BartMack,

hehe, you could follow suit with the rest of the folks here and provide everything but the last 2 digits of your production number. :) I'm just curious how we all stand in that regard and if I can see a pattern.

BrantV,

A lot of people seem to be confused on this point. Technically, if they put your car through every stage, it could probably be done in a day. But each stage happens at a different time, so it may take longer for the car to be completely produced, but the overall time worked on the car is probably not any more than a day's work.

Also BartMack.. I've been given the status numbers a few times lately.. Maybe you should just try to get someone else on the phone. :)

Darn, mine isn't in production yet. speed_racer you lucky dog! :) They have however confirmed week 32 for sure, so that's good.

edit: Maybe it has started production! The order status is now officially "SCHEDULED FOR PRODUCTION", so that's order status 150, which is known as "Production started". Maybe you and I *are* on the same page, speed_racer!

150 Production Started [SCHEDULED FOR PRODUCTION]

-mike

That would be great if a bunch of us did get started together today. :D To be more exact, Baxter started production at 6:10 am EDT today (7/22) according to James at MiniUSA. He did not provide a code, and I did not ask for one, since he already gave me the good news. FWIW, my order was put in 6/22 and accepted at Oxford on 7/12, then changed on 7/15. :p

I don't know if anyone can verify this, but I;ve been told that all August dates for weeks 31 and 32 have been moved back to 33?

Well they tell me today my car started production (although they pretty much told me that yesterday). They did tell me the car is to be finished with production by August 3, which is definitely on time. So I don't think that they moved me back to week 33. :)

Does anyone know how long it generally takes a car to go from being done to getting on a ship? Like what's the fastest it could be done? Because there is a ship leaving Southampton for NY on Aug 10, the Isolde, and I'd sure like to be on that. :) Is 7 days enough time for them to get that arranged? Or might I have to wait for the later ship?

BartMack,
Congratulations!! I'll call today and see if they have firmed up production for the 16th or 23rd. Won't be long now, although it will seem like it I'm sure. :D

This is exciting news!! Wk 32's in Production!!
So even though it takes 22 hours to build a Mini.... they don't build it in 22 hrs.... the 22 stretch out over the week - good to know.

I'm expecting (with MUCH hope) that the wk 33's are gonna start next week ... :)

7 days is probably plenty of time. However the ships are only so big, and don't seem to be as regular as MINIs factory output so the number of cars waiting transports fluctuates. I suppose it really depends on how many cars are queued up ahead of you at the port. I've heard in the past, that some vehicles would arrive barely too late for one ship, only to get buried behind newer arrivals and miss the next boat as well.

Getting buried is my fear. Just checked and I'm in production with a completion date of August 4th (yeah not being finished on Friday). However the first available ship to the west coast is on 8/21. I believe the ship is the Don Quijote, if I read Cadbury correctly

SOUTHAMPTON 28/07/2004 PORT HUENEME 22/08/2004 TANCRED ED421-TCR
SOUTHAMPTON 21/08/2004 PORT HUENEME 14/09/2004 DON QUIJOTE ED423-DOQ
SOUTHAMPTON 28/08/2004 PORT HUENEME 20/09/2004 TURANDOT ED424-TUR

So my fear is I get there 17 days early, and get buried behind a ton of other cars. I wouldn't worry about it too much though, it's not something we can control. :) Plus there's another ship to rescue my MINI a week later.

When the car gets on the boat, and I can verify it was built to spec, I'll start preparing garage for delivery (i.e. selling current vehicle).

If we wanted to worry, we could hope our MINIs don't encounter one of these while at sea.

Hey everyone-
Am I reading these threads correctly, that week 32 builds are already in production? I thought "week 32" meant Aug. 6th.
(BTW I am scheduled for week 32)

Just stopping in (from July production) to give you guys a heads up:

MINIs take 22 hours or whatever to finish final assembly. To get the body assembled, painted, etc takes a few days (hence the status codes for paintshop). Because of that, the week you're scheduled for production is generally the week you'll finish it not start. For instance the first '05s started production in June, but finished July 1st.

Also a few of our cars have ended up on K Line vessels, which aren't trackable by the usual WW methods, so especially if there's a long wait before a WW ship, you might get put on a K Line one, unfortunately they don't publish the schedule, so its very hard to tell until you actually get put on a ship, which you can't track either, you can just find out when it will arrive at a port.

Yes. According to ASKMINI they are in production or entering. But they don't roll out as completed units until the week of August 6th. The "week" date is a completion date, not start date for production.

Thanks BrantV. You and Stryder cleared up my confusion. However, now I'm more excited and anxious than ever! :D

I'm trying to figure out when my Mini arrives in the States (NY) as I am having it shipped to the West Coast. (May meet it part way and drive it home from there as part of a Mini Vacation :p

MiniMoons,
What dealer did you buy your Mini through? Where are you on the West Coast? My MCS will be shipped from Chicago via train to Seattle and should be here mid-September. I was under the impression the build week was when they started, not were completed. Mine will be done sooner than I thought :D

My dealer is in NY (MOTH). I couldn't find any other dealer willing to let me have it at MSRP plus an immediate order.
If you are in Vancouver WA, I'm about 90 miles to your North. My MCS will also be shipped to Seattle area, however, we might meet it in SFO and drive up the coast. It's just a timing thing as our annual vacation is the first two weeks in September.
I'm so excited! I've been dreaming about this car since last December!

Just for the record, Classic MINI of Mentor, Ohio also does MSRP and immediate orders shipped out of state regularly. I talked to MOTH and found the guy I talked to didn't know jack compared to the folks at Classic, and Julie at Classic is really a saint. Just FYI to anyone reading this thread who is considering buying out of state.

Seems anyone east of the Rockies can get Minis much faster than the west coast. The folks at Knaus in Illinois have been really supper - always return my calls within an hour and go out of their way to make sure things are the way they should be. A few weeks ago I was really down at the prospect of a ten to twelve month wait just to submit the order. Within a day of talking to Knauz I had a production number and will have the car many months sooner than I thought - life is GOOD :D We must post pics as soon as we get our Minis and who knows, maybe we can organize a west coast "August Production" event in the future

Woohoo! My car is officially "real", it has a VIN! The OL now reflects that my car is "Scheduled for Production" and shows my VIN right there. Still doesn't show any of my specs besides "Hyper Blue Metallic Cooper S", but from what I understand that's normal. I can't wait!!!

Bummer, the Wallenius Wilhelmsen site doesn't have my VIN on file as booked for any ship yet. Probably since the VIN just showed up today on the OL, it will be a business day or two before WW gets that info from MINI. Here's to hoping for the Aug 4 ship! :)

Same here. OL now reflects "Scheduled for Production, and has a VIN", but my options still are unreflected.

I already verified with ASKMINI before, and they appeared to have everything correct in their internal database. It just wasn't reflected in the web site.

Hopefully there's nothing to worry about, however I will be contacting them again on Monday to verify, and again on the 5th to verify completion with correct options.

Anyone else's VIN show up on the WW site yet? How about if you run it through CARFAX? CARFAX tells me it's not a valid VIN, I'm sure they just aren't aware of it yet.
