Yes. I thought "sparkle" fit the MINIs as a collective noun. :)

Well the MB should arrive in Baltimore, MD today... only a few days left now :)

On a somber note, my wife told me to stop spending money on accessories last night :( :D That's going to be hard!

Woops! Corrected that really quick!! :p

rsinsheimer, the only books I have for accessories are the 2005 you-ification workbook and the two motoring gear booklets. I think there is also a JCW book.

You must be on the ship after mine -- the Bujin was originally supposed to be at Port Hueneme on the 3rd, but for whatever reason has been delayed to the 7th. I reconfirmed with my MA today that the 7th is still the date he's seeing in his system as the arrival date at the VPC. Given that two ships are coming in so close together, I can imagine there might some delay for your car as they process two ship's-worth over such a short period of time.

I'm a bit mystified that the Bujin never seems to have docked in San Diego, perhaps they're skipping that port on this trip, even though the NYK Line route map shows their ships stopping at SD, LA, then PH.

http://www.sdmis.org/schedule/ for those who are interested in seeing what's happening in the San Diego port.

Thanks for that link, Roger! I just checked it and it looks like bad news for me too! It shows Capricornus Leader arriving in San Diego on April 16, with it's last port being Baltimore, MD. It was supposed to arrive at Port Hueneme on April 12. Now it looks like I've got at least an extra week to wait. I may be away on work-related travel when it does arrive, but that's not the real bad news: I secured a great loan rate (3.24%) from my credit union back in February, but it expires on April 25! If I can't take delivery by then, I have to re-apply, and I know the rates are higher now.

Ouch!

BTW: I've been following the March-build thread daily, but have remained in the background as news was scarce on the NYK line to the west coast. Finally some news, and it's not great.

Guess I'll go sulk for a while...

Believe it or not, what got me in trouble was me saying "I should get the rubber boot mat"

I'll post a list later today!

Thanks Roger - I think you are right. I originally thought the date it left the port was 3/14 so 22 days would be ... but the MA indicated 4/10 and given it's still "en route" on the OL & ASKMINI, I suppose she had good information. So perhaps 4 days in the processing center, plus a week equals 4/21 at MINI North Scottsdale. That'd be ok - birthday #36 for me :)

Thanks for the SD link!

Not long now Ken! A sparkle of MINIs just arrived in SC. :)

That is great - you've coined it so you deserve the credit - I hope MINI sees this and picks it up for marketing - it'd get picked up and make it into everyday language. I can see the advertisement now - from black, MINI logo, then blackboard w/ clear MINI font in white: "What's a sparkle of MINI's" - then a collage of images, from volunteer efforts, to owner groups gathering for organized runs - Sun glistening off the paint - transition to smiling faces, cue music, dub to black, MINI :)

Wow..you've got me beat!

I have the California Car duster (only 3 bucks clearance at Target)
Glovebox organizer
Boot Liner
Parcel thingy
various cleaning supplies

and oh..I'm doing 20K exterior renovations on my house so that my Pure Silver MINI won't look out of place next to my house.

Actually, I decided to get a home equity loan to pay for the car..and figured I might as well take out some extra money to do some renovations I was planning to do over the next few years..so in a way..it's true.

Thanks a lot all you guys for buying accessories..ya got me into the act now :o
I wasn't gonna get anything until the car was in our hot little hands but an email from Moss Mini had some closeout stuff and I lost my composure a little. (not much, but enough). I wanted something to look slightly different UNDER the hood (for when people ask if that little car really has an engine in it). I thought a little color would be in order. I picked up a bunch of billeted aluminum stuff like;

1) A mini logo Dipstick (red anodized alum.)
2) Power Steering cap (ditto)
3) Radiator Cap (ditto)
4 Oil Cap (ditto)

Everything under the hood was rather dark so I thought this might make it less drab.
(notice everything was safe junk that won't screw with warranty?)
I want to put colored radiator hoses on too, but I want to talk to the mechanics first. We'll see how they take to that idea.

For those of you still waiting for a ship the booking # for the NY portion is GBSOU307470. I still don't have the # for the SC portion yet. Hope this helps someone find their MINI. :)

Oooh - I want these too (note to self, order from the office) :p

So far I've ordered:
glovebox tidy (red of course!)
auto up kit
ice link plus (boot cd changer version so I don't have to rip apart the radio)

tonight:
CR/B MINI robot (to add to my collection of Godzilla monsters at the office)
the t-shirt that says "I have one and you don't"
the red aluminum stuff from moss mini

will order from the dealer:
rubber S floor mats (just the front)
chrome mirror caps
alarm (2005 version) when it is released
note - no rubber boot mat :(

still undecided:
R99 rims (with Kumhos)
compact spare

LOL. Not to worry. I always buy my oil by the case. I would have bought some from you. Castrol Syntec can get a little scarce around these parts.

FWIW, all that stuff I ordered is on closeout, (yes, I'm terribly cheap) so you can buy knowing you were a smart-consumer! :D
Also, forgot to mention that the wife wanted that decal for the side windows that says "Actual Size". We picked those up on ebay this week. So far that's about the extent of our accessories until the Mini gets here. We still plan on Phillips silvervision bulbs (turnsignals) and white sidemarkers. The clear taillights are a strong possibility too, depending on how much.
Safe to say, most of you guys have me beat for buying goodies. but gimme time... :D

Alright, guys and gals!!! It's here! This car is absolutely amazing. It's MINI in all the places it should be (design, spirit, controls) and BMW in all the places it should be (build quality!). No rattles, absolutely no problems with the car at all. I just drove it back from Winston-Salem to Roanoke and had an absolute blast (although I'm still trying to learn the manual transmission.) I am 100% thrilled with both the car and the delivery experience... you guys are going to LOVE your cars when they arrive. It's totally worth the wait.

I'll try to get some pictures up in my personal gallery in a few minutes here.

And Debbie, I asked about your car. My MA remembered you, but it's definitely not there yet. The lot is overflowing with MINIs - they had them parallel parked in an additional row, there were so many. I'm sure yours will arrive soon!

Hey! :) Congratulations on your :red: MINI! That had to be such an absolute blast driving home this evening! And don't worry, you will master the manual transmission soon. I think that will make it even more fun getting to know your MINI.

Thanks for asking about mine. I hadn't e-mailed my MA, but turns out that my husband has been talking to him via e-mail the past couple of days. They were going to trick/surprise me if it came in this week. Looks like it won't be available for pickup this Saturday though (unless a miracle happens), but that's okay. I'll wait patiently.

Congratulations again! I'll be looking for your pictures. Hope you have a good time on your trip. Waiting to get back to drive your MINI will probably be just as hard as waiting on it to arrive! Have a great weekend!

OK, here's a good shot of the car, and some more of the photos from the showroom are uploaded to my personal gallery. I left out a few so there would be an element of surprise to the process for those of you who don't have your MINI yet - but I will say that the presentation of the car when I first got to the showroom was just too cool.

I need to take the car out in good lighting and have a photo shoot, but that's going to have to wait until I'm back from St. Louis...

Roughly 155 miles on the clock so far (there were 11 at delivery)- 1045 to go to get through break-in! It's not tough to drive the car under 4500 rpm (and it will probably help fuel economy besides) - but at the same time, it's constantly begging you to use the power that's available! :)
