First, a few side notes:

Frankie - I never liked the cordoba that much because it always came with the light headliner and sometimes dash. Seeing yours in all anthracite made me realize I like it alot - if it's spec'd correctly like yours. Yours is quite the dog's danglies! :D

Everyone else - you all are getting so close! I'm so happy for you! :D

Now, I've been driving as much as I can to get that pesky first 1,250 mi out of the way, and I have less than 1,000 to go and after this weekend I hope to have only 750 to go - 3 days makes for lots of time to motor. I love my car. I've gotten so many compliments already and I had my first Mini to Mini contact - a PS/B MC and I waved to each other today! It was the first time I had seen another Mini while in mine. It was too cool - the driver and the passenger both waved!

Baxter is so much fun to drive. I had to take a trip out to a small town east of KC today to pick something up for my mom, and I didn't mind at all as it was about 100 mi round trip, 30 of which was on this wonderful windy, twisty 2-lane country road. My MCS was like glue!

On the way home I bought as many car care products as I could, but they didn't have a few I needed. I haven't posted any of Baxter's pics yet because he's been too filthy as the dealer didn't wash him worth a damn and I haven't had time to. And now that they've promised a wash, I think I'll make them do some work and leave it a little dirty till they pick him up for his bath. :D Then I will get back to the joy of hand washing it myself. I may post some pics of the interior - it's still pretty clean. Also, my seats are different than previous years and all the interior pics I've seen so far have been of leather. With the new leatherette combo I have, it looks quite nice.

Anyway, I hope you all get your cars soon!

Well the OL now tells me my EDD is 9/10 (Next Friday) :D

My MA ... told me my vehicle would arrive at the port on 9/2, which it looks like it did,

BrantV: how do you know that you arrived at port on 9/2?? !!

There are a number of us waiting for this vessel to get to Prt H and we all have different date estimates... you're saying something pretty definate there that can potentially fuel the fire of the anxiously-awaiting-an-earlier-delivery-date syndrome!!

Also - you're in Pasadena, and you say that you have to go "up there" to get your Mini - where did you order from??

Also again - I still don't have an EDD !!!! when did you get yours in the OL??

Learned to drive on the 101.... probably the best Mini driving highway in LA !!

After a huge dose of misinformation from M-USA in the last few weeks (I quit talking to them), today I found out from my MA that my MCS is ETA @ Port Hueneme 9/16! Tack 30 on top to dealer and prep and yup 9 months from wait list entry to delivery, just like my MA said. 10/20 is now a red-letter date :)

So by my math, assuming a 25 day transit, that means a ship (NYK? K-Line? WW?) left SH on or around the 23rd of August. Then those folks with build weeks ending 8/13 who didnt make it on Cadbury's ship and those on 8/20 with Hueneme-bound cars might have made this boat.

Man it's getting closer, I can FEEL it.... :D Jimbo

My vehicle is already at the port, so I must have made an earlier boat than the one you think is arriving on 9/5, unless it arrived early. My periodic checks of the OL have gotten fewer and further apart. When more people started showing up with EDDs I looked once again, and it changed from late last night from En Route to at the distribution center. It was then that I looked and noticed the EDD in the Review Order Detail section.

I don't know that it arrived on the 2nd, but that was the date I was told it would arrive on. It also fits with what appears to be a typical delay in updating. i.e. if it was posted this morning, then it must have happened a couple of days ago.

I ordered from Rasmussen MINI of Portland, OR. Great experience so far, although I've tried to be patient and not bother them that much. I placed my deposit on March 17th, 2002, ordered on
june 27th, 2004, and it looks like I'll pick it up on September 17th, exactly 2.5 years after I placed my deposit.

Yeah, 101 is a fun road, and much more enjoyable than 1-5 to bring it home on. But around LA 110 from
Pasadena is one of my favorites. The tight corners are a blast, and the sides of the road are littered with battle scars and the vehicle flesh to prove it.

To Mike - Really, the trucker takes less than a week to deliver, that is great. But the thing is, if ours is delivered in the weekdays, I need time off for that. Hmm... will my manager excuse me for a delivery, like a maturnity time off? :D

To speed_racer - Yeah, this morning when I saw the pic of the interior, my eye did not get use to that combo, but later, it seems pretty good, I know I made the right choice, at least my mind did when I spec'ed it out two months ago. ;)

BrantV - I really wasn't expecting that there would be several shippers headed to the west coast so close together... but I guess that's what's going on - at least I hope that's it, and not that I'm on the boat with "sequence" (!!) ;)

Good luck with getting the Mini in a short amount of time from OR!

