I was unaware of this, but it gave me enough warning that I avoided a ticket . There was no car behind me and I went by the trap without a ticket. He must have given me a break then if it was already locked on. I bought a Passport 9500i and am very happy with it for a bunch of reasons.
Plus the trooper was busy with a car it looked like he just pulled over. However the day I got the ticket I was one of three cars pulled over by one trooper. He pulled me over came up to me and went back to his car and proceeded to pull over two more cars after entering his cruiser to enter each drivers info. Also on the pike at the end of the Pru tunnel before Fenway park there is a speedtrap set up with a unmarked Ford Expedition.

It sux, doesn't it. I wish there was somebody who would fight these for-profit traps using unmarked SUVs (paid by the tax payers), enforcing speed limits that were posted illegally in the first place... Oh, wait - there is an organization like that :)

I love the fact that they pick you out based on what you drive. What you drive influences them greatly I have had police officers that I grew up with admit this right to my face.

They sit there, around a bend in the bushes, and the alarm goes off. They have a split second to decide which one of the cars coming towards them is causing it. Then in court they'll routinely testify they visually estimated your particular speed to a mile per hour over a quarter mile distance, because that's what they were coached to say - without a second thought that they are under oath.

And the kicker is, most judges readily accept this testimony as if it were gospel.

I just wanted to share what happened a couple of weeks ago. I was driving on 395 from CT into MA around 1:30 am. Whenever I cross the MA border I will slow down to the speed limit because I know the state police are always tucked away where you can't see them to pull you over. Some cars had passed me and it was just me in the right lane. All of a sudden I had the statie riding my a**. I did not drive any faster. He finally went around me and when I was pulling off 395 onto my exit, I seen he had a car pulled over. It made me wonder if he was tailgating me to get me to go faster to pull me over. I still can't beleieve he did that.

Yes - state police has something called "quality violations." (http://www.motorists.org/ma/radar.html) (The faster you go, the better for the officer.)

Be aware that CT now has all-black unmarked Chargers running laser. I saw several this weekend.

DDon, the 9500 is an excellent unit. Be aware that there are a few proven software inconsistencies where if you lockout a known bogey, it ignores real police radar in the area too. As it locks out an entire mile, one or two of them can easily make it cover and ignore the entire city of boston. Just be a little more careful when you see the spinning satellite.
And yes, if it gave you a laser alert, the cop already had your speed--in fact, it often doesn't even go off as they target too low on your car for it to see. He was shaking his head that you were speeding, but he was going to wait for some fresher meat.
