: The **AUGUST** Production Group BrantV Aug 31st, 2004, 06:59 AM Well someone just picked up my car. Ok not my car. But with little modification (16s in white, chrome interior and no stripes) it could be it's twin.
RallyMINI just picked up a nearly identical HB/White with cordoba beige and anthracite. Wasn't someone else here waiting for one similar?

Still on a boat, probably through the canal by now, heading for CA. Only forever and a day to go. :) Appy Aug 31st, 2004, 04:34 PM JoeyJoe,
Glad to see you finally got your MINI and practice willmake you perfect on a stick shift.
I stopped by My dealer Yesterday and just an hour before I got there MY MINI had arrived. I will be picking her "APPY" up on wed. night at 6pm. I got to look her over and she is just the way I pictured it.
2005 MCS PW/PW with PW mirror covers, Cordoba leather interior, and Chrono Pkg.
;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) mlebeau Aug 31st, 2004, 04:58 PM Woot! My car is getting tinted today (35% all around, 5% on the sunroofs), Julie herself is doing the drop-off and pick-up. She said she will take some post-tint pictures for me this afternoon. Woohoo! :D
-mike mlebeau Aug 31st, 2004, 05:56 PM Forgot to mention - Julie said my car has a grand total of 7 miles on it, although it will have a few more by the time I get it since it had to be taken to the tint shop and all. :) This is good news because it means there was nothing wrong with my car at the factory (since 7 miles is about the 'default' if nothing goes wrong)! :)
-mike mlebeau Aug 31st, 2004, 08:17 PM Here are the pics of my new tint! They are in the gallery as well - if you compare them to the old pics in the gallery, you can really see the difference. Woohoo, I love it!
-mike mlebeau Aug 31st, 2004, 08:35 PM Frankie,
Just trying to figure out if your car is going to make it on time for the shipment, as Julie said she would have to delay if it doesn't... You said you had an EDD of 9/5 in the OL right? And you think you were on the Emden? Why don't you ask Julie for a bill of lading number (she can get it on BMWnet), and call K-Line and see if that's the Emden? If so you know you've docked, and you should be able to make it by the 10th... Would really like to know for sure! :D Thanks.
-mike fs-mini Aug 31st, 2004, 09:03 PM Hay Mike,
You are getting impatient now ;) Just mailed Julie as you wish, she said things will work out, don't worry. I think there is a high chance mine is on Emden (based on date 'en route' and est. docking date at SC) which is docking either today or tomorrow. Julie said she will put a rush on it, so guess it should be fine, still 10 days to go before getting shipped. See yours and asaulo1's only took like 5 days from docking to arrival at dealership, so it should be ok. mlebeau Aug 31st, 2004, 09:47 PM Hay Mike,

Yeah Frankie, I'm not concerned just thought you might want to check to be certain what ship it's on, like I did. You know you can call K-Line and ask about that bill of lading number right?
-mike fs-mini Sep 1st, 2004, 12:29 AM Hi Mike, thanks for asking about the status. Actually, I have obtained the BOL from Julie already, just don't feel like calling because couldn't find the time at work recently to call, plus it is getting close to the due date at the SC port, so not a point to check any more. Besides, I just try to clam myself down from heart attack caused by that Mini Tracking Syndrome, which I felt too exhausted about tracking the system every other minutes for the past few weeks.
