: 5280 and MOTR rockymountainpenguin Jul 4th, 2004, 09:59 PM so, who knows anything about these 2 clubs? (5280 and mini's of the Rockies)
From their websites they both look very active and fun.....but i was told not to join both :(
I decided to see if anyone here had 2 cents to give.
pleeze and thank you
-Pengu AprilWhine Jul 4th, 2004, 10:01 PM Sorry Pengu, not very many members here from the Rocky Mtn states. :( FWIW, I've heard good things about 5280 club.
Why should you not join both? Civil war brewing in the mountains? :) rockymountainpenguin Jul 4th, 2004, 10:04 PM teehee, thats what it sounds like....Maby living in the rocky mountains isnt the best for me and my mini....other mini's dont flash or wave :( but once the Citizens of the US return to work and sanity...i plan on contacting both clubs AprilWhine Jul 4th, 2004, 10:06 PM Long as it's not another Hatfields and McCoy situation. ;) rockymountainpenguin Jul 4th, 2004, 10:08 PM Long as it's not another Hatfields and McCoy situation. ;)
They all own mini's so it cant be THAT bad :p rockymountainpenguin Jul 7th, 2004, 07:08 AM so for the 24 or so people who checked this thread out...i guess the scoop on MOTR vs mini5280 is that 5280 is more into racing while MOTR dosent race their mini's...and 5280 is also for (maybe not exclusivly) for new minis. This info was from a MOTR meeting. All the people where cool, and it seems like it will be a lot of fun corick04 Jul 18th, 2004, 12:37 AM I'd say attend some meetings, runs (drives) or whatever both clubs have to offer and take it from there. I don't even have my MINI yet and I'm already a member of MINI5280. On many activities, members from both clubs (and others who probably have not joined either) are all having a good time with their new and classic Minis. In general, 5280 is composed of members who own new MINIs and the majority of MOTR members own classic Minis and several also have the new MINI. I haven't had the occasion to attend a MOTR meeting (or activity) yet, but I'm sure they're all fun people to be with when the topic is MINI or Mini. ColoradoMark Jul 23rd, 2004, 02:55 PM MINI 5280 is being pretty active. I would not say it's skewed towards racing. The have some good meets, drives and even bi-weekly Foosball tournaments and Webb Motorsports. Look forward to seeing you someime, I promise to flash you ;) rockymountainpenguin Jul 23rd, 2004, 04:20 PM awsome! Hi Ho Silver Away Nov 4th, 2004, 04:36 AM Hey, I'm with Rick. I belong to both. Some months I get functions with both, sometimes just one or the other. The decision has to be yours but my experience is that both sets of members welcome you, both treat you like friends, neither runs it like a business, and both do different sorts of activities at different time.
I am quite sure that 5280 and MOTR club leaders invite and welcome the other's in to their activities openly. It may be that some find more pleasure in Classics vs Neo's but that is not exclusive of the other.
Frankly, I know that MOTR had a well attended Halloween event last weekend, and MINI5280 has it's biggest event of the year on Nov 14 at Ralph Schomp MINI...
I say, check em both out and decide for yourself. Hey, for $25 each, they will at least keep you in touch and allow you to mingle with other MINI Mini owners any time or any way you want... jsouz Feb 3rd, 2005, 10:56 AM their calendars for 2005. MINI5280 Event Calendar and online signup is at

with more info, details and linked docs at www.MINI5280.org.
As for MOTR, I know they are updating their website this week, and they have the year calendared out already including a cool April 3rd "April Fool's" run.
Check it out at www.minisrock.com
Thanks.
JPS chueygman Jan 3rd, 2007, 03:39 AM Hi, I don't belong the either but was wondering if anyone has experience or could recomment a shop to look at my transmission for repair. Just looking for confirmation of a local business or the dealer if that has worked well.
