OK Frankie & Alfredo let's put our good thoughts together and try to make these cars get on a truck today! :) If I don't hear from Fred (most likely) I will try to call this evening to see if there's any good news.

Hehe, no, no it doesn't. :) Well fear not, like I said if Julie doesn't have any info and I don't get a call from Fred, I'll call him up this afternoon/evening for a status check.

OK guys, here's the latest!

Hi Mike! I just got off the phone with the driver Mitch - he is so nice! He is going to be here tomorrow am! I will be in Minneapolis for convertible training, but the cars are ready to go and Billy will take some picks and make sure everything runs smoothly. I'll be here all day if you have any last minute requests ; ) Would you mind sharing this info...I kinda figured you would anyway ; )

Alright! So looks like tomorrow morning. I can live with that. :) And we'll get pics!

Great updates guys. Tomorrow, meaning most likely it will be in the NorCal next Mon, Tue or Wed ... that's fine, though I hope it arrives on the weekend dates, so I don't need to deal with time off or any other time conflicts in the weekdays. Yeah, I asked Julie for more pics last week, guess she had a very busy week, so no pic yet.

Mike, do you know any detail about how we'll pay the trucking?

Alfredo, it could be as late as next Monday or Tuesday, because Fred told me they estimated about a week from pickup. If we're lucky it'll go faster, but I'm not counting on it. Frankie, Fred told me about payment that he can accept credit card once the cars are loaded on the truck, or we can pay in cash to his driver when he arrives. I told them I'd be happy to do either, whatever is easier for them, and he said it would depend on how much cash the driver already has on hand - they like to keep a little on hand for unexpected circumstances and if he's low, they'd like some cash. I'm sure if you insist on one way or another they're fine with that.

Julie has sent me some 'pre-delivery photos' of all our cars in the showroom together! There are 4 of them and I will try to post them in my gallery soon, I'll let you guys know. She also said that Mystery Customer #4 going to Southern CA is a girl from CA who is not a NAM/MINI2 member but is equally excited about her MINI. :)

OK guys, pics are in the gallery!

Here's the email from Julie about it:

Here are couple "pre-delivery" pics...we are keeping them safe inside with DON'T TOUCH ME signs. : ) They are are quite good friends now! The "other" MINI owner is a young lady in LA who is not a nam member - but she is just as excited! ; )

Great, they are buddies now. Mike, from the 2nd pic, your tint is not very very dark, actually I like that, I don't like those very dark one, what is the % on that, are the front two tint with the same % as the rears?

Thanks.

mlebeau
Sep 13th, 2004, 08:18 PM
Hey Frankie, yeah I'm not a fan of really dark tint either but I think a little tint makes it look good and makes a HUGE difference in the interior heat... It's 35% all around, and I got 5% on the sunroofs (the percentage refers to how much light is let through). I had it done in Ohio because it's a lot cheaper to get a good job done there.. Here in the Bay Area to go somewhere I would trust it would probably cost $350-450 which is craziness. So I'm glad I did it in Ohio where it cost $150 for all around and another $75 for the sunroofs. Glad you like the way it looks; I do too. ;)

Hmm... If you don't get it til next week, Mike and I definitely won't get ours until mid-next week then. So, sounds like the 7 days deal is to arrive at SoCal, not NorCal.

Anyway, any one of you have mentioned to Julie that make sure all windows are shut tight before they got loaded? She will not be there tomorrow, so not sure if she can double check for us.

This is like the mbleau-asaulo1-fs-mini personal Mini transport-tracking-thread :p

Just kiddin'

You will not believe what I just saw... blue Mini in the parking lot at work, temp dealer plate indicating pickup today! was outside with some co-workers oogling and the owner comes out... I asked about the color (thought it was PH 'cause it was darker than I thought HB would be)... Turns out its a HB MCS with JCW, Chrono, chrome trim, HK stereo, leather seats.... etc, etc, etc... turns out he had them take off the white bonnet stripes and replace the white rims with silver (whatever!)....
but this is the kicker..... he went in 2 weeks ago, asked them what they had, someone had ordered this AND NOT WANTED IT, so he picked it up!!!!
Now having waiting NINE months for a (custom) car from this dealer, I was in utter disbelief!! First that this guy had been able to completely skip the AGONIZING process of waiting!! and then that someone had gone through that process, and decided they didn't want the car!!!! CRAZY!!!!

Same here, guess I asked her too much, I asked again for the pics of mine today, and she does not reply any more. :( that's why I posted it here to see if any of you can do that. :) Mike, pass the ball to you, will you do it?!

Hey guys, don't worry about the windows, last week I mentioned it to Julie, and it was the first she heard of it, and said she would make sure it didn't happen. :) And Cadbury, that's crazy! Lucky guy. :)

Don't worry Mike: The West Coast delivery group will probably get pretty talkative soon ... (we've all been here listening in ... trying not to whine about having no info on our cars). But in the next week, expect lots of pictures to start rolling in! ;)

I'm hoping that my car actually makes it here by the weekend ... by MA said it is entirely possible that it could happen!

People, please allow us to talk for about one more week, by then this thread will be all yours and we will be motoring away from this thread. j.k. :D Of course we will be coming back to see how things are going for you and share what we know and feel so far. :)

Here's to hoping your MINI gets to you by this weekend, Garrett! I had to go a little more than a week with no news about my MINI's shipment (it was on a K-Line vessel) and that was bad enough - I can't imagine not having known for so long where it was and when it would arrive! :D

sorry to all - we didn't mean to hijack the thread :)
just another week more and we should be talking more about motoring in our new babies instead of anxiously waiting for them.... to think that if it was on schedule, we would be driving them come Friday and thru the weekend.... alas......

OK guys, pics are in the gallery!

Here's the email from Julie about it:

Does it bother anyone that your cars are being used as display models while waiting?

I know that MINIs don't come in boxes, but I'd rather buy a "Box" item than the display item.

I finally sold my vehicle, so I have the cash, my MINIs at the dealership too, and I will be able to take vacation next week to pick it up. I think you will really miss something by not driving it home.

Meanwhile my MA is away on Convertible training. She's probably learning the finer points of hand brake turns with the top down. :)

Hopefully they'll have it ready by next week.

At what point should my dealer ask how I want the programmed options set?

Wow. Your Classic Mini/foxy Julie/slow trucker/bad hurricance thread has evolved into something that transcends mere shipping anxiety the rest of us feel. I tip my hat to U guys, U are entertaining :) It can hold up as a quality thread on it's own :o

But seriously here, I think your experience speaks VOLUMES aboot just going out and picking up the car and driving it home. U get to take personal delivery, possibly get to see a new town, meet Julie, and not have to sweat the fine details of some trucker's personal and professional life :(  Jimbo

They are not display models, if you read the email it says there are signs on them that say "DON'T TOUCH ME!". I have the utmost trust in the folks at Classic, and I would actually prefer my car be indoors, at least that way it doesn't suffer the elements. Besides, if it helps them make a sale or two I'm happy to let some others take a peek at my car. :) Now, having customers drive it would be a whole different story, but there's no way Classic would do that with a sold car. They are VERY professional about taking care of the cars before delivery. :)
