So that's not where your name originated? I'd just assumed that.

No, this is my user name on multiple boards. It comes from my two given names, Sherry April, and a little bit of a pun. :)

I"ve been registered on MINI2 since March 2002 and took delivery of my first MINI in June 02. :)

I got the premium pkg and the conv. pkg, so the driving lights had to go, along with the parking dist. meter that I originally wanted, plus, being in the city, I didn't think the extra light was really warrented(sp?) in my case... I can see how they'd come in handy though on those dark country roads :)

Yeah, that was me too. There were a few other options that I wanted, but for some of them I just couldn't justify the extra cost. Everyone talks about the regular headlights being enough light. Does that mean that it's bad that I want the driving lights because they will look cool...not because I actually want them for the light?

Pamlico - Thanks for the eBay info - I just might have to check those out! Apparently you can buy anything on eBay! :)

Not at all! I think it's pretty likely that my new MINI will gain driving lights eventually, after the initial financial shock of buying the car has worn off some :) Then again, the second worst part of my current car is the headlights, so I'm desperate for as much lighting as I can get (the worst part is, believe it or not, the horn. It does not honk. It wheezes.). So I see driving lights as both functional and stylish!

Resolve left port...with my MINI loaded!!!

YEA!

Congrats Ken! Now you can sit back for a while and relax, knowing your MINI is happily swimming across the pond. It's a lot more soothing than waiting for it to be loaded onto a ship in port! :)

KEN! KEN!! KEN!!! You got on the boat! Congratulations! With our similar situations of waiting for a boat, I know how excited you must be. :)

And Tom - congratulations to you too. Yippee! Tom and Ken both have boats!

btdoyle - I think someone may have already answered this for you, but yes - it is possible to be scheduled for a WW and then get sent to a K-Line. That happened to me, Taz, and a few others. As a matter of fact, for those of us that were bumped from the Takasago (Ben's ride), our K-Line vessel is scheduled to arrive in Charleston, SC on MONDAY!

I guess that only leaves a few of us left in the March group waiting for boats. But not to worry - you guys will have boats soon too.

The most amazing thing I read tonight was April's very short waiting time. I realized that it was short, but WOW!

Oh it's almost scary what all you can find for sale on eBay

Just for fun, I went to eBay motors (which is cars, parts, etc) and typed in Mini Cooper and it came back with over a 1000 entries for anything related to Minis. I couldn't believe it....there must have been 9 million antennas of all sizes and styles for sale. Is this something big that I am not aware of? sheeeeeeeesh!
You know how us obsessed people are..we just had to buy something Mini related off eBay, even though our car hasn't seen dry land over here yet. Go figure.

That's the secret to your super-quick time for your Mini! You had preferential treatment because you already had one! (they know to not keep a lady waiting a second time :D )

Either that or you batted your eyelashes at him and the Dockmaster went weak-kneed.

Thanks Debbie, I am amazed at my luck.

I sold my VW TDI Beetle on Ebay when I ordered my MINI. Got a good price and it went to a good home. :)

It's probably not longevity as I've also been registered here since June '02, and took delivery of my first MCS in August '02 (they weren't available much before then). But I ordered my '05 on Feb. 19 and ended up on the same boat as April W. I tried the eyelashes and clevage trick but I still ended up having to wait 7 weeks - I think it took them that long to stop laughing.

Actually 7 weeks is fairly reasonable compared to our previous experience of ordering in very early June but not getting delivery until the very end of August.

My Mini was received at the terminal on 3/23. It didn't get loaded on the MB and as of 8:43 eastern time tonight was not loaded on the Resolve which left port today. There were Minis that were received at the terminal today that were loaded on the Resolve. Why didn't mine get loaded? I don't understand. You would think that if I missed the MB then I would automatically get loaded on the Resolve. Can anybody tell me what is going on? The next ship arrives on 4/7/05. I am totally bummed.

Don't be bummed. I bet that means that you are with btdoyle and on a K-Line too. With mine, I didn't find out about it until three days later when ASK-MINI updated. So, it could actually be very good news that you didn't get loaded today because it most likely means that you are already sailing across the pond on a different line. I hope that's the case!

Debbie is right, not getting loaded on the Resolve is probably good news.

Check the OL and see if it has updated with a delivery date yet?

I see that Taz posted a K-Line link for you, but here's another one for you. Ben posted this one yesterday. It shows all ships expected to dock in Charleson, so you can see what's coming up. Mine doesn't show as K-Line though. It shows as WILMINGTON SHIPPING CO. AND. Basically, look for the non-WW ships that show vehicles as their cargo, and you should be able to find a few. And to give you a timeframe, our boat (Frisia) left on the 21st and will be docking in Charleston on the 4th (Monday).

http://www.port-of-charleston.com/Vessel_schedule.asp

Hope that helps. I spent a little time on the K-Line site, but it's not near as user-friendly as the WW site, so I just gave up on tracking. At least on the Charleston site, you can easily determine what's what. Good luck, and let us know what you find out!

