The problem is that I see a lot more MINIs when I'm out in the Volvo, for my job, than when I'm in the MINI. I have to stop myself from waving every time. It's very frustrating.

Could there be some specially coded wave to say "I'm only driving the Volvo 'cos I have to and I'll get the MINI :red: out when I get home"? :D

Suggestions please....

Tigger.

Tigger,
Get your employer to give you a Mini instead of a volvo!! :D

Thanks for the thought. The only problem is that even the Volvo is a bit small for the equipment I need to carry for my work (copiers, mostly) and I sometimes need to fit a tandem in the back at the weekend. The MINI is very good, but somehow I don't think the boot is quite big enough... :(

I get so frustrated when I don't get a wave back, and how come it's always me who flashes and waves first. In six months of ownership have only been flashed first once.
All new mini's should be supplied with a sticker on the steering wheel telling drivers what to do.

I always wave, sometimes flash ;) ...but it's great if someone else waves first. There is one Dark Silver/Black MCS I see fairly frequently but she refuses to even crack a smile, let alone smile  . Some people just don't get the MINI thing :p

I have to say I think it is the ladies who are the worse for not returning the flash or wave.....they all seem so stuck up!

Sorry if you are a waving lady......not many of us about I don't think, well certainly not in London

I used to flash at every other Mini that I saw but recently the responses have been reducing. I now wave at every Mini that I see and if they are an enthusiast or another Mini2'er (like me) they will be looking at my car and probrably see me waving and will wave back. If they are not enthusiasts they will more than likely not be looking and won't see me waving so I wont feel stupid.

I waved & smiled yesterday to a guy with his young son. He stared into my eyes like I was the most miserable piece of garbage he's ever seen.

Makes you never want to wave again.

Went to Basingpoke yesterday with my oppo in the Car (his first Mini Adventure). I flashed 3 Minis with only one response and felt a bit of a ***t having made a big thing of the Mini camaraderie thing. :( Anyway, let him drive back (he now wants one but has some negotiation to be done with SWMBO) and he flashed a got a wave straight back the swine :p

Hi everyone :)

I always flash & wave. Generally around Pontypridd/ Cardiff where I live I get a good response. I have come to know which ones are " MM's" ( Miserable MINI's) but I just feel sorry for the car . Poor MINI must feel terribly left out being stuck with such a driver :)

Happy waving/flashing/smiling everybody
Its what having a MINI is all about :)

All the best

Work, oh Wylie one? You kidding???
If I can avoid work and spend hours swooning over Minnie Mouse then I will. Trouble is I keep pressing my nose up against my windows and they keep getting all sort of greasy and messy then I have to wash them and I also dribble on the window sill.....nasty mess you know!

It's me age I think  Bless me!!

Round here(Altrincham) it's not worth waving as there are so many MINIS and they're mostly driven by snooty folk. :(

There is one MINI that we always flash at though that is the same blue as ours. :eb:

It's great fun though when we head out further afield and folk start waving and flashing. :)

Around where I live (just outside manchester) no one flashes or waves, :( they just ignore me or give me strange evil looks and look down there noses at me, stuck up, arrogant sods, they don't deserve a MINI!!!  the should be driving something boring like themselves, take a fiesta for example!!

Enjoy life, love your amazing MINI and her flaunt her to the world!! :D

Forever smiling, waving and flashing (my lights) hehe, :D

Always try to flash (my lights that is) :p and wave to other mini driver's.

Normally get a return wave at least. Midlanders are pritty good that way.

But what's been cool is getting flashed by mini transporter's. :D

I've come across a few mini Transporters on the motorways the last week taking all these new convertables to the dealers.

Passed a couple then pulled in front of them and gave a quick flash with my hazard lights.
Always get a flash back from the truck driver's, and they have a laugh when they do. :p

Something to look out for.

You wouldn't get that from a Hyundai transporter!!! :D :D

Happy motoring mini mates.

Living in America there are very few people who know about the MINI's heritage/culture.

I would say about 35-40% of the MINIs I have seen are driven by ignorant bimbos who bought the car because they think its cute  . About 15% of the MINI I see wave or flash back, these are almost always "modded" MINIs with enthusiastic drivers. Most people here just ignore/give me funny looks, but I am not deterred (some of the not so grumpy people laugh then wave back).

I WILL educate these barbarians!!! :p

Here in Kansas City the wave seems to be the proper thing to do. I've only had mine a week and of the five mini encounters four have waved. Mini drivers here seem pretty enthusiastic.

Id disagree with you there jason, I get a really good response around newcastle. I drive past a mini with vipers quite frequently in east boldon and always get a wave (i have vipers too).

I must say though, mini's with very little mods tend to be the worst offenders. More mods = more ethusiastic greeting. I always flash and wave but i try to look at the driver first, if they look like they are miserable I give a half wave so i can hide it and not look stupid, or wave harder if they wave back. At the silverlink retail park the other day i was driving towards a mini as it drove towards me, he flashed, i flashed, it was great. (plus he was kinda cute to!)

I saw a black cabriolet the other day, obviously just picked up from mill garages in boldon. All the extras. I was so in awe at the beautiful mini i totally forgot to wave or flash. The woman driving looked soooo happy! I'm very jealous.

id say around 75% wave or flash back.

On the very first day we picked up the mini and passed an electric blue just like ours, and thought, "What the hell, I'll give her a wave". And she gave me a huge smile back and waved. My other half was following behind and asked me when we got home if I had waved at the other mini, because the woman was laughing so much. In the TT, hardly anyone waved back... not even if you were both in roadster with the top down and could practically say "hi". That was pants.

That was the first time in the mini so how chuffed was I?! (Asnwer on a post card - ot in a post, please.)

In California a lot of times a flash of the lights can be construde as road rage. You might be flashing a fellow Mini driver, but the guy in front of you thinks it was harshly intended for him and jams on the brakes or gets next to you and starts cussing you out. Such hostility. A lady honked and waved at a friend, guy in front of her thought she was honking at him, next stop light he was out of his car, at her car, yelling at her though her window for honking. I couldn't help it, I was able to pull up next to them and told him to get the F :bad: :bad: k back in his car and leave her alone. He did without saying another word. I could have used nicer words, but I needed to get the point across. Some people are just wound too tight and are more than eager to jump at any chance to go after someone and sometimes they have guns. Can't see getting shot for flashing a fellow Mini driver, think I'll just wave.

True here to, but to a lesser extent (in my experience). Funny how everyone thinks they're the perfect driver and takes umbrage at the first sign that someone thinks they might not be.

Still, flash on, I say - it's lovely when you get a response! :D
