: MARCH 2005 Group ryanelp80 Mar 11th, 2005, 04:09 PM It's probably on an NYK boat, unless you haven't even received your VIN yet. If you have, and you know it's at the port, but WW doesn't recognize the VIN, then it's probably on a NYK boat.
Well, I checked the WW site again this morning, still nada, I found the NYK site and still found nothing. I'm starting to think that I should stop wondering about it to save myself the stress... with a production date of 3/3, you'd think it would have been loaded onto a boat already, maybe I'm overlooking something on the sites I've been looking at, I dunno... Would ASK MINI know if it has been loaded if I called them? dpacker Mar 11th, 2005, 04:39 PM When you call ASK-MINI, do you have to talk to a live person to get more information than your car is currently in production, and expected date of completion is March 15th? That's what the automated system keeps saying, so I was wondering if you talk to a live person if they have more information. Of course, I don't want to seem impatient or anything. :)
By the way, if my car is expected to complete production on the 15th, how long from that day does it typically take one to get loaded on a boat?
I'm so excited that I just can't stand it! I realized this too. I'm going to be so disappointed if my car arrives at the dealer on a Monday and I have to wait until Saturday to go pick it up! :(
dp AprilWhine Mar 11th, 2005, 04:41 PM Got my production date today: March 21! Hurrah!
If it follows the same schedule as my last MINI, it will be loaded on the boat by March 28, and at my dealer by April 25. Got my fingers crossed. :) HoustonMini Mar 11th, 2005, 05:18 PM Congrats April on the new info. Best of luck to you to receive in a hurry.

Mine was finished with Production on Feb. 28th. and Loaded on a vessel day before yesterday. I was original booked on the Resolve but was not loaded on it. The live person *can* give you more info - I took the opportunity to ensure that the specification they had for my car was what it was supposed to be. I had a very good experience with the live person when I called last week - he was extremely helpful and informative. On the other hand, I talked with a different live person this week, and she would only provide me with nfo that my car had started production.
It's worth a try if only to confirm your specifications - I've read several horror stories of cars being delivered that were not as-ordered.

That's one week from the end of production to boat. :) I think it took my last MINI six days. That was in May 2002, I would think they are more efficient now. I called ASK MINI and my car has been sitting at the port since 3/4 with no date in sight scheduled for transport. The gentleman I spoke with said there are a few different boats coming into port within the next couple of days, but that there was no info as of yet to which mine may be put on.
I did ask him to clarify some of the things I had heard regarding West Coast (US) cars being transported more often on non-WW ships and he disputed that. He said between 80-90% of ALL MINI's are sent out on WW ships... Taking into consideration the time difference, it is unlikely and new info will pop up on my car today, but he said I should call again tomorrow, and if there is still no info, to call again on Monday... Wonder if some of that "back-up" on the Feb. cars has our March production cars back-logged? paulr Mar 11th, 2005, 10:38 PM Got my production date today: March 21! Hurrah!

Same here! The wait is almost over :) Week 12, completion on March 21. I was told it should arrive in Chicago by Apr 21.
Now I have to lock in a loan rate. My MA told me that if I apply for the BMW loan on the OL that the March rate will lock till I get [my yet to be named] MINI. Yikes! I didn't even think of that! I would be so disappointed if it came in different than I requested. Thanks for the tip. I'm off to call!
Okay...I'm back. Just called and talked to a very nice guy named Jason. He read off all of my options, and then told me that my MINI was in the paint shop. Yippee! I'm so exicited..my MINI is in the paint shop!! :D :D :D

What you're saying makes sense to me -- the W-W website quotes 22-24 days for the trip, and of course there's time at each end as the vehicles are loaded and off-loaded.
All very interesting, since my dealer swore when I placed the order that it'd 6-8 weeks for delivery. 8 might be possible if the stars aligned perfectly, 6 seems impossible.
Relative to the 1+ year that some folks are having to wait, I have nothing to complain about. :) AprilWhine Mar 13th, 2005, 12:34 AM What about after the 21st? My mini is scheduled to be completed on the 23rd :(

I almost feel guilty over getting an MCSCa so fast. :D I have a very good dealer. Magictux Mar 13th, 2005, 10:57 AM My car is on the TAMPA which left Southampton on 12th March. Next stop U.S.. Any of you American cousins have a car on the Tampa?

Tux btdoyle Mar 13th, 2005, 03:31 PM Im confused. My mini is scheduled to be done on the 23rd of march. I checked the miniusa owners lounge today and it also says that its scheduled for production but then i clicked on the review your order detail button and it gives me my VIN number as well as my production number. If it wasnt supposed to be done till the 23rd how does it already have a VIN number? When do they assign the VIN numbers? rsinsheimer Mar 13th, 2005, 03:44 PM They assign the VIN when they commit the car to production. click on the 'voyage number' and the next screen will show the itinerary and it appears that locations that have been passed are in red.. You'll see what I mean. The ship is on it's way to the U.S.

Hey Mr. April build. get out of our forum.. No just kidding you can tag along if you like I guess :D Yes there is a tread like that. look in the general forum as I am sure that is where it would be. Ken30307 Mar 14th, 2005, 03:38 PM Hey,
I ordered my MCC on the 9th of March. I got very lucky..because the dealer had a week 12 production slot that I could modify..so I got my order in just in time. By my calendar week 12 is the 20-26 of March ...they say my MINI is still "on order" with no production date yet. But I can't complain since I got so lucky with the order!

Call your dealer/motoring advisor. I had no info on the WW site, NYK has no way to track, and the owner's lounge was in limbo. So, I called my MA and he said it left Southampton on March 7th and will arrive in Charleston on March 18th. He also said it won't be very long at the distribution center before it heads off to the dealer. So, I could quite possibly get mine by the second-to-last week of the month. | |
