Folks,
I am evaluating my ICE options for my MCS. If I want to go from a Wave radio to a Boost radio, I believe that I need an BMW supplied adaptor. Is this correct? Are these expensive?
And do any of you have a part number?

Ooooh, oooh, question on a similar topic - I've damaged my Boost aerial connector on the loom and I've lost all radio reception. Would either of the parts mentioned in the other thread come with the radio connector so that I can cannibalise and splice it on to the loom?

Anyone got any pictures of the leads or any experience with this? :confused: :(

Er....no they won't........one cable adapts the speaker connections, the other adapts the main power feed.......the aerial is a separate lead, that is on the loom in the car.....is it this connector that you've damaged?

Yep, just that aerial connector, the one that clips on to the back of the HU. If I can source a replacement I'll just cut it off and splice on a working connector :(

beej I recon that piece will do you - tell you what I will get one in if it won't do you I will keep it for stock. :)
I rang Mini Parts - the Mini breakers that advertise in GoMini to see if they would let us have one from a scrap Mini & they said it wasn't worth their time :( despite me saying I didn't mind how much they wanted !!!!!!!!!!

Hey Mikey! Are you thinking that "The ISO to Boost radio aerial adaptor cable part No. 61 12 0 144 351" is the one to go for? It does suggest from that thread that this converts an ISO type into the Boost type. If you get this part in and cast your expert eye over it, then that works for me and I'll order it from yourself :)

No there isn't.........fit the loom adapters to the loom first, push them down behind where the HU will go, then fit them to the HU.......it should all go into place then..... ;)

I undid the little flap thingy which is recessed back from the cigarette lighter and stuffed the cables neatly back there. You'll obviously need the torx screwdriver to open that flap as well.

The upgrade is easy to do - but take your time not to damage any plastic work by rushing. I hate to admit it, but it took well over an hour to do mine, but was well worth the TLC :)

beej got the bit, you will be able to solder the 2 leads together
