Tax + registration. Remember I didn't pay OH state tax. :) Registration itself is about $180.

$180 is low. My plates will be about $500. And for some reason I couldn't finance all my sales tax; gotta pay about $130 more in sales tax to the Man when I get plates. Guess CO needs the cash ;)

And I guess I've arrived: I noticed in the OL that I cannot track my MINI anymore, now I'm in some "Owner's Network" thing. Wow, it happened so slow, yet now so fast. minus 20 hours and counting Jimbo

Good news, my MA just called, my straggler MCS arrived this morning, accessories all on, and can pick it up t'row at 2PM! Finally!! :)

Sequence:

I too have been waiting not so patiently for my 33 build week MCS. I have been checking the OL and all I have been getting is "en Route" for over a month. My car has never shown up on the WW site and when I call Ask Mini, all they say is that it is "in transit".

Seeing your posts of dispair and then this one I am replying to makes me think there is hope that my car may actually show up soon.

Any other recommendations on ways to check up on the status of the car?

I also noticed in this thread that we're a pretty diverse group of colors and combos as well. Hope BartMack is reading this and when we're all accounted for he'll update the list and we can see the results of August 04 production. I know we have CR, HB, PH, PW, DS, CB, HO, PS, EB, BRG, JB.... Did we have any Liquid Yellow? Solid Gold? Astro Black?

Larry, good to hear from you. Welcome to the wild and nutty August production group gang. All I can say is your MA is going to have the most up-to-date- information regarding transit. I have a feeling your car, like mine, sat at Southampton for 10-12 days waiting for a boat, then were probably first-loaded, last off (I hope that's what this was). And NYK, not WW, is used for west coast shipments.

IMO, the OL track your Mini thing blows because it's so slow to update and can be misleading. When I got my call this afternoon, according to OL I was still at VDC, EDD 9/30. It's a mess, and can add stress to the wait.

So call your MA because they should know. If U have a hard time getting answers, call the manager. My manager was dead-on when he said no later than Oct 2nd, exactly 90 days after I placed the order. Jimbo

Stryder is right: Magic 8-Ball never wavers from the truth. All be in awe of Magic 8-Ball.

Thanks for the info. I spoke to my MA last week and he said it should arrive in SoCal today 10/01 and I should be able to p/u the car sometime next week.

I found that I was just skeptical because of the OL and Ask Mini info.

I guess I just have to be a little more patient.

I'm glad you got your car sequence, I picked mine up yesterday. Car is great, so much fun driving 80 mph with the top down, everything is solid

But if you guys want to read something funny, check out my post in the convertible thread about my experience at the dealer yesterday:

http://www.mini2.com/forum/showthread.php?t=72837

You all will appreciate this more since you've been reading about how bummed I was with the length of delivery...now get to experience the actually delivery itself!

Let me know what you think...haven't had time to take pics yet, but I will soon.

Congrate, sequence !!

MadisonMini, that was rediculous, your MA put the wrong order for you?! Luckily you like the wrong combination (s)he had ordered for you, otherwise, don't know what you should do. The $1K off was a good deal. BTW, I think the orange/anthracite combo is quite a match, should stand out from most people ordered with body color dash (your original combo). Enjoy !! :)

MM sorry to hear about that colossal screw-up, but many of these MA's are total tools.

Yesterday, about two hours before my MA called (the dark time) saying the car had arrived, the internet sales gal at my d'ship sent me an email trying to sell me dealer stock off the lot! Welll, I lost it, I mean, why are yoiu trying to do this? Did something happen to my car, and now I have to settle for dealer stock? Where is my car that I ordered?

Very very bad timing, TSTL. And I let her know this with a vehement response, one that trickled all the way over to the retail end. Man was I ticked off! When my MA called, he mentioned the email I sent, so I spent some time defusing the situation and letting retail know my anger was not directed at them, just the Internet sales dept. for being so UNAWARE of my situation with my laggard car.

Plus, if someone had called me when my car arrived, instead of 6 hours later, this never would've happened. Oh well must put this behind me and pick up my baby. 4.5 hours and counting. Jimbo

I understand what you were going through, Sequence. You should have seen me when I got to the dealership and realized their mistake.

I lost my usual professional demeanor, and...well I just lost it.

That quickly went away after I started the drive home. Simply amazing. Very solid car, goes around corners like crazy (my drive home was the first time I had ever been in a Mini).

I'm really impressed with the quality. No scary build problems (yet!) the other people have mentioned.

