Do you think some people over modify their MINI's to the point that it starts to look like a Japanese car (Civic and etc)?

Holy cow! What happened to that MINI? Do we know if the local criminal codes allow this? If not, let's turn them in and prosecute! Geez!

Someone actually sat down, drew pictures, received design approval, made moulds and attached them to a Mini. :eek:

I only popped in here to say that I think over-modifying until they look "Japanese" is a bit of an odd statement, there's many modded and purely ugly cars that come from the USA and parts of Europe that would "out shine" any modded Japanese car.

Every nation is guilty of this. So lets be fair, and the Japanese make some cool cars (and bikes).

i think some people modify their cars to the point were they look stupid. i see an escort regularly that has this huge asymetrical front bumper/spoiler thing - all the moulding runs diagonally from top right to bottom left across the front of the car, the poor thing looks like its had a stroke or something

That why I stayed away from the overused word "RICE". I have no problem with modded Japanese cars because thats their own unique style and many of them look pretty good but I think it odd when someone mods a Brittish car to the point that it looks more like a Honda Civic then a legendary Mini Cooper.

Mod your car the way YOU like it. I'm a big chrome fan myself but other people might not wanna go down that route. Having said that, I think the "MINI" in the photos at the start of this thread is hideous. But if the owner's happy...Got us all talking or paying attention but maybe that's the point with drastic mods!

The coolest thing about the MINI is that its unique so why would someone want to do generic Japanese-style mods that make it look like every other modded Honda Civic with a body kit and etc.

This is all just my opinion and Im sure there are those who disagree with it but I hope that more aftermarket companies get more creative and really start doing things that are truly different and unique and are worthy to be put on the MINI.

Old habits die hard! Or perhaps they feel they have the "equation" to sell products and make money off of it! Hence, apply that "equation" to everything and it will sell. That could be a costly mistake......

Since that isn't your car, I can be honest and say that it's DAMN UGLY. To see another example of flip colour paint, there is an example in the July edition of GO MINI magazine. Pretty impressive, but I definitely would not choose that colour combination of orange and purple.

Nice number plate on it, and definitely nicer than the one above IMO! But, as has been said, each to their own. Quite a few people at my work really don't like the stripes on my car.

But I have to say...Japanese auto style is definitely not that ugly....they actually have some fantastic looknig cars....

...perhaps it the western interpretation of asian auto style that often lands wide of the mark...and the types of people in the 'west' that are attracted to japanese cars that probably drag them down most people's eyes.....

More often then not, Japanese cars are superior to more expensive european and american cars....(in my opinion, of course....)

I've seen way more hideous cars (for my personal tastes) come out of the US...! (in Australia we often refer to them as 'Yank Tanks'):

Anyways, it's funny... I've never seen a Japanese Mini modded to look more Japanese. Instead, in Japan a lot of people mod their Mini to be more European! No, really... Tons of Union Jacks, wide european liscense plates, stickers...

Hey I happen to like that Caddilac !!! Ha Ha Seriously do. It reminds me of Boss Hog.

And as always to each his own. I personally think that Mini didn't look too good. I am sure that the body kit doesn't do too much for performance either.

But hey if you like it ROCK ON. Kinda Like Roseanne Bar, even she got some love and she's a hideous creature but someone thought she was the dog's ******** and married her (Tom Arnold).

i almost bought rims that were too "japanese" for a mini...instead, i wound up buying a japanese brand that looked like BBS wheels :D hehehe.
