Yeah MountainGal, but we'll see how long until I get it. :) It is going to Classic MINI in Ohio and I am in California. :)

Still, I think you'll have yours pretty soon! Definitely sooner than mine! Are you driving from Ohio to CA, or having yours delivered?

Funny you should ask, because that is the question of the week for me. I haven't decided yet. I'm waiting to hear back from my MA as to how soon the car could be shipped out (it's going to be in a group of other MINIs being shipped to CA, so it depends on when they get there and when the shipper can do it)... So we'll see.

Update ... My MCS is now 'En Route' at OL and 'In Transit' at the automated system of ASKMINI. So, seems it is really going to meet the Sept 1 arrival date. :D

fs-mini - was your mini ordered from Classic? Just wondering if you're one of cars that will be on the same truck to Ca. By the way, I'm also a PW/B MCS

asaulo1,

That's still all I know. The ship as of this morning is still docked in South Carolina, so it may still be discharging vehicles or it may be loading it's next shipment to Europe. :)

Alas, it may be another 2-3 weeks.....

Does anybody have a way to contact K-line or NYK shipping? I am pretty sure my mini is not travelling on a WW vessel as it has been sitting on the dock for four days now and has not been scanned by WW as being Received at Terminal. I am trying to contact the other two shipping lines mentioned in this forum and the OL so that I can find out what the shipping schedule is. My MA doesn't seem to keep their records up to date so I don't have a bill of lading number. I would just like to contat these shippers to see which one is handling the shipment to Port Hueneme, CA and when it will be loaded on a boat. It would be nice to know a rough estimate as to when it will be coming to Utah. Hopefully I can get it in time to do some motoring before winter hits and I can't use my sunroof. Thanks in advance.

Visiting home again for a wedding (tonight), so I took my niece to the MINI dealership yesterday to check out their Hyper Blue MCS. I'm very pleased with my choice. They had two blue cars, which at the right angle look very similar. It wasn't until I walked around the second one that I noticed it was purplish. Nice color shift.

I also think my niece could very well end up being an engineer, or at least a gadget freak like me. She thoroughly enjoyed the toggle switches. And thanks Jarid. Yes, as you calmly said, the horn works. :-)

In addition to the toggles, she got a kick out the ratcheting seats after I moved it to it's highest level while she was sitting at the wheel. Apologies to the next person who tries to climb in as it's going to be a tight fit.

My MA seems to know a lot except anything that would give her confidence in predicting a delivery date. Still scheduled to unload off the ship on the 2nd, but then potentially 1-3 weeks after that to get up north by truck, and then an additional week for them to prep it.

I got an "unlikely" by the 15th, and a "no promises" by the 21st.

So no sense in booking a flight just yet. One thing's for certain. My niece will be in school when I pick it up, so I can surprise her by driving her home from school.

Hope everyone's coping well with their individual waits.

I doubt it's K-Line, for they don't go thru the Canal from Europe, accroding to their maps. I'm pretty sure it's NYK but their web schedules demand a password; I've emailed them thrice but no response.

There are quite a few of us on the same "boat" (pardon the pun) as you are (I think my car missed shipment by one day and it's sitting there collecting dust) so if anything comes down this forum will be the first to know.

Otherwise it's futile to keep asking. Like I said in a previous post, many are trying, it's tough. Jimbo

Went to the dealer today to check out the PH MC on the floor...
Learned that I am due to Port Hueneme on 9/5, I know there are a few others out there with the same docking date. She told me it would be a couple weeks at the VPC, and not very long at the dealer for their installed options!!

There was also a hyper blue that they are using as a test drive car. Happy with my "blind" PH choice... but its not at light as the Cadbury's wrapper so may have to change the name!!

The Maersk Wind is due in NY on 8/25. OL just gave me a delivery date of the 28th - I sure hope this is true. How my feet are looking forward to the pedals of the MCS!
Any idea if the OL delivery estimate is correct?

Aug 22nd, 2004, 05:05 AM
I spoke with my MA today and confirmed that Sportty should arrive in CA on Sept 5th. (Aautobee ... we must be on the same boat for sure!) The bad news is that it still takes another 10-12 days for it to make it up to San Francisco from there.