You think our MINI's have already left on a K-line? I'm not so sure about that. I just called ASK-MINI and I am still waiting at the port. The last ship left Monday the 28th and the next will leave next Monday the 4th. I really hope we get on that ship. I'm tired of waiting! Would there still be a chance that the WW-site isn't yet totally updated? I can't believe other MINI buyers are so lucky that they get loaded in 1-2 days after being received at port!

I just don't understand. If you are right and I am on a k-line then why is my car still listed on the Resolve booking site on the WW line? If I'm on a K-line then how do I know which one? The OL still lists me as waiting for transport. The only positive thing to this is that by the time I get my car the weather in PA should be pretty decent. We are to get snow this weekend.

In the best of times the OL web page can lag behind reality by a couple of days. Once the car gets to the port things generally fall further behind. For example, my car was on the boat for about 5 days before the automated status updated and it then took another 1 1/2 days for the web page to catch up.

ASK-MINI said I was awaiting transportation five days after the boat I'm riding sailed.

If I remember correctly, the same thing happened with mine. I was booked for the Takasago, and when it left the port, my number still showed up as being booked, but not loaded. Then later my number just disappeared from the site. Then about a week later, I found out that I had been loaded on a K-Line four days after the Takasago left. I think if you asked Taz, his story is about the same. As for which K-Line, your MA should be able to give you a B of L number that you can check. In our case, my MA told me what day it left and what day it was supposed to arrive and Taz (that was you, correct?) looked on one of the sites to see what ship was arriving near that time. That's the only bad thing about the K-Line - you can't obtain info as easily. But, with me, I was so happy that I was headed across the pond that I didn't care how it was getting here.

It seems pretty standard that ASK-MINI updates a couple of days before the OL. When mine was loaded, ASK-MINI updated about three days later, and then the OL updated a day or two after that. That help? Any at all? Think positive thoughts. Your MINI will be here soon!

Yep...what she said. :D
I might add that your MA may or may not be able to give you a B of L though. Mine never did although many in this thread DID get one from theirs. (I still haven't figured that one out)
For 3 days the OL showed me stranded on the pier like a pelican but when it finally updated, I was able to see that a K-Line vessel snuck in and snatched ours up. (The Frisia is the name of our partybarge)
Basically, for a week after the car was built, I was checking the websites daily and bugging my MA that much too. I swore I wouldn't do that, but failed miserably, and one day it just happened to show us as "enroute". Heck, I was the one who called our MA to tell her that it was enroute. And you just never know when it'll happen because I had checked that morning with no luck. I checked again in the afternoon (out of sheer boredom) and lo-n-behold it was headed home. :D
Good luck to the ones still waiting. (I empathize  )

Ok looking at a couple things this is what I have come up with. Reached the port on the 22nd. did not make it on the MB and the ANDES HIGHWAY left on the 28th. I am assuming I am on this because it has a vehicle payload too. It is supposed to be in SC on the 11th of april. It makes no sense that they would load the cars that have just reached the docks before they would load cars waiting for a boat still. Looking at the booking number for the resolve and the time stamps on when the cars got loaded, the cars started getting loaded around the 14:30 time stamp, this is about the earliest time stamp for cars that were recieved at dock on the 25th and the the time stamp get later as the date recieved at the dock gets closer to april. So. If my car was on the dock, I would think that they would have been loaded early.
What I think has occured was any car that was recieved before the 25th is now on a k-line, which i believe to be the andes highway. This is due at the SC port on the 11th, only two days after the MB. So claudia and Ikrause, if your mini was recieved at dock before the 25th then I would guess we are all on the andes highway.

Hope it's okay to post this - it's off-topic, but I thought you guys might enjoy it. This is my husband's new plate. I think it's quite cute. Our last name is Packer. His nickname since high school has been Pac, or Pac-Man as the people at work call him. And this is his new MINI and license plate. Get it? So far, there have been more confused people than people who understand what it means.

I'm excited - my plate comes Tuesday. How cool - a license plate, valve stem caps, accessory holder, and a MINI tee...but no MINI! :(

Sorry for the newbie question - but how are you figuring out which vessel your mini is on? I know mine is at sea, but given the delay from OL, it's hard to figure. I do know it was released from production on 3/18...

Thanks,

You are west coast so it is much harder to track ships going to you. It is more of a guessing game for you. There are ways of doing it with your bill of loading number which you can get from your MA but some MAs dont provide it and then you have to search a bunch of different shipping companies. In otherwords. Its going to be hard for you.
