Thank you so much! Our stay in the UK, and day trip to Paris went fabulously! Visiting the Mini plant and meeting you all was definately one of the highlights! We arrived back in Boston about 13 hours ago, and are once again happily driving on the proper side of the road. ;)
I'll try to figure out how to upload some of our pictures within the next couple days, once I'm all unpacked and recovered.
Thanks again for a day to remember! What a perfectly organized day!
Cheers,
Brian and Amanda ALD0 Oct 26th, 2004, 01:25 PM Glad you got back safely :) ALD0 Oct 26th, 2004, 01:29 PM I'm 6th from left at the back (you can just see the top of my face)

Helen xxxxx mignon Oct 30th, 2004, 09:54 PM hi everyone,
great to hear everyone's replies about the factory tour...fantastic effort helen :D .
i agree...name tags would be a terrific way to get to know each other and maybe a brief description of cars so that names and minis could be easily connected.
arriving home has required the usual unpacking and settling back into everyday life followed by retrieving youngest son from boarding school and adored pooch from her stayover with her mum, restocking fridge and pantry, then doing the rounds of catching up with other 6 kids and greeting brand new grandson, and touching base with parents. little wonder that it has taken me this much time to go through holiday pics ready for posting. hope you all enjoy them as much as i do.
thank you all for your wonderful company that made the factory tour so enjoyable. please remember to make contact if any of you find yourselves planning a visit to australia...can't treat you to a factory tour but can sure take you mini-ing "oz style". also clubMINI is a great point of contact for meeting up with mini owners in other states.
cheers and best

mignon MD1 Oct 31st, 2004, 07:54 AM Hi Kerrie
Glad to hear that you're you've arrived back home safely - no doubt to better weather than the plant tour day?? Nice shot of us with the brollie - just to prove to your friends in OZ that it does always rain in the UK!!
Saying that we've woken up to a bright Sunday morning so we'll be out roof down today!!!
Good to meet you, perhaps see you in OZ sometime, we have some friends in Bulimba and distant family in Hervey Bay and picked up travel books yesterday with a view to perhaps a visit in 2005/2006 so you never know we may be there for an OZ mini meet!!
Take care and enjoy your summer while we endure winter in the UK!!
Cheers

you are going to hate me for saying this, but i loved the cold weather we had while we were in london...reports from home at the time said that they were experiencing 35+ degrees :( . i fear that we will endure a long hot summer over the coming months
Saying that we've woken up to a bright Sunday morning so we'll be out roof down today!!! enjoy...now i am the one who is envious... of your cabrio!!!

we live directly across the brisbane river from bulimba so we are almost neighbours to your friends. (see pic)
if you do have the opportunity to visit oz, then a trip to see distant rellies in hervey bay would be really well worth it...great beaches and wonderful whale watching in season.
go ahead and make your plans for an 05 or 06 visit, it would be great to see you both and show you around a bit :D
Take care and enjoy your summer while we endure winter in the UK!!

:D :D :D JOHN ENGLAND Nov 1st, 2004, 09:37 PM Hi everyone! I would like to thank to Helen for organizing the Mini factory tour. It was fantastic and I really enjoyed the tour. It was very interesting to see how our cars had been made on production.
Nice to meet everyone especially Kerrie & Phil from Australia and Amanda & Brian from America.
Kerrie, I like the picture you took of me! :)
Thanks again, I had a great day
Take care everyone,
See you again soon!
John Boy :) mignon Nov 8th, 2004, 06:44 AM greetings fellow mini factory tourists.
just wanted to say g'day...hoping all is well with everyone.
have attached a couple of pics showing what mignon and i got up to on the weekend...four of us in clubMINI provided the wedding cars for a friend-of-a-friend. beautiful bride (yep it's a girlie thing) and much happiness all round.
best

ps was puzzled why professional pic taker kept his lens pointed at the wedding party instead of at the minis :p ;) :D ScoobyDoo Nov 8th, 2004, 08:38 AM nice picci's, hope you had a great time :D mignon Nov 8th, 2004, 09:16 AM hi helen,
it was lovely to add to the delight of someone else's special day...we have another request for january but i need to check with phil about his plans for holidaying in the motor home during the summer break before i commit. nothing has yet been decided.
we are now experiencing a bout of summer storm and heavy rain activity so the pleasure of experiencing "liquid sunshine" in oxford is beginning to wear off :( . can't complain though as we have had such a dry winter that the rain is most welcome.
mignon turns 1 on thursday so some clubMINI-ers and i will go out for pizza to celebrate!!!
pls let me know when your new min arrives
take care and best from
kj MD1 Nov 9th, 2004, 07:37 AM great pics Kerrie - a friend of ours used his Cool Blue convertible as the wedding car for his brothers wedding - no pics I'm afraid.
Summer storm sound great, anything is better than the grey and wet weather we've got in Norfolk this morning!!!
take care

summer storms are really spectacular buuuuut some areas have experienced cricket ball-sized hail and severe wind gusts that have unroofed houses. thankfully we have been ok and mignon has been home undercover during the worst :D . sounds like you and kate need a large dose of summer skies and colour to counter the approaching winter dullness. want me to send you summer pics!?!??! :p ;) :D
take care

Good idea :D
Hi Kerrie and Michael & Kate
Nice pics, Kerrie
The weather's pretty grey here too and the trees are rapidly losing their leaves :(
I'm about to wrap up my tree fern to protect it against the ensuing cold weather.
Look forward to a chat thread.

some north-south chatting (by that i mean a loooooong way north and an equally looooooong way south:cool: ) is already happening in the ot&b forum...soggy cornflakes suggested that would be a better location for general chit chat. so check it out:D
anything mini related can stay here if you like.

didn't know you could make it a sticky...that would be great. in ot&b it is simply called "uk us aussie chat thread" but that is pretty ordinary...let's get some ideas going  :D | |
