Barrichello has had to play second string to Schumacher

Ferrari's Rubens Barrichello has warned team-mate Michael Schumacher not to expect any favours in Sunday's European Grand Prix at the Nurburgring.

The Brazilian was angry after being overtaken by the world champion on the last lap in Monaco, a move he feared would knock both cars out of the race.

"I'm no longer in the situation of 2002 when I had to give him the win in Austria," said Barrichello.

"I'm racing in Germany with a clear objective: to win the Grand Prix."
Schumacher's controversial last-lap overtaking manoeuvre in Monaco also drew fierce criticism from his brother, Ralf.

But it is Barrichello's reaction which is the most significant.

The Brazilian has played second fiddle to Schumacher for several years and famously slowed down during the Austrian GP in 2002 to allow the German to pass and win.

"Michael and I have had two, three or four situations of this kind," said Barrichello.

"I have always had to think in two ways: to think of what I should do for him and what I should do for the team.

"In future I will consider him not as a team-mate but a driver like any other."

$50 says Rubens gets fired next year :p

Poor Rubeno....nicest man in F1 at the mo'.
Im putting a 5er down for Shuey quiting at the end of the season if thing keep going on the way they are. No Michael, no rubeno.....say goodbye to the glorydays ferrari fans
:p
Time to bring back Johnny Herbert (legend) and Mika Salo IMHO. Some of the most under-sppreciated drivers ever. Or they could sign me up for a season if they wish....... :p :p :p

Personally, there should be a standard control tyre, fuel tank size etc. However, should be allowed to build any engine up to a cerain litreage as well as construct any aerodynamics they can possibly muster. Bring back the 70's!

Will be interesting to see if Michael goes on if his form doesn't improve. I reckon he would, I think if he could win another title he'd consider it the sweetest of all ... I hope he retires! :D

Hi,

I saw the interview with Webber this afternoon on TV, where he was a little cryptic. They asked him about strategy, fuel load etc, and he wouldn't respond, but at the end of the conversation he dropped in and said "I'm very happy with my qualifying lap time" :D :D

Sounds like he was running a heavy fuel load in qualifying, and thinks he outperformed Heidfeld :D

They also asked him if he would launch from the start ok  He didn't look as smug then :(

In the interview he also said that they were still well down on the Mclaren performance, who are currently the benchmark.

Cheers

Robbo

Rubens... meh. I think IRvine was a far better driver than him... His 2nd place in the hcampionshipp the year Shu stacked into the wall at Silverstone showed that.

There is a number of great drivers who have never been allowed to shine against their team mates... DC is possibly the worst case of that in previous years.

I hope tonight is something like Senna & Prost in the McLaren days down into the esses at the Japanese GP all those years ago :D Followed by RB & MS having a royal rumble in the kitty litter :D

40 minutes overtime is just focking ridiculous. a couple of minutes I can take, but 40 minutes is a joke. Time to introduce fines for shows running overtime like they apparently have overseas.
