I thought this was pretty cool, especially since Corgi Minis played a large part in my current obsession for the car. (from the Daily Telegraph)

The evergreen Mini remains a popular car with model collectors, none more so than this new release from Corgi, which depicts a street chase through Turin from The Italian Job.

Complete with cold-cast backdrop, the Mini pictured above costs £24.99. There's also a box set of Italian Job cars, featuring one red, one white and one blue Cooper, at £24.99 and a single Mini with racing driver figure and gold bullion costing £14.99.

Corgi's latest Mini marvel is the "Last Cooper S Set", a special edition costing £49.99. It features red, white and blue 1:36 die-cast Minis positioned side by side on a recreation of the Mini's distinctive dashboard and marked "End of an era". For all Corgi models, call 0845 603 9070 for stockists or visit www.corgiclassics.com for more information."

I know it's a bit negative sejanus, but I'm an avid die-cast collector, but Corgi's web site is, ummm.....pretty ordinary don't you think ?. They show that cool rally version of the mini sailing across their banner add, but I'm damned If I can find it to buy!!.

Anyone else think this, or am I whinging........

Hit their product of the month banner and I get a link error....been that way for months........

Actually, I hadn't checked out their website until you mentioned it Basil. I was just going off the Daily Telegraph article. It is a fairly ordinary website, but now you've opened up a whole can of nostalgic temptations for me, curse you!:D I haven't bought a Corgi since I was a kid (still got all the old ones in the garage though, except of course for the Mini which is on my computer monitor), but who knows what weaknesses I may succumb to now. I found both the Italian Job set under TV and Film and a whole bunch of Minis and MINIs under the classic collectibles section.

Follow the link in my original post and then go to the US Corgi site. I would think these would be under the UK site as well. The Italian Job was a page or two along.

Hi there,

Corgi have just issued me with their 2nd half 2002 Catalogue. They are releasing 2 new models that may be of interest to MINI owners.
The first is a 1/36 scale model of the Superchips MINI as road tested on this site.
The second is a set of 3 New MINIs mounted on a resin plinth similar to the set of old Coopers pictured above.
I will try and post a picture as soon as I can.

Anyone who is interested in these can e-mail me timdunlop@lineone.net

Regards

Tim
