: MARCH 2005 Group Tazminia Apr 8th, 2005, 03:57 AM Steve, I'm in a similar situation. I just talked to my MA tonight and she told me that my car should be ready by tuesday. She doesn't work on tuesdays and we want her to be there since we have dealt with her all along so we are waiting until wednesday to go up and grab our car. Soooo, pics will be up soon thereafter. :D
Dang, all this waiting will be finally coming to an end. Yea, I like the idea of that!
BTW, as I'm sure all the Chicago dealership people know, they are coming in by the truckload according to the MA. LOTS of Minis will be going out the door this week. And a lot of them are in our little band of indians here. (yes, I'm part indian so I can say that ;) )
Taz
(that's indian for "Walks like a wounded Yak") bandrews Apr 8th, 2005, 04:06 AM Well mate,
it had a bit of problem...
That picture is the best thing I've ever seen posted on MINI2. I was browsing the forums with a bunch of friends gathered around here in our hotel room and all five of us just started screaming in laughter! :) :) :)
Ben Ken30307 Apr 8th, 2005, 10:57 AM The RESOLVE docks in New Jersey tomorrow! Unload the babies and send it down to Charleston quickly!
I'm in MINIapolis now..and I haven't seen a single MINI..what's the deal? Actually yesterday on the way home from work I saw a PW MINI and I wanted to wave..but I knew I wasn't really part of the family yet...is there a wave for..mine is on the way?

It's the same as the regular wave, except you have less chance of getting a wave back :) I started waving to MINIs a few months ago, and got a few weird looks and a few laughing folks waving right back... but it was fun each time!
As far as I'm concerned, anyone who likes the MINI is part of the club... if a little kid waves at me from the back of the family truckster, I'm sure gonna wave back! ;)
Ben rsinsheimer Apr 8th, 2005, 01:48 PM Okay, so now ASK MINI is back to saying that the car is in transit.
I suppose that could mean that they're going to move it from the dock to the VDC today?!? That would/could be defined as "transit".
Maddening.

Ken,
Until you actually receive your MINI it's inappropriate to wave at
MINIs. If you just give a look of breathless anticipation, they'll understand. ;)
Oh. There is going to be a delay in the Resolve leaving NJ. It seems that Buckingham Palace found out that my MINI was on it and well....you can imagine the rest. The Queen is coming over, big reception, etc. We'll try to wrap it up as soon as possible but we don't want to offend anyone. Sorry Ken. :p
Tom paulr Apr 8th, 2005, 03:17 PM Since I need some thing to keep me from going crazy on my daily commute to work each day till the MINI arrives :D , I've started to whip up some t-shirt ideas.
At the moment I only have Photoshop Elements on my notebook. This design was done with it. Too many limitations to do anything properly and serious with Elements. So in a few moments I'll install Illustrator 10 and Photoshop 7 and do things right!
Comments and criticisms welcome ...disclaimer: it's my first attempt at design since completing my BFA 10 years ago  :D
BTW - I'm keeping things simple, a few solid colors, etc, to keep costs down if we decide to get any of these printed.
I would like suggestions on tag lines!
More designs to come!

Hi - I'm not a BFA or MFA but I perceive the design to be "busy" vs. "clean & clear" - perhaps focusing on one design detail of the 05 model or one car might help. I think the overlapping images may contribute to this perception.
Tag lines - I think "A Sparkle of MINI's" is genius - see posts earlier in this thread where it was coined - Sparkle could resonate in the design across image and text. "March MINI Production 2005" could cross the bottom. A small series of distinct frontal views, emphasis on bright headlamps (deisgn or a touch of color) might work?
2nd idea - March 2002 MINI came to the US - so we have three years to celebrate, so something that picks up on this might be fn.
IMHO - FWIW - fun idea - Scott Mk2 Colonial Viper Apr 8th, 2005, 04:11 PM Okay, so now ASK MINI is back to saying that the car is in transit.

Hi - I just called to check after reading your post and at 9:04 this morning it still states "at the port awaiting a shipping vessel" - why the difference, no idea .... It very well could mean your was processed quickly and mine is waiting for a tractor/trailer transport to Arizona/in that general direction.

