: Horn EBMCS03 Aug 31st, 2004, 03:42 PM I wish I had a LOUD horn today. was being tailgated , even though I was behind someone. so I got over in plenty of time for my exit, then she speeds past just in time to squeeze in to take the same exit, its blocks away from my work so any sign language is ruled out (don't want to be flipping off my next boss :roll eyes: ), but a 118 db wake up sure would have been more satisfying. She might of even spilled her Latte or dropped her cellular, Heehaw... I think I'll E-mail them to see if it a pair of horns of just one.....
Oh ya... I wnated to know about those horns... I forgot. been busy all week. Post back if u find anything out. :) IBMiniG Aug 31st, 2004, 09:50 PM Here is their reply:
"I understand that you are considering our Hella Horns, but you have a question about them. The two horns are sold as a pair, and each have their own frequency; one at 300Hz, one at 500Hz. Combined, they sound similar to the horns found in many newer BMW's and Mercedes."
This is my question, is the OEM a horn or is it two horns, I also understand it is behind the front bumper, is this correct will there be enough room to fit these two. I also wonder how many decibels will be gained....anyone....TIA :) EBMCS03 Aug 31st, 2004, 09:56 PM Here is their reply:

Humm then those arnt that useful then.. the MINI horn already sounds like BMWs and Mercedes... Heck it sounds exactlly like BMWs I think... not much gain it seems. IBMiniG Aug 31st, 2004, 09:59 PM They do say they are 118db, I wonder what the stock is rated at, 118 db is LOOOOUUUUD (from my old car stereo installing days, anyone got a db meeter and some spare time??? Vincent Hill Aug 26th, 2005, 03:06 PM The Horn is waay to weak here in the US. We live in Washington DC and between the loud Music Head Phones for the Cell Phone, people do not even hear the Horn let alone look. My 1982 BMW 320I has a Real Horn Loud and Nasty. The 1976 911 had Air Horns that could be heard. After looking at this site today I ordered the set of Moss Horns with SHipping the same price as List for Mini Mania Voodoo Sep 15th, 2005, 07:26 PM After being cut off many times with my horns ignored, I installed a pair of Hella Supertones in my Maxima. (like the ones seen in this thread earlier). They are VERY loud, so much that people are surprised and really take notice when you need to 'correct' them.
I'm planning on getting another set eventually, for my on-order mini. I figure the little thing needs all the roar it can get.
Note, they draw a lotmore power than the originals, so the use of the included relay is recommended. Otherwise you could burn out your existing horn circuit, and that would really $ucK. | |