Anyway, Emden, the only ship scheduled to dock at SC around the 09/01 time frame (expected arrival date from Julie), loaded with vehicles, has just arrived at SC this afternoon at 17:35 (guess it's EDT). So, I should know by tomorrow or the day after whether it gets to the VDC, then that is the confirmation for sure from either Julie or OL. speed_racer Sep 1st, 2004, 01:20 AM Well, I went by at 5 pm today to pick up my Mini! Went through the book, went over paperwork, asked to see the car before we signed off. Went up to the delivery bay and poked around the car. Then we noticed there's no tint on the windows! That was the one friggin thing I had them add! Response: oh, gee, yeah we forgot that. So, I left with a loaner '05 MCS EB/EB while my baby Baxter spends the night at the dealer to have the tint installed tomorrow. *sigh* And even with all that, no mention of "gee, since we can't get anything right for you guys, here's the boot mats you wanted." I'm beyond mad at this point. I am just weary from the struggle and I just want my freakin' car. :( mlebeau Sep 1st, 2004, 02:48 AM Man, sorry to hear about your woes speed_racer, that really sucks. Just hearing about your situation makes me want to give them a piece of my mind, it must be infuriating knowing there's very little you can do short of refusing delivery which clearly isn't an option. I'm very lucky to have stumbled upon Julie at Classic, as it has been such a wonderful experience. Today they tinted my windows (as you can see in the pics above), and after Julie took the time to send me updated pictures, I sent her an email back to thank her and remind her to not let anyone lower the windows for a week - she said she had put stickers on the window toggles already. :) They are one step ahead of everything, responsive, and truly wonderful. If you need a future dealer to purchase from and no one in your area is worth it, I highly highly recommend Classic. But again, sorry to hear about the crap you've been going through - soon it won't matter and you'll have your baby. :)
-mike
P.S. Hope that's not someone else's new baby they're using as your "loaner"! Knowing them I'd be a bit concerned! ;) BartMack Sep 1st, 2004, 02:49 AM I'm excited for all yous-guys!!! :D
These are the best MCS-es ever :D :D :D ... more hp, great gearing, awesome supercharger whine.... and just wait till you hear the exhaust burble on winddown  :p it's soooo hard to keep the revs under 7000... er 4000, er yeah 4500... :D ;) and mlebeau you are really gonna dig hyper blue in person.. especially in strong morning or late afternoon sunlight  mlebeau Sep 1st, 2004, 04:50 AM and mlebeau you are really gonna dig hyper blue in person.. especially in strong morning or late afternoon sunlight
Thanks BartMack, yeah up until a few weeks ago I was dying to see HB in person before my car arrived, but now that my car is so near I think I'll just wait and see it for the first time on my own car. :) We have LOTS of bright sunlight here a lot of the year, so I think it'll look good. I'm really thrilled by Julie's latest pics for me with the tint, as it just looks so killer in that kind of light.
Glad you're enjoying your car! :D
-mike speed_racer Sep 1st, 2004, 10:59 AM Thanks for the commiseration, mike. I'm feeling a little more positive this morning. After working all day, then spending two hours at the dealers and not even taking my car home, well I was pretty bummed out. But this morning I can relate the good things from yesterday. Even though it wasn't my MCS, I did have my first "Mini experience". I had to stop off on the way home from the dealers to run an errand, and when I cam out of the store there was a guy drooling over the loaner. (Which by the way is their '05 MCS demo car. I drove it previously to get the '05 experience on something I could thoroughly thrash when I was waiting on mine to get here. :D ) Anyway, the guy looks up at me and says "Wow, do you like your Mini?" I told him that although due to a dealer mix up, it wasn't mine, but I was enjoying it, at least for the short distance it took from the dealer to the store. He then asked what color was mine, did I special order it, did I track it the whole way over, etc. It was so funny, and in retrospect it really did make my day a little better despite the B.S. I had been put through.
