: Gran Turismo 4 (PS2) - MINI 1/4 Mile & Tuner Challenge CooperSAZ Mar 11th, 2005, 02:12 PM That guy is insane!
Id love to have been in the passenger seat :D
whooooosh
Yes, that video is a keeper! Debating about putting it on DVD and playing through the surround sound system! Wife might get upset though! :D CooperSAZ Mar 11th, 2005, 02:20 PM Nurburgring is crazy! It is challenging to find the right balance of downforce/handling in the corners but have the guts to go on the straights as well!
408hp out of a earlier Evo is not bad.
Yes, cheap cars suck! I finally reached about 30% in the game. Just won the M3 GTR, and M3 GTR Race Car! Holy moly! So nice! So fast! Now, time permitting, I am going to take the M3 GTR Race Car onto Nurburgring... The M3 GTR (non race car) is pretty quick in stock form, 12.90s-13.10s in the 400m. But this race car takes the cake!
I am currently upset with the GT World Championship Series in the Professional Races. I keep getting smacked around! I have the MB CLK GTR Race Car (thingy) and the best that I can do is 3rd! :( Races are typically 10 laps which now brings in tire choices... Do you do the mediums, hard compound or super hard? You get great traction with the medium but have to pit, the hard compound is so-so in that you have to becareful not to slide around too much (otherwise you have to pit) or the super hard compound where you do not pit but traction leaves a little to be desired! Decisions, decisions... CooperSAZ Mar 11th, 2005, 02:25 PM Got it yesterday first impressions good :
MPH not Kmh for a start seems to play quicker to many button clicks to start a race in GT3 and lots of cars in arcade mode for someone impatient like me who cant be arsed playing through the whole game and actually progressing.
Mainly played Nurburgring in arcade mode with Mini, E55amg and M3 :)
I am surprised that there appears to be a difference in MPH vs. KPH! Interesting!
My buddy went and bought the game as well, he is growing frustrated with the licensing issues! But he has never played the game before (as someone who has played GT, GT2 and GT3). I keep telling him to wait, it is teaching him to drive (within the game) along with learning the tracks!
Did you upload your data from GT3? (appears you have it?) I transferred $100k plus two licenses from GT3... If so, try loading up your GT3 game in GT4! Loosemoose Mar 11th, 2005, 02:33 PM The prize cars mean a lot more in GT4 compared to GT3 & the preceeding entries in the series. The prizes for the sunday cup, FF Champ & the MINI Event are all un-buyable, all of them are specials that you won't be able to get hold of in any other way. Surely this would make them worth tens of thousands? not 8,000 creds... Thats only 1/2 of a stage 2 turbo :(. I'm going to be racing the first MINI Event race all tonight to get the cash required to get a decent car  .
Loosemoose icheatatscrabble Mar 11th, 2005, 02:44 PM I've got an '82 Celica 2800 XX (i think?) with 208bhp, a freebie '79 Autobianchi Abarth something or other (looks like it is based on a Fiat 127 and I got a crap freebie Pontiac Sunfire - I bloody hated those cars when I lived in Toronto. Oh and I have 911 credits. Doing well?? I don't think :( Shaun Mar 11th, 2005, 02:48 PM I am surprised that there appears to be a difference in MPH vs. KPH! Interesting!

Yeah how do you load data I didnt pay any attention to the demo sceens
Its not the license issue I have nearly done the first one thats ok.
Its that I hit a brick wall and cant progress. In GT3 I was doing ok with the beginers races but then it alll started going **** up when the tyres start to fade and it just gets overcomplicated. I have no patience as I say. :)

