Woo hoo - got my production number!

Went with East Bay Mini, very painless! Those geniuses in Oxford and Bavaria are really onto something here, making the whole planning and buying process so much fun. Somehow, buying a Ford isn't quite the same thing! :) Unfortunately, now the waiting begins...

My MA and ASK-MINI both have said "10th week of the year" for my car, and my calendar says that's March. Here's the specs:

MC
Hyper Blue/White w/ Stripes
Sport Pack
Anthracite trim + headliner
Chrome Line Interior
MFSW
Trip Computer

I cannot wait to stop ogiling other peoples' MINIs and start driving my own! :)

Guess my car will be about a week behind yours-- according to this morning's call to ASK-MINI, I'm tentatively scheduled for the 11th week of production, which he said begins on March 14. He did say that the production date is not firm yet, and could be moved up. (Didn't say anything about it being pushed back, hope that isn't a possibility....).

MCC
Hot Orange Metallic w/Blue Top
Sport Seats in Dark Blue leather
Premium package
Convenience package
Heated seats

Actually, I've now decided I don't want my build date to move up-- according to the latest info, I get a free armrest if my MCC is built after Week 9!!

I ordered mine from MINI of Murray in SLC. Here are my specs: :black:

MCS Jet Black/White roof (no bonnet stripes)

Cold Weather, Premium, and Convenience packages
Panther Black leather
Anthracite interior surfaces and headliner
Chrome line interior

This wait is killin' me! :D

Mine's scheduled to be done two days after your MINIs - scheduled for completion on March 7th. Here are my specs:

US-spec MCS
Chili Red/White Roof/White Bonnet Stripes
Anthracite Interior/Space Gray Sport Seats
Sport Pack (17" S-Lite All Seasons)
Cold Weather Pack
LSD
Front and Rear Fogs
Multifunction Steering Wheel

Ordered from Flow MINI in NC, USA - had a great experience and a minimal wait (ordered beginning of February). I'm glad the car's in production now, since I need it by summer to drive cross-country to from Virginia to Seattle for an internship. At least I'll hit my breakin mileage fairly quickly :)

Now comes the excrutiating refreshes of the owner's lounge and repeated calls to +1 866 ASK MINI until i hear it's been loaded on a ship in Southampton... and the time in a manual so i'm used to driving one by the time the MCS arrives!

The folks at 866-ASK-MINI just told me that my production has been moved up a week-- was Week 11, now it's Week 10. While I had him on the phone, I mentioned that I'd read that MCC convertibles w//Premium package were to begin including the armrest as part of the package-- and he verified that mine does show the armrest as an included option.

congrats all on the new Minis. My completion date is tomorrow (March 1st), which I think belongs to the Feb. production or atleast that's where I've included myself. ;)

Here's to all of us receiving our cars as quick as possible.

Keep us updated as you get more information

Mine suddenly went into "Scheduled for Production", with a VIN and everything.

Called ASK-MINI, and they said it actually began production on February 25! Not bad, ordered at the dealer on 1/26, car is built a month later! Now hopefully the transatlantic cruise/VDC/transporter part of this whole process will go smoothly as well...

After what seems an eternity I got my VIN number from the dealer on March 1st. I've done a search on the shipping company's website and it's booked to leave Southampton on March 11th. If it makes it onto this ship (and I can't see why it wouldn't) it is due to arrive in Sydney on April 20. A three hour truck drive to Canberra will hopefully occur in the following few days or so to make it possibly a late April but at least early May delivery!

Anyhow this is what I'm getting...

CR/W MCS
Electric sunroof
Chilli red (body colour) dash and door trim
Anthracite roof liner
Oz spec Chilli pack

My birthday is April 26th...ahh wouldn't that be nice :D :D

Well, my car's now in the paint shop... still estimating completion on March 7. :)

I don't know what's worse, waiting for it to be built or waiting for it to arrive. Reading old production group threads brought up the story of the Tricolor (the WW vessel that collided on its way to Southampton) and I sure hope my car has a safe trip across the pond!

Update!

My Liquid Yellow S convertible ("Murray") now has a production number, and an estimated completion date of March 16! This is so much faster than I had anticipated, based on the 10-12 month wait I was quoted at another dealer.

All kudos and appreciation to Jamie DeFrance at South Bay MINI in Torrance, CA! I ordered this car on Feb 21, and it looks to be built within a month of ordering!