Did I mention that by the time I got home I realized they had given me the manual for a 2003 Cooper??

I was so mad when I got to the dealership, I asked them to give me $5000 off the price (which I'll admit is pretty ridiculous). They told me that make $2000 profit from each car sold, and I said "Fine, I'll take half of that." Which is crazy to even think they should profit $1 for their massive mess-ups with me, but I didn't want to drive all that way, and wait all that time to go home empty handed.

Now I'm just happy with everything (the car that is, not the dealership). I'll get some pics on here soon.

I picked up my Cooper S yesterday at the rail yard in Portland. Today I took some photos, some with the magnetic bonnet stripes, some without. I have uploaded them to my gallery. We are having some serious FUN :D :D

The OL system just told me that my MCS is at the distribution center, after only this morning saying it was still "en route".

How long have most of you found that the car remains at the VDC before being sent to the dealer for a final detailing and our pick up?

That depends. Mine and some others had the cars there for about a week or less, some had it there like 3 to 4 weeks, I think MadisonMini was on of them.

What a car!! I've never had so much fun motoring around aimlessley in my entire life. The 2005 just seems to have more oomph, especially at the lower to mid ends. And 4500 rpm? Boy that's hard.

Anyway, very impressed so far, as are my friends, especially with the red and chrome interior. Detail day is tuesday (have some 3m stuff and tint installed so can't wash it quite yet. Will post a link to my "Webshots" page when I take many pics after detail day.

In the meantime, MOTOR ON!! See you guys in the new owner's thread. And yes the wait was worth every second.

Congrats Jim, I am glad you are finally able to enjoy such a great car! It looks like today is going to be a beautiful day for motoring. I on the other hand am going to get engagment pictures today and our photographer told me that she can do some really cool dusk shot of the car in the mountains. I will be sure to post them when I get them...

Congrats, Jimbo, glad you're loving it. :) Don't forget, not just under 4500 rpm, but avoid full-throttle as well. I know it's hard, but it's for the best. :)

Webshots is such a HUGE database it can be persnickety at times: the link works, someone else has verified it. Try it again, and hit refresh. Should go directly to the album. If I can get my act together and create a personal album here I will--if I can figure out how to do it. Too busy motoring. This is a good thing :D :D

Done with break in!!!

Just got back from a huge motoring extravaganza!! Phoenix to Wickenburg to Kingman, over the Hoover Dam, through Las Vegas, to St George UT... Greg ran the marathon, got a personal record on his time... continued east through Zion, Fredonia, Cameron, Flagstaff, and back to Phoenix. Hit the 1250 about 10 miles from home!!

Took photos of 500 mi (at night), 1000, and 1250. I put them in the gallery.

Also got my first speeding ticket - 87 in a 75, but I know I was going 93 !! Gonna have to get a radar detector, 'cause of course, I'm not slowing down!!
... any suggestions???

All I can say is FANTASTIC!!!! This is the MOST fun I have ever had driving... and I HATE driving!!!

We also had a passenger in the back for most of the trip, and everyone was extremely surprised at how spacious it was and how comfortable, although the pillow behind the back helped for the back seat.

LOVE my Aux port... off to get a MINI Ipod!!

Spent most of the trip in 6th to keep the rpm's down... and was SO surprised at how much power it still had.... only 2 mishaps.... Greg took his first turn and changed from 4th into 3rd instead of 5th... so spiked the rpm's over 5K (he did it THREE times)... and Matt took a freeway onramp that was a hairpin turn a little too fast and spun out engaging the DSC!!

This is the BEST car I have ever driven, and I've driven a lot.... and I cannot imagine owning anything else ever again!

Just had to share since you all will actually care more than the general Mini2 population. :D

I went to my first MINI rally on Sunday! It was awesome - approx 170 Minis of every color combo imaginable, except oddly enough HB, unless I just missed it. There were also 3 original Minis - red, white & a blue one! It was so much fun, we started at the dealer and then went through town - including the two most congested and populated shopping/destination areas in KC. And the cops escorted us the whole way, stopping traffic at every light. It was a parade of Minis a couple of miles long. They even stopped traffic on the 2 major interstates here - I-70 and I-435. Traffic was backed up for miles. :p So many people just stopped and stared and waved and honked. Baxter felt really special. And he was one of only 6 EB Minis there - and one was even the dealer demo car. He felt very special, very elite. Anyway, I took some pics (I was by myself so it was hard to do while driving  ) but I will post to the gallery as soon as I can.