Scott, Scott, Scott.
Processing of your MINI through the VDC/VPC is (by report) a 3-working-day minimum exercise, assuming no damage to be repaired. So your (and my) MINI will most likely be spending the weekend in Oxnard.
:(
But when they're finished, when it's lookiing it's shiniest best, then it'll be put on a truck and sent on it's way to you.
:D
I think your interpretation of the messages is probably reasonable (this is like reading tea leaves!). I'll guess that my car's been scheduled to be driven over to the VDC/VPC, yours hasn't been scheduled yet, or maybe it has, but there's a time cutoff for the ASK MINI system by which its status has to change for your message to change today. Or maybe they've all driven off the ship into the harbor and they're doing their best inverted glass-bottom-boat imitation (I know my car has a skylight) on the bottom of the harbor?!?
-- Roger ryanelp80 Apr 8th, 2005, 04:41 PM Yes, ASK MINI also says my MINI is "at the port, awaiting a shipping vessel" so I am in the same boat (no pun intended) as you other west coasters :) Hopefully we will all be on our merry way to our respective dealerships on Monday/Tuesday next week :) *crossing my fingers* Mk2 Colonial Viper Apr 8th, 2005, 04:42 PM Scott, Scott, Scott.

You sound like the voice of reason like Alan Greenspan to my irrational exuberance :)
So maybe next Friday they'll be news and then the following weekend? or the one after?
Mine would also look like the glass bottom boat - it's HB/W w/ all the chrome, premium pkg, DSC, front & rear fog lights & R81's :) The fish would love the sparkle!
I'm logging off for a couple days - though this puzzle is fun - off to Chicago to get some wind, back Wed. Can't stand to take a laptop through security these days.
Scott Kellzir Apr 8th, 2005, 04:55 PM Monkeynet - that is looks good for a first attempt. I agree with Mk2 Colonial Viper to add "A sparkle of minis" to the shirt somewhere. dpacker Apr 8th, 2005, 05:05 PM Okay, so now ASK MINI is back to saying that the car is in transit.

Mine went from "waiting for shipping vessel" after getting off of the boat to "in transit", then back to "waiting for shipping vessel" and back to "in transit" again. I think those are just their generic terms for any time the car is waiting for transportation or is being transported. If you don't check everyday to hear all of the changes though, it could be confusing to figure out where your MINI is.
My delivery date finally changed from 4/12 to tomorrow 4/9, but if it's only going less than two hours up the road to the dealer, I would think it would be there today. My problem for the last couple of days is that I don't know who to believe. My husband had been talking via e-mail (secretly) to my MA in an attempt to tell me that my car wasn't going to make it - then he was going to surprise me tomorrow. On Wednesday he told me all of this and then told me that the MA said there was no way it would be there and ready by Saturday. Now I see this information that makes me think otherwise, so I don't know if my husband is still playing tricks to confuse me, or if it's really not going to be there. As if waiting wasn't bad enough!
Hope everyone is doing well this week. I've been keeping my posts down to stay off of the top of the list. :-)

I really like the design you've come up with. The cluster of cars captures the fact that there are a whole group of us who've been waiting for lots of cars.
To me the design is clean, bold and arty. I think it's cool. jeffu Apr 8th, 2005, 07:01 PM I really like the design you've come up with. The cluster of cars captures the fact that there are a whole group of us who've been waiting for lots of cars.

What else am I supposed to do while waiting for my MINI if I don't have this to read...I'll have to bug my friends...you don't want to be the reason my friends won't answer their phone when I call..do you?
absolutely ZERO to report here...just.........waiting............
When I slipped and mentioned my MINI to a friend of mine..he said "you need to get a hobby" and I replied "what do you think THIS is?"

In the mean time, here are three more to ponder. :red:

Same here :( Still playing phone-tag with my MA. At this point, it's almost easier to drive out to the dealer. But the MB should be docking in SC any day now.
-paul Mk2 Colonial Viper Apr 9th, 2005, 12:26 AM I think the four bar design is great! How about "A Sparkle of MINIs" across the top and "March MINI production 2005" across the bottom?
The headlamp design is fun but the sparkle idea is a good one, so plural :) I also like the anniversary them, but if I only get to vote for one, it's your first design!
Scott gaminicool Apr 9th, 2005, 12:28 AM What about something with a cabrio on it? :D  :D

Any word on your delivery date yet from Global Imports? Who's your MA again? gaminicool Apr 9th, 2005, 12:44 AM Ken - not sure on the date. I think it's arriving on a K-line to Charleston 4/11 and then hopefully to Global 4/18. I was booked on the MB then the Resolve then my info disappeared. Although the OL says Delivery date of 4/11. I think that's when it hits Charleston.
Diana Whitlock is my MA and she has been great.
I'm ready - tired of waiting.
My original order was placed 10/31. I changed my mind a couple of times  and then decided to wait to get the factory armrest. Ken30307 Apr 9th, 2005, 01:31 AM Ken - not sure on the date.
