So that would be either week #34 or #35. MINI labels the week according to the Friday of that week.

Is your dealer serviced by the west coast VPC? If so, there's a chance we get on the same boat, and even a chance you get on an earlier boat, as cars that get to port too early have been known to occasionally get buried behind newer arrivals.

My dealer is in Illinois so I assume an east coast port.

Hi - got a production no. for my new MINI this week..... I believe she'll be built in August. Yippee. Have ordered CR/W; chrome interior; CVT; HK; Navigation; all 3 packages; anthracite interior. Think that's it! Decided against the anthracite headliner (quite like the lighter colour on my current MINI) and am not going with the xenons either.......... Hope to get the driving lamps mounted when she comes in - they'll be the icing on the cake.

Mine's building week ending Aug. 13. Any guesses how long it will take that baby to reach Ohio?

How are you all finding out your 'build week'??

Just call MINI or e-mail them.

Can we nail down these weeks? Are you sure you're week 33? I've been under the guidance that week #32 is the first week of August ending on August 6th. Something confirmed by my printout and ASK MINI. It also seems inline with what most have said. That would put week #33 ending on August 13th, and week #34 ending August 20th.

I was typing too fast.... I'm 8/13, wk 33 :D

I'm curious... other than me, brandtv, and tfaust - who's scheduled for wk 32 or 33 and west coast delivery?

Glad to hear. Just didn't want anyone to get disappointed.

So that puts me well past the 3 week cutoff. Only two weeks to go.

Did you finalize a color yet?

I always thought color was going to be the hardest question to answer. Something that would have me antagonizing my dealer with daily calls to synchronize the spec to the dream from the night before. I was expecting this to get real complicated and stressful. Not because any of the colors were horrible, but to the contrary, because they all look so fabulous. As wonderful as the rainbow of color choices are, it still takes time to find your personality in your car.

So I shocked myself when it came time to order. I spent one day, made up my mind, and have happily stuck with Hyper Blue without any changes to the spec. I'm now emotionally invested in the anticipation of driving the car I specced. To get through the wait all I have to do is close my eyes. I know exactly what it's going to look and feel like to drive from the indside, even though the last demo I drove was red.

That's thanks to many who have posted pictures of their deliveries, and the human ability recreate our own set of props within our minds from these mental clippings.

Mid-September?

If you're lucky, the car will go out shortly after it's finished, maybe on the ship going out on the 18th. That ship is going to take 9 days, so it would arrive in port the 27th in NY. From there it depends on how long the PDI takes, could be a week or two. If you're really lucky, you could see it early Sept.

I know this is a late stage to waffle on colour, but last night I woke up debating whether to stick with red/red or to switch to red/white with bonnet stripes. The solid red is not common and with the black Aero kit grilles should look pretty good. However, one of the things that is so identifiable with a Mini is the contrasting roof colour and bonnet stripes. Am I correct in thinking we have up until three weeks of production to change our specs?

Thats what I've heard, three weeks before production you can still change your color.

Be forewarned: my MA said they saw people get bumped a week or two later when they made last minute changes...
CR/W is a very very common color scheme (for good reason) but all CR IS unusual... I saw an all EB MCS this morning, it looked really good, actually made the blue look more intense.

I think you should stick with what you ordered :)

I just got off the phone with ASK-MINI; they said that my car's status was changed to general production, however he also said it was looking like a bild day in the third week of August. Both MINI and my dealer told me I was a week 32 build though, not 34.:( Any ideas what gives?

It was a little less than a week ago... maybe 6 days. They said that my car changed status on the 19th.

Nope. Grrrr... with all the agony of waiting, the last thing I need is confusion

I suppose I'll call my dealership when they open to see if they hae any information more to my liking :D :green:

Watch the Italian Job tonight and I guarantee you, you will change your mind to stripes. That's what I did.

Well, "Baxter" started production today! :D Bad news is, no anthracite headliner. :( I tried. Anyway, I am at least glad to know that Baxter, sans anthracite liner, is on his way to being born on time by August 6. Good boy, don't make mommy wait too long! :D

Interesting side note about the infamous liner. After I found out from MiniUSA today that Baxter has started production, I called the sales manager at my dealer to see if they had squeeked in the liner in my order yesterday. Obviously, that didn't happen. I commented that I was disappointed considering several people here in Mini2 were going to have it on their cars produced at the same time or even after mine. He said that he doubted that *any* of the cars that had it specc'd would arrive with it. I asked how that was possible when the dealers were verifying the 4AA code. He said that he had seen cars be specc'd with a certain something but arrive without it, even if the order said it was on there. Now, I hope he was only trying to make me feel better about their shortcomings, but it will be interesting to see when the first of the US people who ordered the anthracite get their cars. So, I hope those of you who got is specc'd really do have it, and by all means, please share info/piccies when yours arrives. :D

Darn, mine isn't in production yet. speed_racer you lucky dog! :) They have however confirmed week 32 for sure, so that's good.

edit: Maybe it has started production! The order status is now officially "SCHEDULED FOR PRODUCTION", so that's order status 150, which is known as "Production started". Maybe you and I *are* on the same page, speed_racer!

You sure BartMack? Ask them for the actual status code - if it's 150, you're with us. :) By the way, what was your order date and prod # again?

everytime I call them they tell me they don't get actual status codes on their system anymore

I think I signed on the dotted line around June 25, they gave me a CR that was already slated for production and changed the spec to suit me. I actually started the order process in April, I would've had the veerrrrrry 1st one had they not been so wacky about Hyper Blue. They said no HB until 1/05, so I set my mind to wait it out and then they changed back again  :p

but my production number is classified..... :D

Other than calling MINI have you had any success getting into the lounge? I can't get to it through MINIUSA because it's down again. I think they're taking liberties with the term "few". How about many, several, plenty, or an excessive amount?

I figured it took longer than a day to actually build a car. For instance, they have to start planning ahead, so that as parts are needed for assembly, the correct parts arrive in time to prevent production delays. So perhaps they're in the preparation stage now.

Updated: did a search and found a link straight to the owner's lounge
