Has anyone tried to get a TLC package in Australia? Its available in New Zealand and just about everywhere else in the world.

The price in New Zealand is $NZ500 for five years worth of BMW servicing. The New Zealanders also get 3 years of warranty standard.

I wonder if BMW Australia would come to the party and offer a TLC package if I ask nicely.

Regards,
Paul

When I bought my Cooper, the dealer offered me Triple Three. Which is extending the warranty to a total of three years and scheduled servicing up to 60,000 kms.

I paid $1300 from memory.

Not sure that Triple Three is still available.

Given that I paid almost $500 for my first service alone I cannot see them coming to that particular party :(

Cetainly cannot hurt for a few people to ask though. It is possible that they might hear some squeaky wheels and grease them. :)

yeah, Triple Three was all we were ever offered (2 year factory warranty is kinda lame, but $1300 for 60k servicing and a third warranty year is good value IMO, depending on how much you drive).

After the first 12 months the warranty is all backed by the local distributor, not the factory, so it comes down to BMW Aus being tightwads :D

I've recently been looking around to getting my first service as it's time. I remember some of you mentioning that you purchased the extended warranty and had first servicing included for free.

I was checking out the MINI Australia website and they have a Warranty Plus offer, giving you an extra year for $660! I asked a sales rep if this included free first servicing, they were unsure but believed that it didn't.

Does anyone know for sure if first service is included or not?

there's 2 different options...

'Triple 3' included an extra year's warranty & free servicing for 3 scheduled services, or 60,000km... this was just over $1k for most punters

the extended warranty alone is what you're referring to... no included servicing

i gather 'Triple 3' is nno longer available, but i may be wrong

:D : just picked up cabriolette six weeks ago and got like everyone else only two year unlimited warranty. As this is second new mini cooper S and warranty on first mini is getting close to the two year expiry i enquired re additional warranty. You are able to buy one additional year for a cost of $650.

But lo and behold the service manager asked me did i purchase the additional warranty that BMW now offers well that was the first i had heard of it, so of course i said no i was never told about it. Apparently now for a sum of $1300 you can purchase an additional three years which then makes it five year unlimited kms and this includes all yours services for five years. Not bad basically get one year free compared to $650 a year for the older new minis and yes its called the TRIPLE THREE. The manager then told me that he could not sell it to me as it was only on point of sale. Well i was not happy and kicked up quite a fuss and the manager wrote to mini australia to request this.

And guess what i got it so go out there and fight for what is yours as they wont tell u as it is not in favour but five years with no worries well let me tell u it was definately worth the fight and i am loving every minute of cruising in my new baby but only one problem couldnt part with electric blue cooper s aka; supermini, so now officially a two mini family.

Cheers

given the well-documented build issues on some MINIs, i certainly can't see them retrospectively offering this on '02 & '03 models! :( :(

Just read also in december/january that bmw are offerring 8 year warrantys on the minis in the uk for a price of 450 pounds. i know we never get as good a deal but 5 years is good enough for me. I have found you nearly have to be consistent but nice with them.

Anybody else out their getting their car washed for free weekly by your dealer for the first year. Now have second mini, cool blue convertible and getting the same deal with this car.

Definately cant complain about the service department or parts they r fantastic but it was another story when it came to delivery and registration of the new convertible, well dont get me started.

I wouldnt let the dealer anywhere near washing my car  The fad these days is for them to take a microfibre cloth to it which will take everything off including polish and paint protection.

I wonder what they would still have covered after 8 years?
Would definitely cost them a fortune, even if they were just fixing mine alone! ;)

Rang my dealer yesterday and asked him about the "New Triple Three". He knew nothing about it and said he will check it out. He rang back later and explained the old triple three offer.

Which dealer offered you this new triple three?

Hi,

Is the extra 3 years definitely a BMW warranty? I'm just asking, because some dealers sell extended warranties after the manufacturers has expired, but these are through 3rd party companies. However, in these cases there are often loopholes etc, and it is not as good as a manufacturers warranty. Also, they don't usually include servicing.