I think, if memory serves, go to the garage! There should be an option to load up a game. Hopefully it selects the GT3 game. When I first fired up the game, it was very specific and that I only had "one chance" to do it. So, with that said, if the load game option does not find the GT3 data, you might be out of luck! Other options (if you want to get cheeky) is to load up the GT3 data within GT3, and possibly save the game to another card? Then fire up GT4 and attempt to load the GT3 data again. Providing that GT4 has not already erased your data by saving the new game!
If it does not work out, keep this in mind for future games, they always allow you to carry some things forward into the next version. It was nice though to only have to pass the two International licenses to get all 4. I may pass on the Super License, that is crazy! CooperSAZ Mar 11th, 2005, 03:08 PM I've got an '82 Celica 2800 XX (i think?) with 208bhp, a freebie '79 Autobianchi Abarth something or other (looks like it is based on a Fiat 127 and I got a crap freebie Pontiac Sunfire - I bloody hated those cars when I lived in Toronto. Ouch! I have the Abarth as well, not sure what to do with it! Sunfire? That is a dog with fleas! Loosemoose Mar 11th, 2005, 03:14 PM I've got that arbarth, and a Mazda 6 Concept (which has no re-sale value, the valuation is -- credits), and a Mini Marcos... Had to sell the arbarth to pay for the fully custom gearbox on my ONE. Just need nos next.
BTW, to load GTP & GT3 data, go to home, then game status (where it gives you your percentage) then press start... I haven't tried re-saving GT3 to another mem card & reloading, but i assume it knows that you've already loaded data into your GT4 game and won't let you do it again. Maybe if I have to start over...
Loosemoose CooperSAZ Mar 11th, 2005, 03:18 PM Loosemoose has it! I knew there was some sequence to it!
That Mazda 6 Concept is not bad, AWD and turbocharged! I love the way it lurches off the line at the track. Very similar to an AWD car in real life! jamiep Mar 11th, 2005, 03:29 PM I am also racing a Mitsi HSR thing that has a weird air brake effort that comes into play while cornering and brakeing currently tuned up to over 400 Bhp to take on the Japanese monsters. Only 4 gears though! need to save up for a decent gearbox CooperSAZ Mar 12th, 2005, 05:11 AM 12.693 in the 400m tonight! And that was just messing around! I do believe there is room for it to continue south!
But it is time to go to bed now! :( Todd! Mar 12th, 2005, 01:51 PM Geez... sounds like I gota get this game... I clocked GT, GT2, GT3 but I thought GT4 would consume too much time, so I have held off from buying it, but Im being very tempted by the 1/4 challenge you are setting CooperSAZ:D
Keep up the good work!
Todd Romhog Mar 12th, 2005, 02:17 PM I am really let down that they didnt have the classic mini's or anything related to that model, other than the Marco's
Even some of the compact pics show the classic in the race.
:(
Also they dont even show a SC upgrade for the Mini S. That should have been an option as well Shaun Mar 12th, 2005, 04:46 PM 12.693 in the 400m tonight! And that was just messing around! I do believe there is room for it to continue south!

In case you missed it there's the MINI Nurburgring challenge on this thread (http://www.mini2.com/forum/showthread.php?t=86469)
Looking for an easy way to make money. You should have kept the Abarth.
Take it to the Lightweight Cup and win. # races is $6K and you get a 10K prize car. $16k in about 15 minutes.
Rerun the races and clear your times when asked. Win the $16K again and again.
That'll get you a good start.
Winning the no resale value concept cars kinda blows. The Mazda Concept is one and that weird Toyota Concept you win in AWD in another. :( obehave Mar 12th, 2005, 06:08 PM 13.472 No nitrous.
You need to update Post #1 with all the posted times. Maybe nitrous and non nitrous times. CooperSAZ Mar 12th, 2005, 06:53 PM 13.472 No nitrous.

Okay Obe,
You got your wish, Post #1 has been changed to reflect the 'Challenge!' Good luck to all! I suck at Nurburgring, this should get good! Yeah not sold that abrath new it would be just right for the little K class. Figured that out after selling usefull cars in GT3 . But that toyota concept is just pants you think 4 wheel drive lightweight and all that power and its just cak.
What do you mean clear your times?
Got the gt3 loot loaded btw wasnt much in the pot having built a 200Bhp mini classic last time I played it :D Loosemoose Mar 13th, 2005, 03:12 PM In case you missed it there's the MINI Nurburgring challenge on this thread (http://www.mini2.com/forum/showthread.php?t=86469)

To make all the money you'll ever need, all you need to do is take your modded cooper S to the easy Amalfi Coast Course (Capri Rally). 2 Races, 5,000crs each, and a 250,000cr prize car... Needs an A licence, but u can run it on your racing tyres, cos its a tarmac course. Look for it in the special conditions hall, I've already won 4 and got a fully modded Ford GT :D.

