I'm thinking about doing this mod, but having my Tach have Green from 0-4 Yellow from 4-6 and leave it red for 6+.
I like that idea. Hope it works out for you and if it does please post pictures.

If you look further up this thread you will find a link to a site and a guy who did it and can help.
(Note to self: it is always good to read through threads....) ;)

Hello to anyone still interested -

I'm the bloke who was insane enough to do this with the gauges supplied with the car. It's been a year and a half and they still work fine, though a few came loose and I had to re-solder them.

My how-to is posted on NAM (somewhere...) and on my club's site... http://www.minineo.org/viewtopic.php?t=214

If you have questions, e-mail me at president@minineo.org... though everything is laid out pretty clearly in the how-to.

Don't know bout you people over the pond but in the UK there is a company essential mini who do this, not as a kit purely a while you wait service, not sure of the price but they do a good service, i'm sure some members of this site have used them.

They have some pretty dandy pics under the custom lighting on their website- essentialmini.co.uk

Here's the thread on NAM, with pics and descriptions: MINI COOPER :: North American Motoring - Blue gauge backdrops (http://www.northamericanmotoring.com/forums/showthread.php?t=94118). The latest post shows a conversion for the Nav/Chrono style dual dials over the steering column. The results are amazing. I've done a number of electrical and electronics mods but this one is really beyond my soldering skills to attempt on my own.

Does swapping the speedo really effect your mileage and service interval readout?!?!?! Surely that data is in the ECU and is just displayed on the speedo?
