If you're car is like mine, it will be sitting on the dock for the next 2 weeks before leaving.

I've been mostly observing this thread and posting on NAM. Recognize some familiar faces ;)

Since there are some of you on the Patriot, figured I'd repost my question here -

The SC Port Authority doesn't have the Patriot listed as docking in the next 30 days. Anyone know why this is? We can't seem to figure out where it will dock Sunday when it arrives!!

Sportty is finally ENROUTE to California!!!! It looks like she left the dock yesterday. Does anyone have any info on which boat she may be on? I called my MA but have not heard back yet.

(Its lookin' like she might make to California around Sept 9th!) :D :D :D

try this:
spoke to askmini and they said that I actually left on 8/16 - there were 2 probable vessels that day:

call sign 3ERP5 Emden K-line
call sign YJYN8 HoJin NYK

now just have to figure out which one is headed for the Canal... will start checking Oceanweather for those two call signs....

getting closer!!

Cadbury,

Don't bother with the guesswork - if you're on a vessel, your dealer can provide you with a sheet that will show which shipping line it was shipped with and a bill of lading number. Then you can call that shipping line and tell them your bill of lading number and they'll tell you which ship. That's what I did.

My Cooper is now sitting on the dock in Southampton. Does anybody have any information on boats heading to the California coast? I don't even know if it is travelling with Wallenius or if it is going via K-line or NYK. It would be nice to know if anybody has any information as to when any ships are scheduled to leave Southampton and heading through the Panama Canal. Thanks. Happy Motorin'.

We're trying. It's very tough. Best thing to do is to ask your MA to call when it's underway, for they'll have that info.

I've been waiting 8 months and the thought of another 2 week wait--on top of a 25 day journey plus delivery from CA to CO--just bristles me  However, somewhere I read that a boat is scheduled to leave for Pt Hueneme the 23rd, but it may be WW and I guess BMW doesn't use them anymore to the west coast. :( agh. I wanna go hide in a cave. Jimbo

From what I have gathered, WW has two ships heading to California. The have one coming into Southampton (and leaving) on the 21st of August, the Don Quijote. They have another one leaving for Cali the following Saturday, the 28th. The Don Quijote is scheduled into Port Hueneme on the 14th of September. Of Course, that is a moot point if BMW won't be shipping to California on WW. But just so you know. As far as K-line vs NYK, I can't get a straight answer out of anybody. The folks at ASK-MINI can only tell me that they have used WW in the past.

see my post earlier - if you're on a ship right now, its either Emden or HoJin... and thanks to mbleau... I will be calling my MA tomorrow to get some real answers!!

Jim

I was at Schomp today and had them check in their order book and their paperwork said that my car was due into the port on 9/05, so you may want to call and check. Also from what I understand the dealer should have the booking number and or the ship info as well but I found this out after I got home from Schomp... So who knows???

Patriot update: It is a couple hundred miles off the coast of New York City as of this writing. If only it were going to New Jersey, but alas it is headed for Charleston, SC, where it is due to arrive on Sunday, which is a day earlier than orignally thought.

Woohoo, according to the port-of-charleston.com vessel schedule, the Caribbean Highway is due one day earlier than originally planned - today! :D

Now, I am very confused by both the ASKMINI automated system and customer service. My car was produced on the 10th, at the port the 12th, trackable at 11th, no longer trackable at 13th, the automated system just changed the status to 'in transit' this morning, but the customer service told me the car just get to the port on 18th, though it was actually there last week.

So, my guess is (hopefully) ... the car was checked in to the system again at the port before loaded on the vessel, so the system refresh that it is at the port since 18th, then now it's in transit. Hope that is correct. BTW, called up MA (she is in vacation, so someone else helped) saying mine should get to the port the 1st. If so, my guess may be correct.

Any other guess or possibility?

