My wife and I are looking to drive around Colorado, Utah, Arizona etc visiting sights and friends next summer, and would love to rent a Mini for the journey or nice convertible ( but preferably a Mini :D ). I'm having no real luck on the web, as rental firms are so unspecific about what car you will actually get when you arrive. Does anyone know of good web sites or places around there we could do this? Our itinerary isnt set, so we could fly into the west coast first (i love san francisco :cool: ) if that would help.

If you're flying into the west coast, you're more likely to find a rental place that would rent you a MINI, but it will be rare, just because its considered an exotic car. The only places that would rent one would also be renting porsches and ferraris. All of the normal, mainstream places you've heard of, Hertz, Avis, wouldn't be able to help you.

So if you're willing and determined to do this, there's a fair amount under the exotic category, but I don't have any experience with a specific company, here's a few I found on google - it usually works well to search for a location and exotic car rental.

Rent-a-Vette here in Las Vegas have MINIs but they want exorbitant amounts for them. I think the last time I called them, it was well over US$100 a day.
