Try Classic MINI of Ohio or Mini of The Hamptons in NY. No markup but they charge to ship it to you on a truck. Probably $1000 at the most.

Try Assael MINI in Monrovia.

Almost ANY dealer will Move off the markup. You have to know what moves them.

Want better advice... PM me and I'll tell you a little "TRICK" that get's dealers Hot to sell at MSRP.

Yes, I purchased my 05 MCS not too long ago from them off the lot on 11/28/2004.

I ordered from the factory to my specs from South Bay. They've been very great to work with. I highly recommend them.

I went by South Bay Mini today and spoke with Peyman.

I have never seen so many new Minis in one place! There are quite a few with the same spec although different colors.

MCS
Panther Black Leather
Premium
Sport
Chrono
Various Dashes
Some with HK
No Cold Weather Packages that I saw

They have CR/CR, PW/PW, DS/DS, PW/B, DS/B, PS/PS, HB/W, etc....they also have quite a few MCSCs, MCs and MCCs.

These all are ready to go!

Each has LoJack and some kind of paint and interior protection that is already added into the price...MSRP plus these two...but Peyman indicated that there would be the possibility of some negotiation...

Anyone that wants a Mini now and is in Southern CA....take a run down and drive home!

Disclaimer....I do not work for them. I have my MCS on order at Classic Mini and the waiting is difficult...I had to see and feel a Mini!

While they do add lojack to the cars on their lot (that's an easy moneymaker for them) when you order a car to your specs through them you don't need to get any added features and they don't charge a penny over MSRP.

I placed my order and less than a week later I had an email from miniusa saying that I was in the system awaiting an official production date (the estimate is the third week of January).

I don't work there either or have any affiliation with them aside from my business. But after having average at best (and more often much less than stellar) performance from other dealers, I feel that one who's doing things right deserves the praise.

Chalk up another happy Classic Mini of Ohio customer here.

Got my car, from order to delivery, in half the time Brecht quoted, and even with shipping I paid about 1200 less than Brecht.

Classic was great to deal with and everything went really smooth.

I ordered my Feb build MCS auto from South Bay. After a little initial communication confusion (seems to be an isolated case) I'm on track and can't wait. I'd recommend their MSRP policy anytime (Nick Alexander wanted an extra $2500).

My MCS - Auto was built on 1/6/05 after being ordered on 11-20-04 from Roadshow in Memphis. I can't say enough good things about my experience so far. They will be registering it for me in CA even though I plan to fly back and drive it out, last time I drove from Memphis it took 2 days with a stop in Albq. NM.

I actually had to wait an extra couple of weeks because they didn't start building MCS-Auto's until after the 1st of the year. I'll check back in after I get it, should be around Feb 10th

PB in Carlsbad.........BTW nothing but heartburn trying to make a deal with Brecht down here!

Couldn't agree more, we went to Brecht first, but... egads... 10% markup?
4 to 6 month wait?

We called Classic, our order was placed a little over 2 months ago, and our car will be here this week. No markup, but I had to pay some shipping - still, ended up saving a little over 1k compared to Brecht and got the car in half the time.

Paul - think I could check out your MCS auto when it arrives? I'm just up the freeway in Oceanside. I'm tempted to order an MCS auto for myself. :)

Sure no problem, I'd love to.

We saw on the website that our car is currently on the boat and should arrive at the dealership in Memphis around the first week of Feb. We are going to fly out and get it so we should be able to get together around the end of next month.

Send me a PM with your email address and I'll let you know when we have the new car.

El Cajon here... went through Brecht for both cars. Got deals that worked out to my satisfaction. Might have been the time of year, but I was able to negotiate a bit.

Would love to see an MCS with the autobox. :)

Has anyone had any experiences with Crevier In Santa Ana, CA? Or Irvine BMW? I live in the Inland Empire, and I have a few dealerships in the OC area to pick from, but I haven't heard much about any of them... I am a first-time car buyer and I don't want to run into any major hassles and I am determined NOT to pay over MSRP... I want to get my Mini within the next few months (hopefully a convertable to enjoy the So. Cal sun during this summer!).... PLEASE, help!!!!