If it is a genuine BMW warranty with servicing, then it sounds like a great deal :D :D :D

Indeed - if it's three years of extra BMW warranty and FIVE years of servicing, then it doesn't just sound like good value to me, it sounds like theft! :D

... and I thought the old triple three (1 year extra warranty and 60000km servicing) was good value for $1300

This is genuine BMW warranty i know seems too good to be true unfortunately will have to wait and find out if it is as good as to be believed. If anybody buying a new mini has any problems send me pm and i will give u my dealers name so u can suss it out yourself. I have a feeling that not all dealerships read all their faxes from head office.

Happy miniing

I feel a little clarity may be required, here is what the programmes actually offer:

MINI Warranty Plus & Triple Three programmes

To ensure a consistent approach across the group the following MINI customer
assurance programmes were introduced in Feb 2002.

MINI WARRANTY PLUS
Extends the MINI new vehicle warranty cover from two to three years. MINI Warranty
Plus provides an additional twelve months of warranty coverage without kilometre limit.
All entitlements included in this Warranty Plus package will transfer to a new owner if the
unit is sold within this three-year period.
MINI customers can purchase this Warranty Plus extension at the point of sale. Alternatively owners must ensure that their Warranty Plus policy is acquired within fifteen days (15) of their current MINI warranty expiring.
The cost to the customer is $660.

MINI TRIPLE THREE
Provides an additional twelve months of MINI warranty cover, an additional twelve
months of MINI roadside assistance and three years or 60,000 kilometres of MINI free
scheduled servicing.
The MINI Triple Three package can only be purchased at the point of sale and
entitlements transfer to the new owner if the unit is sold during this three-year period.
The cost to the customer is $1300.

These programmes were introduced to reassure MINI owners that their vehicle will receive the ultimate in Aftersales customer care.

These are the only programmes/warranty extensions available from your authorised MINI dealer.

I hope this offers some clarity.

haha I knew it :D

3 years total, like it always was, not 3 years extra!

However, given the service intervals on a MINI, ending the free servicing at 60000km doesn't make a lot of sense...

I dont know. Tripple three is basically the Warranty Plus with free servicing. So you get an addition twelve months warranty which is valued at $660 plus free servicing. FOr 60,000k's you would get two and could probably squueze in three services. Even if you only use two services I dont think you could get them for less than $640 for the two. So while a bit marginal it looks like a saving to me

Until recently MINI Garage Sydney have been excellent with regard to warranty and servicing . . . . . . replaced a Xenon, two front tower bushes, a drivers door window mechanism and attempted to fix rattles under warranty. Whilst in all areas their customer service has been great three annoying rattles and a steering knock which began in November still remain.

Warranty ran out in January so I have been trying to get these persistant rattles fixed and the steering knock attended to. Despite the problems being mentioned in all services since taking delivery someone in management has decided that our fitting of after market suspension is the reason for the continuing problems. The problem with this explanation is that the suspension wasn't fitted until May '04 well after when the issues were first raised and continually pointed out in each service including oil services, a total of 6 in 46,000 k's.

The rattles; sunroof, dashboard and rear hatch are common, mentioned on MINI2 by numerous owners and are fixable. The steering knock is a known fault with some owners having their steering columns replaced up to three times before eradicating the problem. These issues like the faulty Xenons have been accepted as common faults in all MINI markets except Australia (they have replaced Xenons under warranty). It appears MINI Aus has their own interpretation of the causes and will avoid fixing under warranty hoping owners will give up, put up with the problems or have them fixed at the owners cost.

MINI Aus have agreed to have one of their guys have a look at the vehicle and then make a decision to fix or not to fix. As there are records of the complaint since 1st service I am unsure what an inspection is going to achieve. It is pretty clear they exist and haven't been fixed despite a number of attempts by MGS. An inspection is not going to change the situation.
