Hey Scotty, are those little 'headrest' thingys that Fisi and Alonso have on them - are they to help stabilise their heads and stop their necks from copping so much?? Haven't noticed them before.

They are - a nice change from the usual 'cups' They look like they could be used as deadly weapons too - nothing like a practical trophy

I wont be surprised... this is the time to do it, as Webber needs a rocket up him and Williams could do with two successful drivers in the championship... and if you go on stats, the last time a williams driver got the fastest lap in their first GP, the other team mate went on to become world champion and then a year later they became world champion...

Was that Alan Jones then Rosberg?

Nah, it was Hill & Villeneuve in 1996. It might have also happened with Jones & his dad... before my time though.

Funnily enough, I have been thinking the same thing, but I just cannot bring myself to actually say it. Nico has the potential to be as talented, but I think Ayrton was so unique that Nico will inevitably be 'different' even if he ends up as good. Does that even make sense??

And yes, I think he is going to upstage Webber more and more.

I didn't realise he got into his first F1 car at the age of 17 (that is only a couple of years older than my son - scary thought) and is the youngest to have ever driven one!! That's impressive. I think he has a HUGE future in front of him. Just hope Williams learnt their lesson with Aryton and don't put this young talent in the same sort of situation.

Nico reprimanded by Frank and Patrick

Nico Rosberg has reportedly been chastised by his Williams team for his overly aggressive move on his team-mate at the start of the Malaysian GP.

Rosberg and team-mate Mark Webber began the race from the second row on the grid and as the lights changed the German veered over to push Webber tight to the inside in an attempt to ruin his angle into the apex of Turn 1.

However, in doing so Rosberg also ruined his own angle, lost position to Fernando Alonso, and came far too close to ending his team-mate's race for Williams' liking.

Webber told the Mirror newspaper: "Another few feet and he would've had me in the wall."

And that would not have endured Rosberg, who didn't expect Webber to fight so hard, to Williams.

"I tried to block Mark but I realised he wasn't going to lift," the rookie driver said.

"I think in GP2 most people would have backed off."

as he should have been too. I thought that infighting was a bit silly.

I was saying to someone the other day that Nico might be throwing down the fast laps, but Webber still finished higher in Bahrain, and lasted longer in KL.
Quite a few people were asking questions about whether he'd given the engine a bit too much in Bahrain too, and maybe the blowup in KL was a result of that.
As Dan said to me the other day, a driver shouldn't have to worr about blowing up, but the reality of it is, that is something they need to be aware of.

Roll on Melbourne :)

Exactly right... if you over rev the car on down shift, there is not a lot you can blame it on besides driver error can you?

Rosberg will be a force to be reckoned with in the future, but he has to stop thinking this is GP2 and start thinking this is the big league with the whole world watching you. You should certainly think twice about hanging your own team mate out to dry on the first lap!

It wasn't real smart.. I couldn't believe what I was seeing. If he'd stayed wider and not tried to take out his team mate he might have slowed Alonso.

Yes but, F1 cars use an electronic programmed shift pattern which takes car of downshifts. I think he just gunned his engine way too hard in the heat of Bahrain with bouncing the limiter and such.
As for his future, I personaly believe nothing will come of it, at least not in Championship contention. He may at one stage get a podium position or 2 or 3 or even 4. He will eventually hurt himself as he seems to want to impress on in a major way. Theres alot to live up to with a Rosberg name.
IMHO, I draw his career on par with Jensons. Started at Williams, few podiums then traded off for a good price on contract. Now do you think Williams would be even in the top 10 without the Honda backed Button payout...I dont.
As for that stupid takeoff at Bahrain....I was cringing the whole way:(
I think it wont be til after Monza and Monaco that we'll know how talented he really is. Give him a super high-speed track and a VERY tricky street circuit, then we'll see.
Dont want to sound like a prick, and Yes he has more talent than all of us combined as for being a WC.....:bad:

I am hoping it is just Rosberg's inexperience and over-enthusiasm at the moment, and that he will prove Nick wrong (and you are not being a prick, you make perfect sense, I just hope you turn out to be wrong;) )

If he learns from his mistakes, then well and good, but if he doesn't, he is doomed to mediocrity :aargh: :aargh:

I guess only time will tell. And Nick, if your prediction is correct, you are welcome to say "told ya so"  because you, well, you did!!

I think he needs to take a step back and realise that he is now the little fish... all he needs to do in concerntrate on consistency for the time being.... the speed and race position will just come in time for somebody like Nico.... also needs to pay his dues a bit with other drivers in the paddock.