Crevier will stick you 5 to 7K above MSRP. Long beach from what I hear will do MSRP but you'll wait many months.
Bite the bullet and order form Roadshow in Memphis They will treat you fair and honestly IMHO. Mo Jacobs is my MA
Flying out next week to go pick mine up

thanks for the quick reply Merlin, Unfortunately I don't believe I'll be able to go out of state for my Mini, I guess I'll have to keep asking around... surely, there has to be somewhere in So. Cal that will sell at MSRP without having to wait months....

Why not? All you do is sign the paperwork, send a check and your car shows up 6 days after it arrives at the dealer. The total additional cost is around $850 over MSRP for the shipping and Roadshow takes care of all the paperwork and registration in CA. I got my car within 10 weeks from ordering it EXACTLY the way I wanted it.

There are only 2 dealers in all of CA that sell for MSRP (Long Beach and East Bay Mini) and both of them have at least 6 month and most likely 9 - 10 month waits. I was willing to get it quick and pay a very small premium.

I have purchased at least 25 cars throughout the years and I have to say this was one of the easiest and pleasant experiences yet!

Good luck.

Road Show sounds like a broker like Autoland? I dealt with Autoland - a service offered through my Credit Union. I paid MSRP. The car was delivered to Assael MINI in Monrovia.

Roadshow is actually a full fledged Mini dealer as well as a BMW dealer in a separate building. They just happen to be in Memphis where there seems to less demand locally for the cars. They tell me that they have sold 30+ cars into CA.

As far as Long Beach vs. South Bay, I think that we're bot talking about South Bay Mini in Long Beach!

Cheers!

Didn't realize Cherry2005 got MSRP from Autoland. There were snags with Assael tho and has recommended not going there for service . Correct "S"???

Give Mo at Roadshow a call what the heck, Like Paul65k It has been a great experience so far AND..........I get to "MOTOR" back across this great land of ours (Had to rub it in Paul, sorry).

Note to all who are looking to buy out of state--if you can't take the time to drive it home, you can have your car shipped. Last quotes I've seen are for $800 - $1000 per car. Lower price gets you open transportation, higher price gets the car shipped in a closed truck. Do a search or contact Julie at (MINI2 sponsor) MINI of the Hamptons... they've shipped many, many cars to CA.

Beats paying $2000 or more in mark up. And most likely avoids the mandatory "options" that some CA dealers are adding.

the snags with Assael in Monrovia were the service and getting them to install the Rally lights I had ordered with the car. They originally wanted to keep the car an extra week (to put the lights on) before turning it over to me. I made an 8:00 a.m. appointment to come on a weekday (their service dept is closed on weekends). I drove over 50 miles in the pouring rain and rush hour to get it to them on time. After they kept my car all day, they informed me that they, "didn't have time to work on it". This happened two separate times.

All sorts of freebies were offered to compensate me for my time, and were never delivered.

I suppose that's the trade-off for getting MSRP :(

Hi all
I'm not a Mini Owner yet but would like to buy one for my wife after seeing so many good reviews on this site and others. I've visited the MiniUSA site and built my own. I have a few questions, and this will seem very basic to all here.

1. Where do I go from there? Do I email certain dealers in So Cal? I see that Long Beach and South Bay Torrance don't mark up their costs so those are probably preferable despite the wait.

2. Are there specific people to contact at each of those 2 dealers?

3. How does one actually pay for the car, when it arrives or do I need to put a deposit down?

Thank you so much to those who respond, and glad to see so many happy Mini owners. I hope my wife will be one soon, although I know I'll drive it a lot too. :D

They're separate, albeit close.

South Bay MINI is in Torrance and 15 miles south on the 405 is Long Beach MINI in, well, Long Beach.
