yeah...I couldn't quite read the text on the h2, but I think it says "world's first 28 inch rims" !!!!

there's an even bigger automotive atrocity though: spinners!

I'm sure you all know what they are, but if you don't - it's a wheel with an extra chrome component mounted such that it continues to spin after the car has stopped....

now....the japanese would never create something so hideous!

If you're going to make that kind of a statement, you've got to expect some flack, no two ways about it.

I only popped in here to say that I think over-modifying until they look "Japanese" is a bit of an odd statement, there's many modded and purely ugly cars that come from the USA and parts of Europe that would "out shine" any modded Japanese car.

Every nation is guilty of this. So lets be fair, and the Japanese make some cool cars (and bikes).

:)

I agree!

To be fair, I think the title should be "Do you think some people over modify their MINI to the point it looks ugly (or ricy)?" instead of stereotyping as "Japanese".

Look ugly/ricy or not, it all depends on the way people mod their cars. Not necessary Japanese cars is the only type of cars will look ugly after mod. Just that the Japanese car market is so huge around the world, different levels and grades of companies manufacture parts for mod. Some may be cheaper in quality and design and make the car looks ugly, and some are better built and look super great.

Also, I think the most important is the owner has to know when to stop, don't over kill the look. That's the most important.

Ugggg.... that is an abomination! A crime against nature!

A few months ago I saw one of the most disturbing things I had ever seen... a Jaguar S Type with *** hesitating for a moment *** spinners on the rims. WTF?!?!?

Back when I got my 78 Subaru I read a comment in one of the car rags that ventured the opinion that Japanese car styling often believes that each body panel much be interesting on it's own. The opinion being offered was that some cars were too busy looking because of this idea instead of looking at the whole car as one shape.

I think I see still see this method today, in cars from many countries.

I thought my red and black seat covers were a bit over the top but did it anyway. And as it turns out I get a tremendous amount of postive feedback on them. I'm stopped all the time...

As many have said though, to each his own. I'd rather see 10 modded cars of which only 3 are to my taste than 10 stock cars.