Can you win the car multiple times? Which area is that race under?
Thanks
Shaun;
When you start the series agin you get a pop up telling you that you an restart but all of your current records will be erased. If you OK that you can rerun the 3 races and if you win all 3 you get the 10K prize car.
Works well if you're penniless. If you carries over 100K then it's all different. But it's cheap. Winning the Abarth costs little to win and just a few HP or some tires makes it pretty easy to win the Lightweight series.
I now hve to go investigate loosemooses method. Shaun Mar 13th, 2005, 08:46 PM Can you win the car multiple times? Which area is that race under?

Sure that Ginneta will come in somewhere
Some standrd 400mm times for information purposes.
17.041 without TCS
16.290 with 5 clicks of TCS 16.206 with an engine chip :)
17.091 with 10 clicks of TCS
Oh and 9.27.597 round the ring with full TCS only. CooperSAZ Mar 13th, 2005, 11:51 PM This is where that 3 Setup per car save feature will come in handy!
One for the 400m, and one for a twisty track!
It is very hard to look bad in that M3 GTR Race Car! There is so much downforce in stock trim that even if you overshoot the initial braking point, you can still make the corner (in most instances!) Loosemoose Mar 14th, 2005, 08:10 AM Can you win the car multiple times? Which area is that race under?

You can win the car multiple times (bit of an oversight that, if it was my game to design I would have had it give you something else...). The car is a Toyota Rally RAID '03, not a looker but is worth a mint. The race is the second one from the top in the special conditions hall, blue logo, the Capri Rally. Make sure its the easy mode one, the prize for normal isn't worth as much.
I was expecting all of the races to need dirt/snow tyres but both Coasta di Amalfi and Citta di Aria are in here, tarmac courses which allow any car to take part (including my new Ford GT, racing soft tyres, fully modded, 1 lap of Coasta di Amalfi in <2mins) there's also two amazing courses, one in Paris & full of sharp corners, good for an S, and a wet Tunguska (sp?) that just looks great with the reflections.
Loosemoose Lawrothegreat Mar 14th, 2005, 10:09 PM Since I only drive a cooper in real life and not a 's' - i decided to spec up a cooper in the game. Here are my specs:
249bhp, 0-400m in 13.6s, 0-1000m in 23.5s, and with different gearing and a bit of nitrous a top speed of 187.6mph. Nurburgring in 8:29 although i know i can take a good 10s off this. Pretty much have every upgrade but haven't experimented with tyres yet / gear ratios / suspension settings. CooperSAZ Mar 14th, 2005, 10:41 PM Not bad! Is the 13.6 with nitrous? Or just engine? If not, nitrous could get the MC very close!
No turbo option for the MC? I have yet to check... Mini G Man Mar 15th, 2005, 12:41 AM What type of LSD does the real Cooper S have? In GT4 there are numerous types you can buy. 1-LSD, 2-LSD, variable LSD, etc. Which one is it?
Also, does anyone have any upgrade & tuning tips to get the '02 copper S up to the '05's 170BHP by adding realistic tweaks? I don't want a stupidly excessive drive, i want something that reflects the car's TRUE nature.
I was thinking the upgrades i'd need were:
Stage one Sports Suspension
LSD of some kind, but which ???
I was going to buy another Cooper S and tune it to the Works capabality of 210 BHP. That's also include the above upgrades, plus the "sports exhaust" and maybe an "engine chip".
Any other ideas? Bananafishbones Mar 15th, 2005, 08:34 AM CooperSAZ here are my latest times for the Nurburgring, all using stock unmodified cars:

Production Car: BMW M5 (501bhp): 7m35.783s
Race Car: Nissan MOTUL PITWORK Z (477bhp): 6m46.495s

Holy smokes! Did you ever hit the brakes? That is very cool, you supplied pics! There are times flying around this board that are a bit tough to swallow without seeing a screen shot!
Although, I am sad now, I was proud of my time and I just got smoked! Time to go back to tuning! Great times! | |
