Does anyone know anyone who is familliar with Mini's who could do an aftermarket nav/audio job in San Antonio? I was going to ask the dealership, but one of the woman I was talking to there said that they dont recommend that because the wiring is apparently touchy in MINIs. Any advice?

well, i don't know about installers in your area, but i do know that (if you have the Harman Kardon stereo) it is definitely a bit more cumbersome. The HK system uses an outboard amplifier (in the right hand panel of your boot), so it's not as simple as just switching out head units and pressing play. Now, i don't know if i got suckered, but when i replaced my head unit the stereo place told me that the factory speakers wouldn't work with the new unit (and he said that if they did, the head unit (Alpine 9835) would overpower the heck out of them). So he talked me into buying Alpine 6x9's, Memphis 6.5" components, and a Memphis 4way amplifier. Pretty much a completly new system. So, before you are in the market, make sure you know what you are getting into. I went in to the radio store expecting to buy a wiring harness.....and a grand later :( i came out with a whole new system. I guess the salesmen were pretty good.
Hope this helps.
