: Dealer info russ.mackay Apr 1st, 2005, 02:20 PM I've ordered an MCS from my local dealer and he told me that he had a slot for delivery in May.
I've never ordered a car direct from a dealer before so I'm not sure if I'm missing something but, The sales chap took a deposit and entered the spec into the computer. He then took a few details about finance and told me that was it. He would contact me when the car had arrived at the dealer. He was very vague about this. I haven't got any paperwork to take home or confirm that I actually have a car on order, is this normal?
Sorry if I'm being thick, but if you don't ask etc... asterix2112 Apr 1st, 2005, 02:40 PM I just ordered my car too (Wednesday). Same thing (though Sterling of Virginia was much nicer). They will enter the car into the computer and get a "production number". You can then enter that into the miniusa.com Owners site and track your cars progress. I will get my number this afternoon. I would call your dealer and ask for the production number.
I think the thing is that since these cars sell themselves and there is a wait the dealers have no incentive to be nice. I lucked out and got a nice dealer, you did not. If your salesman won't give you the production #, then I would complain to management.
- John Connor russ.mackay Apr 1st, 2005, 02:43 PM I think it's a bit different in the UK, you can't track your order in the UK owners lounge. I guess I should still have a production number though. ButtonIt Apr 1st, 2005, 02:49 PM Hmmm, i'm sure you should have got a receipt for your deposit and another sheet detailing deposit, any Part exchange agreement, finance and balance. russ.mackay Apr 1st, 2005, 02:52 PM Got a receipt for deposit, verbal quote on part ex, telephone call confirming finance OK with monthly payment details apr etc. Nothing else. ButtonIt Apr 1st, 2005, 02:57 PM Get your part ex quote in writing if you can, otherwise they'll change their mnds..... russ.mackay Apr 1st, 2005, 02:59 PM Yeah, think I will go and see them again, thanks. I hate not having stuff in black and white! Caz Apr 3rd, 2005, 03:15 PM Hope your dealer isn't as bad as mine Russ - if so they wont give you any information whatsoever. I'm hoping for delivery week of 10 April (after 7 months) but still no firm date! Still I'm sure you'll be ok....at least you don't live in Southampton ;) russ.mackay Apr 3rd, 2005, 05:12 PM I think I've seen another thread with you in Caz, haven't you had a lot of delays and problems? I only went in to the dealers to order the car just under two weeks ago. I can't beleive that they had a slot for May, thats why I'm so suspicious.
I hope your luck improves, is there no oterh dealer you could go to if yours is being so evasive? Tigger, Eeyore & Roo Apr 3rd, 2005, 05:16 PM I would certainly demand a summary from the dealer of the specification of the car, so that there can be no disagreement if it's not right on delivery.

Yes, I've been boring everyone for a while now with my saga of woes. The problem was that I didn't realise my local dealer had such a low allocation and that the wait would be quite so long until a few months had gone by and January delivery became April. By that time it didn't seem worth pulling out and starting on another possible three month wait with another dealer further away. I now know from this website that some dealers have a much bigger allocation (and also there is the chance of a cancellation) so hopefully yours is one of these and you will not have to wait long at all. My main problem has been complete lack of communication from their end - I think this has wound me up more than the wait itself  . I would advise you get confirmation in writing though.
Caz russ.mackay Apr 4th, 2005, 10:22 AM Tried to ring dealer, but no one answering so have emailed them requesting:
Copy of order including spec etc.
Copy of Part Ex quote.
Copy of Finance quote.
Will feel much happier when I've got all this.
Thanks for the advice. russ.mackay Apr 4th, 2005, 11:28 AM Dealer replied, they are happily sending all the documentation to me. Yippee! Caz Apr 4th, 2005, 01:17 PM Glad they got back to you so quickly. Hope everything turns out well.
Caz russ.mackay Apr 4th, 2005, 01:23 PM Thanks Caz, I hope they actually do what I asked.
Hope you get some good news about your new baby soon! russ.mackay Apr 19th, 2005, 03:17 PM Dealer just called, my new MCS is imminent! I'm picking it up next Wednesday.