Cool, Frankie. All that matters is that you know when your car arrives. :) But if they could give you that detail, they could also give you the shipping line and bill of lading number. Before Julie went on vacation she sent me a sheet directly from the BMW internal order status page that contained this info, along with estimated date of arrival at port, etc. If you can get that bill of lading number, and you know you're probably on a K-Line ship, then you can figure out which ship and then go to port-of-charleston.com and figure out when it's due to dock, and occasionally check that page to see if it has moved up at all. :)

Do you have any idea if you're the last person to go in our group of cars to CA? If so, that's great news, and it only means we have to pray that the shipping company can be out there ASAP.

Hay Mike, so like I mentioned earlier, seems my schedule is about the same as yours, just every step happens about one week after yours. so hope you don't need to wait too long (just a week) !! :)

Mike, definitely I will ask you Julie a copy of that document, if she does not provide me one. For the transportation to CA and any other detail, I have no idea at this point, since MAs wouldn't know much before the car gets onboard a ship.

Yeah, hopefully when Julie gets back it'll be time for her to schedule the shipment with the shippers and we can start to get some answers as to when that will be. :) I've decided that I probably don't want to drive it back if I can avoid it, just because I'm so anal about the car being perfect and pristine when I get it in CA. So if it's a really long time before Julie can have it shipped, I may look at other shippers as possibilities next.

yay!!!!! <doing a little happy dance> :D Well, some good news finally! And I got my loan approved yesterday, all they have to do is cut the check, got the SUV listed on-line and in the paper, getting it detailed this weekend after more dog shows and therefore more doggie spit and hair everywhere. Now I just need to get the check here and figure out how to pay sales tax ($1800! ouch! ), and figure out what license plate to get.

I'm thinking SPR SIZ, SPR SZE, SPR SZD, SPD RCR, MOTR ON, or BAXTER. (stoopid Missouri only allows 6 letters on their plates.) I'm leaning towards some version of the super-size. With all of our bigger-is-better, supersize-me, giant SUV America, I thought that advertising that small is a super size would be very fitting. :D

Mike, next time I go to Classic, I'll look out for your MINI as they often put the ones waiting shipment in the showroom.

BTW, Patriot fans, Port of Charleston.com says ship is due to arrive on 8/23, though WW site now says it will be 8/22.

Since I was told that mine will be at the dock Sept 1, and just checked the Port of Charleston site, there will be a vessel named 'Emden' arriving on Sept 1, guessing mine is on this ship. This 'Emden' is a K-Line ship, so may be it. However, I can't find any info about it, not sure if the call sign is '3ERP5' from the coast guard site.

Frankie,

Yeah, good chance you're on the Emden. I would get the bill of lading number from Julie and call K-Line with this number to be sure. Also, check the July thread for a callsign, they are familiar with the Emden. :)

Bart -

You are absolutely right on the Ferrari. A 355. And does she sound sweet....

.... I think that if you hear from me before your MA that your car is at the dealer, then you need to demand a ride in it. :D

Good to know. So my guessing is possibly right, since others had experienced the same before. Seems interesting ... so the MINIs' are loaded on the exact same vessels each month in turns. So far, vessels I noticed are Freedom, Resolve, Emden, Carribian Highway ... May be the administrator or any one of us here can provide a list of highly possible vessel name in a thread, and make it sticky at the 'Delivery, Shipping & Order Tracking' top, so others don't need to keep searching like we did. :)

Unbelievable!!! I was just checking the WW tracking site: http://213.31.205.37/GLWebApps.AppTracking (http://213.31.205.37/GLWebApps.AppTracking)

I thought I'd see if the Liberty, on which Frieda had been scheduled, had slipped another day again (yep, I needed more bad news in my day). To my surprise, Frieda is now booked on the FREEDOM, which is currently scheduled to depart Southampton on 8/24/04 and to arrive Charleston on Sep 3rd!!! Frieda derives her name from the statue of Freedom atop the National Capital, so how appropriate! The Freedom will arrive *only* eleven days sooner than the Liberty, but wow!! That's 11 more still-warm days of blissful topless motoring in our Appalachian autumn - mmmmm ... :D

Anybody else booked on the Freedom??
