congrats Ken, I was the same way when I orderd mine back on Feb. 12th. I got lucky and was built shortly there after. It's been a month now and my MINI is already on a boat (same as headly21's we think) and due to arrive on the 18th. :D What a long work week this is going to be. I suspect you'll be getting yours around the end of April.

And for those curious about following their MINI's, when in doubt, call ASK-MINI. They are great people and will help you out with anything you need.

Wow - you did get really lucky. I ordered mine two days after you, and mine is just finishing production tomorrow. You must have ordered at the absolute perfect time for a short waiting period. That's really cool.

Sounds like YOU are the lucky one. You ordered 2 days AFTER me and yours is finishing production tomorrow. What production week did you get? I checked with ASKMINI and they said my car is still "on order". She said week 12 was the last week of the March (that seems like week 13 to me). But I'm trying to be patient. My MA said he expected me to be motoring by mid to late April. I'm just hoping to get it by my birthday (May 17).

Ken, where are you located? And now I feel VERY special being able to receive my car so soon. At one point I was suppose to be a Week 12 production as well. Good thing that got moved up a few weeks.

I'm in Atlanta...and I my MA is at Global Imports MINI. I'm so glad to have the M2 forum otherwise I'd be driving my friends (even more) crazy with all my MINI talk.

Hey Mr. April build. get out of our forum.. No just kidding you can tag along if you like I guess :D Yes there is a tread like that. look in the general forum as I am sure that is where it would be.

Psssh, I'm a dork, what I originally meant to say was.... "if mine goes out (on the ship) on 3/19 (not 4/19), then I'll be getting it... blah, blah, blah"... My production date was actually 3/3... it's been sitting on the port/dock/whateveryoucallit since 3/4 (according to ASK MINI) and apparently, the next boat bound for So. Cal is leaving on 3/19... Too long to wait, IMO, but I do know many, many people have waited MUCH longer, I am just an impatient girl :)

well, that would be cool, seems to me, by all accounts, my boat will most likely be leaving the SOuthhampton port on 3/19, it is bound for so. cal :) I am hoping to be motoring by late April...

I'm not sure what my week was - would it be week 10 if it began production on March 7th? Or is your production week the week it finishes? Mine started on the 7th and is scheduled to finish tomorrow, the 15th. I've been calling daily (2 to 3 times per day the last couple of days); it's been in the paint shop since Friday. I guess that stage takes a while, especially if you have a contrasting roof.

When ordering, I asked what the last possible day was to get my order in to get a car in April (I was having a little trouble deciding what I wanted), and I turned my order in one day before that...figured I shouldn't push it. :)

The last week of March counts out to be week 13 to me too! Well, I hope you get yours by your birthday...that would be a very nice present! I don't know all of the time schedules, but I was kind of hoping to get mine by your birthday too! ;) I figure with what I've been hearing about boat loading though, that I should go ahead and plan for the following week...just so I won't be disappointed. It's really hard to wait though, wouldn't you say?

Good luck! Keep us posted!

Yeah, I know what you mean. My husband and I have the same MA. He already has his car. He had to e-mail our MA the other day to ask a few questions. One of his questions was if I was driving him (the MA) as crazy as I was driving him with all of the excitement about my MINI being built. I think he thinks that he was the lucky one just picking his off of the showroom, but I think this part has been a lot of fun. I've really liked tracking my car. I might not feel that way if it get's delayed though! :)

Got the first update in a while on my car's status... it's still waiting in Southampton, but now the M/V Takasago has begun its voyage! It's left Germany (the Germany line turned red on the Wallenius Wilhelmson site) and is on its way to Belgium... three more days until it picks up my baby in England, barring any last minute rerouting of my car!

Anyone else on the Takasago?

Called into ASKMINI today and accidently gave the wrong production number...said my car was on it's way to the shipping facility. I got so excited... but I double checked..and it's still on order :o oops..I'm glad I didn't call all my friends.

Hey Ben, I can't believe your MINI isn't on a boat already! As of this morning, mine changed to Awaiting Transport, so I guess it's headed to the shipyard. Maybe it's possible that they will both be delivered to Flow on the same truck...unless mine gets to wait at the port for a few weeks. :)

Oh, can someone tell me how to find out what boat you're on? Is there a thread about all of that? Of course, maybe I'm getting ahead of myself.

Have a great day! Debbie

how do you know where in the assembly line it is such as the paint shop and all that. I called miniusa and used the automated service and all they ever give me is the estimated completion date tell me that its scheduled for production...

I think you have to get that from a live REP on ASKMINI

Ken,

I'm in Atlanta too.

Looks like we may get our cabrios at the same time. I also ordered from Global and mine is being built this week :D I'm looking at delivery around Mid-April (hopefully).

We should get in contact with each other when our Minis arrive :D

With mine, it seemed like the automated part of the system was a day or two behind what you find out if you actually talk to a real person. On Friday night, the automated system just said mine was in production with a date of completion, but a live person told me it was in the paint shop. On Saturday, the automated system seemed to catch up with what the CS guy told me. And all of that is so much faster than the web site...which you probably already knew.

Debbie, here's a link to the FAQ (http://www.mini2.com/forum/faq.php?faq=faq_delivery#faq_faq_tracking_usa)

I feel guilty about talking to a CS. I guess I don't want them to know how anxious I am about getting it. I just imagine they get phonecalls all day of people saying "When!??! When??!!" but I haven't heard any stories about CSs being annoyed or impatient.

Here's a question..how often do people check ASKMINI?

I too have a week 12 build date for my Cooper S, which by my calendar is next week.

I read in another thread about some changes coming on line the first of April - the poster said it would make everyone want to wait - but he couldn't say what the changes were. Anyone have any idea??? I can't for the life of me think of something that would make me want to wait.

I mean if it's bigger cup holders or more padding on the door - that's not worth waiting for. Even the 05 changes weren't that drastic, but I am glad I waited to that.

Question #2 - I didn't order the LSD - do I really want it? Will I notice a difference? What's it really do in day to day driving?

Thanks - the wait is KILLING me.

Jeff

I've called only once since ordering, but I read somewhere on our forums here that one guy/girl was calling atleast twice a day.

Hey Ben, I can't believe your MINI isn't on a boat already!

I can't believe it either! It will be twelve days from the time it was built (3/5) until the time it is loaded on a ship. The Takasago leaves Southampton on the 17th, so yours may make it if you get lucky... mine went from Awaiting Transport to "Released to Carrier awaiting transport to Port of Exit" to "awaiting a shipping vessel", where I am right now.

The FAQ answers a lot of this, but the short easy answer is that you want to go to http://www.2wglobal.com/ and put your car's VIN number into their Auto Cargo tracking page. I showed up on that list a day after I was "released to carrier"...

Here's hoping my car has good company on its journey to north carolina by way of Charleston SC and the BMW plant in Spartanburg!

LOL, well, seems as though it is common... the waiting period, I mean. My MINI was done on 3/3, and still has not left the dock...

aww, thanks! I am really happy! I don't believe it is going out on a WW ship, though, since I have been diligently checking the site with my VIN and it has no info available. I was told my the woman at ASK MINI to contact my MA to find out when the estimated delivery date is. I'm west coast, so it will take a little while to get here, but, boy, I am anxious... and I'm sure I'll stay that way till I get my hands on Valentine (I finally named my baby)...
