shhhhhhhhh don't say that too loud! I was planning on driving my current van home tonight to pick up the MINI for the weekend... jump in and it won't start. I'm sure it's just a dead battery, but it's only been three days since I last drove it! It knows something's up, it just can't figure it out yet :)

Little does it know its battery has a two year Wal-Mart warranty, which I plan to exercise for like the fourth time this evening... if it's raining, which it looks like it might be, I do believe I'll just get a lift from a friend back to Roanoke and pick up the MINI that way :) Maybe I can even jumpstart the van with the awesome battery connection points under the bonnet of the MINI - that'd be quite a picture for the forums :D

You know, Ben's right. I went out to start my Infiniti yesterday to drive it around a little before washing it up to put the For Sale sign in it. This car never gives trouble - it's always reliabale, but it was not too happy when I started it. It tried not to start, and then acted like it didn't want to run. I guess it was none to happy that I hadn't driven it since bringing the MINI home on Saturday. It was okay after that, but I think that's because it didn't know it was getting cleaned up for the For Sale sign today! Poor little car - it probably feels so rejected now. Wish I could keep it too.

Thanks for the post about the pics. I will just have to upload some pictures and have a few red X's until the thumbnails get fixed!

265 miles on my MINI - going to drive it to the beach on Sunday so that I can double its miles. End of the break-in period - here I come! :p

Have a great weekend everyone!

This is always interesting. Dpacker, AprilWhine, and Bandrews, I know what you've/'re going through. I just sold my beloved white '97 328is. It has been a terrific car for 7 1/2 years, and I got a little choked up when I saw it drive away for the last time. Ah, well . . .

Wow, you guys have pictures of your old cars. The MINI replaced a 1989 Eagle Premier that I bought new in '89. I can't remember the last time a picture was taken. Anyway, sold it for $100 to a 16 year-old who just got his license. Thought I would be choked-up when it drove away, however I was kind of glad to see it going to another home and not a junk yard.

My former car - Toyota Matrix reminded me of my ex-wife  I'm glad it's gone :D

The wait from hell is just about over - I'm the last of the Andes Highway ( I think) to get my Mini. It's been at the dealer for one week :(

The wait is worth it though :)

April Whine - that's the girliest looking bug I've ever seen :p Your Mini is much cuter

WOW, an Eagle? An American Auto Company Eagle (just before they were bought by Chrysler)??? Heck, I think that a picture of that would be worth more than what you sold the car for!  :D

Do you think there's a market for Eagle pictures on ebay???

Actually, the 1989 Premiers were made after Jeep/AMC was bought by Chrysler. They even made a Dodge version once. Nice car, but very hard to find parts -- got tired of rummaging the junk yards.

Anyway, until I bought a MINI I wasn't much for taking pictures of cars. Now, I have more pictures of my MINI than I do my children (don't tell my wife) ;)

Hello everyone!

I thought I'd give an update... As some may remember, I picked up my MINI on the 11th and on the morning of the 12th ran over a huge chunk of semi truck tire tread in the fast lane on the freeway... well, still haven't gotten him back :( State Farm is totally jerking me around, the "estimator" made fraudulent notes in SF's computer system regarding my claim and why he had to go back out and do a second estimate... I mean, he out-and-out LIED... I have no clue why, unless they get paid by the miles they travel or the amount of appt.'s they see each day or something... So, it's been nearly two weeks, might be another week before I see my MINI again... At this rate, I'll be paying my first payment before I even put 50 miles on him...

I have been really mad/depressed/frustrated (obviously) and I keep asking myself why all this cr@p had to happen to my BRAND NEW BABY... Yes, I know, it could have been worse... and I am grateful that it wasn't, but it still gets me boiling every time I think about how long I waited and how patient I was while waiting for Him to get here from Oxford... just to be stripped away from me again and basically held hostage by State Farm's idiocy and laziness!!! :bad: :bad: :bad: :bad: I haven't been coming to the forums much because it keeps reminding me of how badly I miss my MINI... and it doesn't help that my Boyfriends new MINI is sitting in the driveway next to my old Daewoo (which I am stuck driving till my MINI, Val, comes back home to me...)

ryanelp80 - Don't fret - you'll get Val back soon

Look at it this way - While you are driving a "regular" car - it's what everyone else pretty much has. But you are the proud owner of a Mini - and you'll soon be back on the road :D

That's my pep talk for the day.

Here's the car that my new Mini is replacing. I don't feel too bad about letting it go, although it's a great car. It's an '03 Monte Carlo SS. If I don't sell it by the 30th, then it gets traded in.

Don't be too upset. I've been there. Insurance adjusters are at the bottom of the food chain and are put under extreme pressure by the insurance companies to low-ball estimates. It will work out and you will be on the road again. Have faith.

well, day one was a dream!!! did a long road trip to a local race track and put a few miles on my new boy. Can't wait for the break in period to end...

What are your MA's saying about break-in?? I'm trying to stay at a reasonable RPM, like 4500, and not going over 90 MPH (very hard to do by the way... )

Did some shopping today on Minimania.com and mossmini.com (i can tell this is going to be an expensive 'aftermarket' car... there are so many cool things available to buy...) got a new large cupholder, I hate the big 'in-the-way' thing they mount to the console down-tube. this one was cheap and tucks under the floor mat... ordered athe glove box organizer, an absolute must... the glovebox is pretty small, this thing will help add some space. I also broke down and ordered the euro parcel shelf.. pamlico said it was one of the most useful accessories, and the car definitely needs some more spaces to put all my stuff!!!

Anyway, the car is awesome. handles like a dream, is a dream, i feel like i'm dreaming... Even after reading the owners manual 172 times, i am still finding 'cool' little engineering tricks and features... Going to be a great car and great friend!!!

for those still waiting, it is definitely worth it. for those not waiting, you know exactly what i mean... :p

My brothers and sisters, let's motor...

oh hembrey, it's posts like your that make the wait sooo bitter sweet! I mean here I am still waiting for my MINI and your posting about all the after market accessories you've bought for your sweet ride and getting drive it everyday! I'm very jealous.

the wait is getting unbareable! At least my MINI has finally hit terra-firma and is in Sydney Australia. Just have to wait on dealer prep and accessory fit and for the Aero Kit to be fitted and painted. Not long to go now.

Hey Magictux

Thanks for the pics of the Toledo and Tampa. I'm sure I could see DEMINI waving his antenna at us from the docks in Sydney. The Toledo (with DEMINI on board) was orginally scheduled to dock at Melbourne, but we were bypassed and she went straight on to Sydney, which would account for her quicker than normal voyage. He was then loaded onto the Tampa and we have to wait even longer for him to arrive in Melbourne. The Tampa is due to arrive sometime on Sunday afternoon. Unfortunately the holiday on Monday will slow our delivery time down I'm afraid. We went to the dealer today and they have completely different information and think that the car was delivered in Melbourne on Thursday!!! For our sake I hope they are right and we will pick DEMINI up on Saturday, fingers crossed!!

At least you know where your car is!!!

I think I will be the last from the Andes Highway to get their car. We are picking her up on Tuesday. It has been at the dealer since last Tuesday but between ours and the dealer schedules we just couldn't swing it this week. Just as well, the San Diego weather left Pittsburgh this week and it's supposed to snow tomorrow. We just got the e-mail for the presets today from the dealer.
