: You know what I've never noticed before..... stephenjc Feb 7th, 2005, 01:47 PM My dealer guy pointed out those lights to me as well as in the door pulls. One other thing he pointed out that I may have never noticed is how the heat/AC controls are designed to replicate the MINI wing symbol. I think that is a very cool detail. If I was showing off, I would have said I found this out in 2001. Adding that one of the design team told me over evening drinks in Italy at the MINI Cooper launch.

But I didn't mention that, so I'm obviously not showing off.

lol......:p Hat Feb 10th, 2005, 01:03 PM i found out how to operate the follow-me-home lights on my '05 car last weekend, completely by accident.
turn off the ignition, turn off the lights & then flash the lights once by pulling the light stalk towards you as if flashing someone & they come back on for the pre-programmed interval. in the '02 car you had turn turn off the ignition before turning off the lights & the headlights only would stay on. now all the lights - headlights, sides & rears come on Gr8Dain Feb 10th, 2005, 06:19 PM i found out how to operate the follow-me-home lights on my '05 car last weekend, completely by accident.

Is that how I did that???? I knew it happened, but had no idea how I did it. I waited there and looked at them until they went off. I won't ever use that feature. I am such a worry wart that I will just assume that they have not gone off and I will have a dead battery. Yes I am crazy. I know it. :D
And I noticed the mud puddle lights for the first time the other night. Granted, we have only had the car for a month, and I don't get to drive it everyday. :D KevinR Feb 11th, 2005, 05:50 PM Yes - it is a right angle surface mount LED, but you also have to fit both a resistor and a "3 leg diode" package (reverse battery protection - I guess you could just jumper that if you wanted).
Maybe I should take some pics ...
Please do. A how-to would be very helpful. :) Root Ginger Feb 11th, 2005, 06:06 PM Is that how I did that???? I knew it happened, but had no idea how I did it. So have you ever taken the shelfs out of your fridge, sat in it and shut the door, just to make sure the light went off :D Gr8Dain Feb 11th, 2005, 06:33 PM So have you ever taken the shelfs out of your fridge, sat in it and shut the door, just to make sure the light went off :D
Ummmm .....NO. Can't say that I have. There is this little switch, you see ..... :D
I am obsessive about my cars, but not my fridge. Maybe it is a fear that someone would trap me in there!!!! Gr8Dain Feb 11th, 2005, 06:35 PM Am I controlled by my fears? I haven't tried it yet...but, I read the manual again last night (it's been my favourite reading material for over a month!), and this morning I tried opening the windows and sunroof (at the same time) using the door lock toggle switch! It works!!! :D Frodo Feb 20th, 2005, 09:05 PM Okay, I just ran ourside to see all my kewl lights...
I only have the ones under the switches.
I don't have the ones under the doors, door pulls, or mirror. What gives, is it a 2004+ thing? ( I have a 03) GBMINI Feb 20th, 2005, 10:07 PM I don't have the ones under the doors, door pulls, or mirror. What gives, is it a 2004+ thing? ( I have a 03)

my MCS has a parking light option, you can push the indicator stalk down to put the left sidelight on, or up to put the right sidelight on when leaving on a busy road over night:)

Fantastic!! Are the LED's easily available in that shape... like from RS Components? Can you get Blue ones?? Little business there if people could post there switches to you and get one back inthe right colour...or just order one from you. GBMINI May 1st, 2005, 08:05 PM Fantastic!! I am sure you can get these easily enough - I have not bothered to track down sources since I was able to steal from another panel.
A quick look around RS components gave me Siemens LSA670 (http://www.chipdocs.com/datasheets/datasheet-pdf/Siemens/LGA670.html) which looks about right - but no blue.
There is someone who replaced all their LED backlights (speedo, rev counter, etc) with blue ... try this MINI2 search result (http://www.mini2.com/forum/showthread.php?t=56299&highlight=blue+led) for example. Thats fantastic! Great thread link. Shame the Siemens come in only traffic light colours. I just cant believe it was 50 LEDS for that guy to convert the whole think! lots of soldering. | |