Then later I was doing some work while the TV was on and "Scrubs" came on. I wasn't paying attention until I heard "Mini Cooper". The plot involved a couple getting a new car, but the husband screwed up, so by the end of the show the husband made amends and surprised the wife with a Mini cool blue convertible. It was kind of fitting - you don't get the Mini the first time around, but eventually you'll get it. :D joeyjoe9 Sep 1st, 2004, 11:29 AM To reinforce what Mike said about Classic, my MCS arrived around noon on a Saturday. My MA said the alarm could not be installed until Monday since it was a weekend, but I could pick it up around 4 p.m. and have the alarm installed later. Cool. I was so excited. When I arrived at Classic, I asked when I could come in and get the alarm installed - and they said, you know what, we did have the time to install today. So, it took them a total of 4 hours for them to prep my car and install the alarm and deliver it to me - on a Saturday, no less! Now that's what I call awesome service! fs-mini Sep 1st, 2004, 08:10 PM Hay Mike,
What the hack, I just found some time in my lunch time today to callup K-Line. As my guess, mine is on the Emden, it is scheduled to dock at Charleston today, though it was shown docked already yesterday at the Port of Charleston website. So, it should be at the VDC before this weekend and hopefully will be at Classic by beginning next week, my another guess. :) So, so far, I think it should have no problem make it to the truck on time. mlebeau Sep 1st, 2004, 08:19 PM Frankie,
Awesome! Glad to hear it. :)
-mike asaulo1 Sep 1st, 2004, 08:49 PM fsmini - that's great news... anybody figure out who the 4th is on our truck to Cali. or at least out west anyway? mlebeau Sep 1st, 2004, 08:51 PM fsmini - that's great news... anybody figure out who the 4th is on our truck to Cali. or at least out west anyway?
Julie told me the guy's name one time - it was not someone I had seen on here. *shrug*
-mike fs-mini Sep 1st, 2004, 10:24 PM The entry of Emden is gone on the Port of Charleston site, so I guess (again) it has left the port and continue its journey. That meant my MCS should have landed, where it is now? I don't know, hopefully it's heading to the VDC. :D mlebeau Sep 1st, 2004, 10:47 PM The entry of Emden is gone on the Port of Charleston site, so I guess (again) it has left the port and continue its journey. Woohoo! Yes that would be a good bet that it's on its way to the VDC, and if it's not, it will be soon. Congrats Frankie!
-mike asaulo1 Sep 2nd, 2004, 12:53 AM Mike - you hear anything about our cars today? mlebeau Sep 2nd, 2004, 02:35 AM Nope, didn't hear anything today Alfredo. Not sure what there would be to hear. :) Good news that Frankie's car is probably on its way to the distribution center though, so we're on course for an on-time delivery.
-mike speed_racer Sep 2nd, 2004, 11:08 AM Ok, not to bore everyone with more of my woes, but I am just amazed and the shoddy service I've continued to get. :( I went by yesterday afternoon to drop off the loaner and pick up my baby. I got my spare key from my MA, then I went to the accessories girl and started talking mats. I decided to give in and get the black S mats for the front. No mention of hey, we decided to comp the boot mats for you, so I got them anyway. She then asked me about rear mats. She said she didn't have any in stock, but that she had just put some in a demo car the other day, and did I want those? I said sure, if you throw them in. Oh, no, I can't do that. So I said forget it, I don't think anyone will fit back there anyway.
So I then went to find the financial lady because I was owed a refund of $500 because my bank sent me a check for the full amount, including the already paid $500 deposit. I figured I'd leave it alone, get a refund, and buy some mats and maybe some accessories online. So she said, the check was cut, I gave it to someone to sign, let me go get it. She came back and said, I can't find it - the person who signed it already left and it's nowhere to be found on their desk or the admin's desk. So, I was told they will deliver it to my office Thurs.
So then, after I spent my measly $50 in the gift shop, I went out to my car and loaded in the mats. The windows were tinted finally, but it still didn't have a wash as promised. (Yesterday I noticed that if they had washed it, the did a poor job of it and the MA said she'd have them wash it for pick up. I decided not to quibble - I wanted my car.) I asked the accessories girl about my window sticker that was not in the glovebox yesterday, was promised to be in there today, and was still not in there. She said, sure I'll go get it. In the meantime I had also noticed that the temp tag was not on the rear plate as promised. So I went in the get that. The financial lady had that , so she brought it out and even put it one for me (it's the cardboard kind that actually is affixed like a plate vs. the paper in the window kind.) She asked me if I anted to keep the fancy metal dealer name plate that had been on the back. I said at this point, after all my troubles, you can have it. She was the one nice one out of all of them and apologized again about the check. So the accessories girl wandered back out and I said, umm, did you find the sticker? Oh, yeah, let me go get that. So she went in and found it, and came back out along with my MA, who other than giving me my key, had ignored me because there were new customers in looking at the cars.
