: The **AUGUST** Production Group MadisonMini Sep 19th, 2004, 06:19 PM Rather than shy away. It's a shame she didn't share, so we'd all have someone else to feel good for.
Although this isn't a west coast or even North America forum, I think what we're observing is that the further away, and longer it takes to arrive, the more time we have to post. Requiring shipment through the Panama Canal just gives us that much more time to spend here and something in common above just receiving MINIs that were produced in August.
Due to shared delivery and an incredible MA, four individuals have been brought closer than most.
I'd imagine that at this point all UK deliveries for August production have been made. As time goes on, It's only going to be those distant locations (i.e South America, South Africa, west coast USA) that will be left in here still waiting for their august builds.
Most MINIs are shipped elsewhere, so where is everybody?
Well, my August production car hasn't been delivered yet. Landed 9/3 on the Freedom in South Carolina. And it's still there. It's been so frustrating because my MA and dealership have NO idea when the car is coming in.
Around 9/3, they told me it would be 10 days until I got it (my EDD on the OL STILL says 9/11).
I called them last week and they told me ANOTHER 10 days. Like I've said before in other posts, I could handle it better if they just told me they have no idea when it's coming in.
Last week, the dealer told me they are waiting for 16 cars that are still in South Carolina to load onto a truck. I know the weather there has been good.
So by reading this thread, it is apparent that the West Coast people will receive their cars BEFORE me, even though it's only a drive from South Carolina to Wisconsin.
If I would have known how this whole ordering/shipping thing worked, I would have placed my order with the closest dealer to Charleston SC then flown down myself and driven the car back. Would have been much easier...seriously. GreyStreet Sep 19th, 2004, 06:52 PM The aux input is indeed $40 but that does not include installation, so it ends up being over $100.
I didn't pay that much when it was installed before delivery. GreyStreet Sep 19th, 2004, 06:57 PM Good job, GS. You're not even part of this production group and here you're encouraging them to continue on with all of this chatter only because U find it "funny" that it irritates others? Are you this malevolent off M-2??
Before your post I was only mildly irritated, only because a friend of newbie mine who wished to post here didnt because she'd been reading the last 10 pages or so and didnt think her post fit in. "Seems like a pretty exclusive group focused on Classic MINI shipping to Cal," she remarked.
Did I hit a nerve? If I did, I am very :D
I have nothing against M2. :D BrantV Sep 19th, 2004, 10:46 PM So by reading this thread, it is apparent that the West Coast people will receive their cars BEFORE me, even though it's only a drive from South Carolina to Wisconsin.
Some west cost deliveries. sure.
There are bound to be some anomalies and I sincerely hope your MINI arrives soon.
Mine was built on 8/2, and I'm just now fetching it this week. And I didn't add an extra step for it to be trucked to me from my dealer. There are likely to be August builds being deliver on the west coast for the next 4 weeks. So while whatever is holding up your vehicle may cause it to lag some west coast deliveries unless it takes another month, you're not going to get beaten by all of us.
Is it possible they are holding it up because it's a convertible? There do seem to be many complaints about the premature wear of the fabric where it folds. Could they have a fix or anticipating one soon enough to hold up delivery?
Again, Hold in there. I'm sure it will arrive soon enough. mlebeau Sep 20th, 2004, 02:43 AM Alfredo, are you back from your trip yet? Any news from Concours?

Sorry to hear that, MadisonMini. I know, some time you just wish this tracking deal just never exist at all, so you may just wait calmly until the dealer called you up one day and say your car is in and ready for pick up.
Good thing to know, in your case, yours is not the only car 'on hold' from that dealership, otherwise, you may suspect whether had a problem, like your car was damaged during shipping and need a repaint job or replacement of some parts. There are 16 cars in total that dealership not receiving possibly just mean there may be only a transportation issue.
Good luck. fs-mini Sep 20th, 2004, 03:43 AM Is it possible they are holding it up because it's a convertible? There do seem to be many complaints about the premature wear of the fabric where it folds. Could they have a fix or anticipating one soon enough to hold up delivery?
I am not sure about the convertible hold up possibility because I have already seen like 3 or 4 convertibles being displayed at the two different local dealerships. Just my guess. :) asaulo1 Sep 20th, 2004, 04:57 AM just got back from my trip... no call from Mitch or Fred of concours so I guess I'll be expecting one tom. or Tues. the very least...... mlebeau Sep 20th, 2004, 04:58 AM Hmm, alright. I'm planning on calling Fred tomorrow then I guess, to figure out what the deal is...
-mike MadisonMini Sep 20th, 2004, 05:09 AM some of the display convertibles are only for display.
my dealer has not gotten any customer convertibles yet. asaulo1 Sep 20th, 2004, 02:50 PM Mike & Frankie - I have a feeling today is the day..... let's hope I get that call..... sequence - just a couple more days :) we'll be out of your hair..... mlebeau Sep 20th, 2004, 03:14 PM I hope you're right Alfredo. :) Let's hope for the best. I will probably be calling Fred at some point today.