Did anyone else order the iPod adapter? My MA says that they still haven't seen a part number for it and that they have no idea when it'll come in ... anyone have any info on this?

Do you know when you left Southampton?

The rest of us leaving around 8/16 headed for PrtH are getting 9/5 docking date from our MA's... are you on the same vessel, ya' think - maybe a different one, or are all our MA's clueless?

Also - My mini will have to be trucked to AZ... another AZ owner got hers 3 days after docking... so this 2 week thing is a safety net on the dealer's part... I'd say - keep an eye on them the same week 'cause you might be seeing this mini sooner than you think!

I'd so much rather be surprised by my MINI arriving sooner than expected than be disappointed by it arriving later!

It figures, the day my MCS lands on U.S. soil, I see a DS/W MCS in my own neighborhood. Now I won't be the only one in my neighborhood with a MCS like I had thought!
Though, mine will have racing stripes, leather interior and 17' wheels. So there, neighbor!
Actually, after rarely seeing Minis here in my area, I'm seeing about one a day. Slowly but surely they're getting more popular here in these parts.

Nope, Not definite about the date it left.

8/13 was told by ASK.MINI of arrival on 2nd.
8/15 OL reflects En Route.
8/20 MA confirms 9/2 arrival at the port. Although it was from a printout so perhaps the boat sailed late and it's old info. When she wouldn't answer when I'd likely be able to pick it up, I didn't bother trying to ascertain the boat name. My niece and I were having too much fun. The car is going to be ready when it's ready, and there's not much I can do about it. It may end up sitting on their lot for a while as I can't take time off for a few weeks.

I'm thinking positive thoughts. I'd just rather be pleasantly surprised than bitterly disappointed.

My largest concern was getting it before the first mountain pass snowfall, so I'd be sure to get it over before the seasons first road sanding. That doesn't appear to be a problem anymore.

While I'll be happy to receive my MINI when it arrives, I'll also be a bit disappointed if it really takes them a week to do the prep. Her reasoning is that it could come in amongst a large batch of cars. I should hope that they'll schedule mine first considering upon delivery time it will have been 2.5 years since I placed my deposit.

but where? :D I've been relentlessly calling automated ASKMini and even checking the OL to hear/see that magical change to "at the VDC". I swear I don't think I've ever been this obsessed or exicited about a material item! But then again, Baxter is worth it.

Hmm, Frankie (fs-mini) just informed me that Classic may be sending out a shipment at the end of this month, and not another one till the end of next month. In that case, I *really* hope I make it on this month's shipment, and if I don't, there's NO WAY I'm waiting till late September - it'll be a road trip for me! Waiting to hear back from Julie and another person whose car is waiting at Classic about this. :D

Mike - have you heard anything from Julie at all? I've emailed her a couple of times and have not gotten a response.... I would like to get my car asap but driving back would just be too much, I think.... how about that car carrier idea? I may be able to get a firend of mine to loan me his truck and we can just get a fifth wheel car trailer..... well, I guess I'm getting ahead of the situation.... I was assured by Julie that I should be in the truck to Cali. since I was one of the 1st to order in June... did she promise that to you as well? let me know...

False alarm! Just talked to Julie. She was very apologetic that she couldn't get back to me sooner since she was on vacation, but I was on vacation too so no problem at all.

She said she talked to Fred, the shipper, today, and is shooting for a Sept 10 shipment! That's not too bad at all. Frankie (fs-mini) is indeed the last person we are waiting for on the truck, and there will be 4 of us, two to the Bay Area and two to the LA area. The truck will be stopping in the Bay Area first and then head down to the LA area, and she said it should take no more than a week to get to me after the 10th. Obviously I wish it could go out the second it's ready, but waiting till Sept 10 is not bad at all, means I should see my car by Sept 17 at the VERY latest, assuming no strange delays. Since Frankie's car is due at the port on the Sept 1, it should be able to make it for the shipment at Classic by the 10th, and Julie is putting a rush on all our cars at the VPC!