So, they said enjoy it, have fun, etc. And they were also talking about a guy who picked up his car that morning (and promptly went and wrecked it  ) and they were talking about how excited he had been during his pick up, and unspoken was, why aren't you? So I looked at them and said, after all these problems, I just wanted my freakin' car. So I thanked them, got in my car and left.
I got about a mile down the road and noticed the gas gauge was about 1/16th of a tank! The MA had promised several times that it would be full when I picked it up today. So, I said ok, that's it. I called in to the dealer and asked for the sales manager, who just the day before had droned on about how they treat their customers like family, blah, blah, blah. If I'm family then I'm the redheaded step-child. So I left him a message because naturally he was gone, and said look, this is it. After all the problems I've had, I've been polite, I haven't told you about all of them, I've dealt with the MA, but now the car wasn't washed, the tag wasn't on, and there's no gas in it, and I don't have time to turn around and get any from the MA because I'm already late for a charity dinner because of all the mess I had to go through today. I left my number and told him to call me if he cares anything about my service experience. We'll see if he calls. :D
I don't think I'm being unreasonable here. My mom and my husband have been in sales and customer service for years, and the last I've heard is the customer is always right. I was promised, without asking for it, that the car would be re-washed and have gas, and they failed even those simple tasks. So the sales manager will be hearing the entire sordid tale of the shoddy service I've gotten from the supposed #2 MA in the country since day 1. And I will be posting it here in the dealer feedback section - the whole long tale. Baron blows.
Thank for listening (reading). I am thoroughly bummed out by the entire experience and I can't even enjoy the car now. I hope this will change in the next few days as I'm finally able to drive it. :( MountainGal Sep 2nd, 2004, 12:33 PM Speed_Racer -- I'm sincerely sorry to hear about all this. It's getting a little scary to hear the tales of inadequate service and attention - hope that you and your MINI will at least have a great time together! Appy Sep 2nd, 2004, 01:00 PM Speed racer,
Sorry to here about your troubles with the dealer. Not all dealers are like this.
I got to pick up my long awaited for MCS Yesterday nite. WOW it is great.
I had asked my MA to program the daytime running lights for us, as my wife will be drinving it most of the time and she just thinks she would more visible to the huge hulking SUVs on the road with them on. We got to the dealer and they said theere is a small problem, They had installed the $700 running lights and they were free to us to keep, or he would have them removed if we did not want them. We said we will try them out for a coulple of days and let him know. Freebie I'll keep um. The car was clean, fulll of gas and ready to go. ;)
My MA was great.
The dealer is in Arlington, TX if anyone wants to know.
Have fun motoring in your MINI. mlebeau Sep 2nd, 2004, 03:22 PM Damn speed_racer I can't believe how it just kept getting worse and worse. You are NOT being unreasonable, and good job on calling the sales manager. It might have been even better to do so before taking delivery, as even though it's still not a huge deal if you don't buy the car, it may have put a bit more pressure on the sales manager. Either way, sounds like a bum deal and I'm sorry it had to happen to you. But the good news is - you've got your car! :D Congrats!! How do you like it?
-mike tcassa Sep 2nd, 2004, 04:23 PM Sorry to hear about your bad experiences......Maybe it is just me or maybe I don't know the whole story, but not getting comp'd a set of mats ($79), a carwash, and a tank of gas ($20) seems like a little thing to push you over the edge. I am not discounting your frustration. I know it all adds up to a breaking point. Seems to me after all the waiting and anticipation that goes into a Cooper order, you wouldn't let anything ruin the feeling of that 'initial drive'. Like you said, maybe in a couple of days you will be able to put the frustration behind you and enjoy your brand new car :) I guess it is easier to say when you are 'outside looking in' . Hope your experiences with Mini get better..... Fingers Crossed for you.