-mike asaulo1 Sep 20th, 2004, 03:22 PM Mike - I called and left Fred a message... told him I haven't heard from Mitch yet so I'm assuming it'll be sometime today (or tom.) and asked if he can give me any status..... don't worry... my digital camera is all prepped and ready to go.... expect tons of pics when they deliver my baby.... :) fs-mini Sep 20th, 2004, 03:25 PM Mike & Frankie - I have a feeling today is the day..... let's hope I get that call..... sequence - just a couple more days :) we'll be out of your hair.....
Good, Alfredo. May be you should call Fred up, if you did not receive the call by noon to see whether Mitch has actually plan to be here in the afternoon. :)
Hope we can put a period to the this long process. Somehow, I felt these 7 days, since cars loaded on the truck, seems the longest time in the whole out-state purchase process. Guess because we have actually paid for the car, so we own the cars legally but not physically yet. :) mlebeau Sep 20th, 2004, 03:28 PM I know exactly what you mean Frankie. The first few days weren't bad but now that I know it's only days away, I'm DYING to get it. More than anything I'd just really like to nail down a day/time so I can focus on that. :)

From this out-state car buying experience, interesting to learn that the trucking company owner or coordinator actually does not know the whereabout of his drivers. Thought they communicate with each other at least one time a day. Thought I saw in the Discovery channel or something that the trucking company even use the GPS to track the location of his drivers. ?? May be depend on the size of the company ?? fs-mini Sep 20th, 2004, 03:33 PM I know exactly what you mean Frankie. Right, at least up till this point, I still don't know what time slot am I supposed to ask for time off from my boss !! mlebeau Sep 20th, 2004, 03:33 PM My bet is that normally Fred would know (it seems crazy that he wouldn't) but because it's extremely busy and he had to hit the road himself, he may be a bit more out of the loop than normal. That's just a guess though.
-mike fs-mini Sep 20th, 2004, 03:44 PM Guys, just off the phone with Mitch ...
He said he will be down south on Wed to deliver to you Alfredo along with another two cars. He hopes to make it here on Thurs. I told him I have meetings almost whole day Thurs, so I reqeust to get delivery on Wed night or Thurs morning like 7 to 8 am. Hope this helps. :)
So Alfredo, it's not today. :( mlebeau Sep 20th, 2004, 03:44 PM Awesome, thanks Alfredo! I tried calling Fred as well, no answer. I emailed Julie to ask if she has direct contact info for Mitch, as I know she has spoken directly with him before, so I'm not sure. I'll let you know if I figure anything out. :)
-mike mlebeau Sep 20th, 2004, 03:45 PM Grr, Frankie, are you serious? That sucks! :(
-mike fs-mini Sep 20th, 2004, 03:46 PM Grr, Frankie, are you serious? That sucks! :(
-mike
That is dead serious !! mlebeau Sep 20th, 2004, 03:46 PM Yeah he just called me as well. I was afraid it would end up being Thursday. :( That's the day I'm supposed to be moving in to my new place at school. Obviously I will take the time but I wish I had a little more time!
-mike asaulo1 Sep 20th, 2004, 03:47 PM haven't gotten a call but Wed.? man, that sucks..... mlebeau Sep 20th, 2004, 03:49 PM I guess we all have to be thankful for the fact that even though we were expecting it a few days before, it's STILL only 3 days away for us, Frankie, and 2 for you Alfredo, and that's great. Mitch also said we can call him anytime, his number was on my caller ID. Frankie, let me know if you have any success in requesting late Wednesday or early Thursday pickup, I'd like to do this as well if possible.
-mike fs-mini Sep 20th, 2004, 03:52 PM Mike, just PM you to discuss about our best time for delivery. :) mlebeau Sep 20th, 2004, 03:54 PM Yep Frankie just responded. :)
Guess it's time I called and officially told my insurance to add the MINI to my plan. :)
-mike asaulo1 Sep 20th, 2004, 03:55 PM hey guys... just got off the phone with Mitch and he's scheduled to drop off my car on Wed. between 10 and 12 noon.... I'm having it delivered right here to my office since there's a lot of big parking lots around.... he said he isn't in California yet and didn't really elaborate on what the delay was.... hey, just as long as we have a date now.... I guess..... mlebeau Sep 20th, 2004, 03:59 PM Yeah, exactly, at least it's only 2 days away! But it sure is amazing how long that can feel when you were expecting only one (or zero) days. :)
Man, it will be one day short of 4 weeks since my car arrived at Classic by the time I actually get it. If I had known that, I'd say there's a very good chance I would have flown out and driven back, regardless of the consequences, if I could have known that on August 27 when my car arrived. :)
All I have to say is - those Florida hurricanes can suck it! We all would have had our cars by now if not for them. But then I suppose that's a rather selfish reason for hating the hurricanes, I'm sure there are plenty of people in Florida who have more important reasons for being upset with them. ;)
-mike asaulo1 Sep 20th, 2004, 04:40 PM just a little bummed since I was scared at first that it would come when I was out of town.. but now, since I was expecting it today or tom. the very least, I would need to wait an additional day.... ahhh... the pain.... | |