Hay, you did not wait for me before, so not AGAIN, you just did not make it to the last truck. :) j.k. Not only you, all of us did not make it.

Let me see, what kind of excuse can I use ... I am sick today or my wife is delivering today or my baby is coming or ... Anyway, I will be there no matter what, and we all know why after this long wait.

Well, not exactly... see, if I hadn't convinced to order from Julie our truck would have been scheduled earlier and we would have been on our way or possibly here by now. Julie schedules the trucks based on when she has cars to ship, not randomly or some such thing... The date Sept 10 was chosen because it was the best estimate she could get for when your car would be ready to go. I don't hold it against you though. ;)

You're trying to tell us the people at work, including your manager, don't know you're getting a new MINI? If you're like me you'll never be able to pull it off. :)

Shouldn't there be legislation to enable new car buyers to take a week off work without penalty? Sort of like maternity leave for car buyers. I'm sure we could get the auto manufacturers and petroleum industry to lobby congress on our behalf. Just think of all the gas the country would consume if every new car buyer immediately took a week off and spent the time driving.

There'd be more drivers, consuming more fuel, creating more demand for highways, and it would bring more tourist dollars to far away roadside attractions.

I think we can get this through on the promise of the boost to the economy alone.
:bad:

No we haven't figured that out yet, although I assume we'll be taking delivery together since we live only about 15-25 minutes from each other. Probably somewhere with a nice big parking lot for him to park and unload would be best... I thought about this community college about 2 minutes from my house, Foothill College, but it's so close to home, I'd rather have somewhere to motor back from! :D

Mike, does not matter now, the date is set and we all will be getting the cars in a two weeks period, so that's already enough for us to joy. BTW, even if I did not order from Julie, that slot may still be allocated to another out-state person, since she has such a good reputation in this out-state Mini buying business and in the Mini2/NAM forums. :)

I agree that it does not matter, just pointing it out. ;) If there were another order from an out-of-state person, they would be on this truck, too.

Yeah I think may be somewhere in Mt.View, Sunnyvale, etc. Maybe just pick a park or something public, since if in the parking lot for college and company will be filled with cars in the weekdays.

Yeah I'll have to think about where. There might be enough room at eBay where I work, but that's in San Jose and probably not the best choice.

Alfredo, if ours is delivered in the moring, you might well get yours in the evening, since there is only 5, 6 hours drive down south to LA, so yours may be in by the evening. That's the best deal that we all get in the same day. That is an assumption that the 4th person does not get delivery after Mike and I, and before you. :)

Mike, remember you also need someone to drive you there in order to pick up. I think it's better to be some place like park for the pick up (if for weekdays) to avoid the trespassing issue in a private property, like a company parking lot. Let's think about it, then we can vote on our choices.

Then they have to do their prep, etc. Am working very hard at being patient - have actually cleaned out our garage! Zaino is on its own special shelf, and I've got my topless motoring CDs! I'm thinking maybe that I need a dark blue beret as well... Any other ideas for must have's in preparing for lovely Frieda's arrival?

out of curiousity... what is the leatherette combo you have??
def post pics!!!

I have the gray with gray that was supposed to be the new default this year - all the memos said no more black leatherette, only gray, but now both are shown on the US configurator. Anyway, when my order was put in, it defaulted to the gray/gray. All the pics that were being posted of US cars up until I had mine delivered were all leather cars, so I had no idea what my interior was going to look like. (Mini US didn't update the configurator until after I had my car.) So, when I got it I was pleasantly surprised - it looks like the leather cars as the outside is dark gray (where the black would be on the black/blue leather combo) and the inside part is light gray (the blue part on the black/blue leather.) It's really quite sporty looking. And the door casings are the dark gray, and it has black carpet. So all in all quite nice, as I was expecting a sea of dark gray - all dark gray seats, all dark gray carpet. And with the light gray seat accents and the silver dash, the old light headliner actually looks quite balanced, although I still like the anthracite.

Anyway, here are pics. That's Baxter riding shotgun. :D

Hey - those are great pictures! I love the two-tone look - VERRRY sharp!

Does anybody have the sunrise orange/dark blue - leather/cloth - combo? I'd LOVE to see some pictures of that! THANKS