Yeah!

First post - Hello to the March 2005 Group :)

05 MC HB/W w/ all the chrome, premium pkg, R81's in silver, and (believe it or not) the cassette radio option.

Build date: 03/08/05

Will reside in lower left of Southern Arizona - probably the only one ...

Name comes from Battlestar Galactica (ever notice the similarity between the toggle switches in the MINI and that of the first series Viper?). The Mark 2 designation was a fun coincidence between the series & Mini History.

Waited for the updated passenger air bag OC system as we have three children.

I'd be curious to hear AZ owner's experience in terms of shipping and the time frame for delivery. I'm familiar w/ the AZ board but in the left corner of AZ there aren't many MINI's - appears they are all in PHX or Tucson.

Glad to see such a vibrant owner's group :)

How do you know that the car is in the paint shop? Is that just a service for you Merricans? :(

1-866-ASK-MINI here in the states. I'm surprised there's no equivalent for you down under. :(

My MCS completed yesterday and is awaiting transport to the port.

I faxed my order in on Thursday March 3 and have a week 12 production. This is my second time ordering a MINI but it's just as much fun as the first time.

LY/B MCSC-A
Sports, Cold, and Convenience packages
Arm rest
Navigation
Space Cloth seats
Rear Fogs

And probably some other stuff that slips my mind right now.

Mine just completed too - it's now "completed and awaiting transport from the factory". Yay!

Our order tracking for the states is +1 866 ASK MINI - a toll free number with an automated voice recognition system on the other end. Just say "Vehicle Production Status", then give them the last seven digits of your VIN number, then confirm and it gives you a pretty detailed status update. (Much better than the Owner's Lounge data online, which I don't understand at all - shouldn't they be using the same data source... oh well)

Anyone know which boat is next out of Southampton?

Mine's booked on the Tampa.....Leaves on 11th March

If I gave one of you US cousins my last seven digits do you think you could try the ASK MINI? Come to think of it though, it's probably only for those ordered for the US

Stupid question probably, but how do you know that your MINI is in the Paint Shop? When I track online, it just shows me that mine is Scheduled for Production.

I'm so exicted though! My MINI Motoring Advisor says that my MINI will complete production on March 15th, and that it will arrive somewhere between the 1st and 2nd week in April. I was starting to think that it was going to be On Order forever - I was so excited when it changed!

Now about that Paint Shop thing...did I miss something?

Thanks!

Debbie :-)

You have to call MINIUSA and they will give you the detailed version. MINIUSA.com owneer's lounge just has an overall view and it isn't updated very often.

Debbie- The web site is waaaaaaaay behind the telephone information. If you want to know what's really going on, call 1-866-ASK-MINI and say "Vehicle Production Status". Don't worry, it's an automated system, so you won't be troubling any real humans :) That is, if you're in America - I tried Magictux's VIN number from the land down under and it didn't have any information available, so it only knows about cars bound for MINI USA. :(

The FAQ (http://www.mini2.com/forum/faq.php?faq=faq_delivery#faq_faq_tracking_usa) has a good list of status codes - I think the phone system reflects each of these status codes with a unique message, as opposed to the web site that groups everything together into a few big classifications.

Mine's still awaiting release to carrier, according to the phone system. I just don't know enough yet to predict a vessel - the Wallenithingy Willhethingy (no way i can spell that properly, I'm not even going to try) web site doesn't have information about my car yet, and since I ordered from a dealer in NC, it could conceivably come through either NJ or Charleston SC... and on either a WW or K-Line ship, depending on when it gets booked through.

Anyone ever enter their VIN and get a message on the WW site that "No tracking information is available for the Cargo ID you entered"? It seems my MCS was scheduled to be loaded on the Takasago, then the Resolve, then...NOTHING! My VIN is no longer recognized

I hope we don't have happen to us what happened to all of the poor February build folks who had to wait a month or more to be loaded on a ship! My car changed to "has been released to a carrier and is now awaiting transport to the port of exit" today on ASK-MINI, so at least it will be there waiting patiently as soon as a ship is available. :(

Mine has also been "released to carrier" as of this morning. Yesterday evening it was still at "In the paint shop" and the OL (web) is still on "scheduled for production."

I'll be curious to see what ship yours gets loaded onto and if mine also makes it :)
