothing short of courteous, professional, and informative--all 3 times we've talked. Actually, I dont talk to anyone else. Go Toby  jimbo

Hmmmm.... weird. Someone else said they had problems with him, too. Must be the alignment of the planets and their moons or something... :D

Anyone know how long the boat-ride is?

My MINI is in there somewhere!

Man! just check the WW cargo site, it finally came up with status for my VIN. My MCS is currently at the terminal. However, it is booked for 'Freedom', which is departing on Aug22, meaning another week and half to stay at the terminal. And it is going to Charleston, SC, won't be there until Sept2. So, looks like it needs at least another four weeks to get to the dealership. :(

Anyone of you waited for thiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiissssssssssssss long?
Any chance to be reassign on an earlier ride?

Just looked at the schedule, it's changed, 'Freedom' will be at UK on the 23rd, not 22nd, and at SC on Sept3rd, nor 2nd. :( an additional day to wait.

I did order for Mini SF (they are directly across the street from me!). I ordered at the end of June and was scheduled for a September delivery ... but several people on the list ahead of me did not respond when the time came to put money down and so I got moved up to August. I think it was a little luck and a lot of perseverance. I have a tendency to wander over to the dealer on a regular basis to drool on the cars. :D

I also had put money down at East Bay Mini trying to save the dealer mark-up ... but they wouldn't guarantee me a September spot (and hinted that I could fall to either a October/November). (They also became VERY difficult to communicate with once I requested my money back ... it took a week of calling to get someone to return my calls and refund me.) For me, it was also important to buy my car where I was going to get service on it ... I have an Audi TT now and it has been nothing but pain. San Francisco's Audi dealer contineously tried to get out of doing warranty work on my car and wanted me to take it back to the dealer I purchased it at for anything aside from "normal" maintenance. They were completely wrong ... but it made it a complete headache to deal with.

Sportty, seems you have a big chance winning (your car will arrive here in the Bay Area earlier than mine). Guessing mine takes at least another five to six weeks to get here.

You're not alone. My car finished on Aug 3 and I was originally scheduled to arrive in SC on the 24th of August. Now I don't even know where my car is, so I could get lucky and it could arrive earlier, or I could get unlucky and it could arrive later. The thing that really worries me, though, is that I have to wait for your car to be ready before mine is shipped, too.

Not sure how Classic will do about that, have yours wait for mine, or what. If both shipped together, you need to wait a week for mine to come. If they don't, yours and others go first, mine may need to wait for a full month, if there is only one shippment per month. My situation may be even worse. :(

LOL, yeah because we women all know how fickle you men are! ;)

Now, the good news - I reached my guy at ASKMINI! :D He has been swamped since getting back from vacation, so he hadn't called back yet, but he was more than willing to help once I did get him in person today. I told him about my useless prior conversations and told him I knew that they couldn't see us past being at the dock, but that something strange was going on and could he help. I asked about the news of the NYK line being used instead of WW to California, and was there a chance this was happening to SC-bound Minis, too. He said he hadn't heard anything official about that being the case, but that it was not out of the realm of possibilities. We also discussed how we had been booked on the Patriot, and had arrived super early for it, then all of a sudden we were dropped. He said we may have been pushed to a later ship if over booked, but that since we were not showing up at all in the WW system that it was really weird, and not typical even if we were bumped back. I also told him that when I looked up the booking #, that when we were still booked there were less than 60 Minis, and now there are 132, all arriving 8/4-8/11. He said since it was so weird and not at all typical he would make some calls and find out what's up. He was confident he could some answers from someone, and he will call me back once he finds out anything. And after dealing with him everyday for a week on the anthracite thing, I know he will call - he called back every time then. :D

WooHoo! The ISOLDE has sailed out of Southhampton and my MCS is on it! Scheduled to arrive in NY a week from tomorrow.

FYI: I was able to view the cargo status history at the WW website and it showed that my mini was booked on the ISOLDE the day I ordered it (july 7th). Way to go MOTH! :)

Happy birthday !! Mine was done production yesterday, and now is at Southampton with ' READY TO SCAN AT TERMINAL' on WW site, and soon to be 'RECEIVED AT TERMINAL'. Also, OL just changed to 'AWAITING TRANSPORTATION'. So far, I have no problem tracking any of this information. Possibly mine will be meeting yours at the terminal.

Mwahaha. Got fed up with this BS and decided to do a little detective work. :)

So I first called the NYK Line offices in Charleston listed on their site (843-723-7891). They redirected me to a man named David, who told me I should talk to "Kerr Norton Strachan", another company who deals with this stuff (843-856-1000). When I talked to them they recommend I talk to another K-Line number (843-745-7750), and that they should be able to help me. When I talked to them they said "oh it's a car thing? then you should talk to the car carrier, Wilmington Shipping" (843-971-9270). Finally I got someone on the phone who may be able to help me at Wilmington. I asked him if it was possible to track by VIN and what I could do. I think he gave me a bit of bogus information because he thought it would be in on the Caribbean Highway, but that's a WW ship. I never gave him my VIN though, I just told him I was originally scheduled on the Patriot, and so he figured given the timing that the Caribbean Highway may have my car. He said, however, that once the ship is almost here he would be able to check a VIN to see if it was on there, so he said to call back in a week and he'll have that information.

It's a start! I'm considering calling him back just to ask if there are some other ships coming in I may be on, because I was thinking the Genoa or the Faith were K-Line possibilities.
