BAR’s Takuma Sato will drop ten places on the grid for the Brazilian Grand Prix in two weeks’ time as penalty for his clash with Michael Schumacher at Spa on Sunday.

Takuma Sato (JPN) BAR Honda 007 and Michael Schumacher (GER) Ferrari F2005 collide. Formula One World Championship, Rd16, Belgian Grand Prix, Race, Spa Francorchamps, Belgium, 11 September 2005Sato ran into the rear of Schumacher’s Ferrari going into the La Source hairpin just after the safety car had pulled back into the pits on lap 14. After consultating the two drivers, stewards deemed the Japanese star responsible for the accident, which put both men out of the race.

Meanwhile, Williams’ Antonio Pizzonia was fined for crashing into Juan Pablo Montoya’s McLaren in the closing stages of the race as the Brazilian attempted to unlap himself. Both men were forced to retire as a result of the incident.

Still doesnt give Juan back a deserved podium 2nd tho http://www.mini2.com/forum/attachment92113.jpg

I just watched the last 30 laps, congrats to Fernando - great to have a new champ, and in a Renault (my other car)!! :D

The constructors championship is still up for grabs, so the last couple of races should still be contests.

Honda has underlined its determination to win the Formula One World Championship with its acquisition of the full 100 per cent shareholding in the BAR Honda F1 team.

Less than a year after purchasing a 45 per cent share in B.A.RH Limited, Honda has agreed to acquire founding owner British American Tobacco's 55 per cent majority share. Honda will complete the purchase of the remaining shares by the end of 2005. The acquisition was announced in a press conference held by Honda in Tokyo today, ahead of its home grand prix at Suzuka this weekend. This race will also mark Honda's 100th grand prix with the BAR Honda team.

During the course of the past six seasons with the B.A.R Honda team, Honda's F1 programme has gone from strength to strength. In 2000, Honda returned to the F1 World Championship, having entered into a contract with B.A.R to supply engines and jointly develop chassis technology. In December 2001, a new 3-year contract, effective from 2002, was signed, the provisions of which included the strengthening of the joint chassis development project. In July 2004, an agreement was reached to extend the contract period to the end of the 2007, with the additional aim of further strengthening the partnership's structure for technological development.

The 2004 season marked the 40th anniversary of Honda's inaugural F1 campaign and saw BAR Honda achieve second place in the Constructors' World Championship. Honda now considers 100 per cent ownership of the team to be a crucial step in its ambition to win the Constructors' World Championship in the next few years.

The team will continue to conduct operations from its current base in Brackley, Northamptonshire, UK, working together with Honda Racing Development Ltd., located in Berkshire.

Awesome... anything for more competition.

Do you think Button may have been in the know on this?

ScottyB
Oct 6th, 2005, 12:49 AM
2006 is going to be an interesting year... we now have at least 5 solid teams - all with proven performance all wanting to win the Championship.

Button probably had some idea - but when you look at the position he would have been in with Williams and the publicity in that anyway - even had he not had the knowledge, Id still reckon he'd have done the same thing.
