Ahh yes.... good idea, but i can see that being a problem on a soft top.....

I'll stick with my boot scuds for the moment.... they are very handy for dealing with tailgators!

hehehehehehe :D :D :D

No rockets or SCUDS on mine, but I did amaze a couple of Corvette owners and a BMW weini last week by opening my windows from a range of 150 meters while we were having a conversation about gas mileage. They were in awe! Both at the range of my Mighty MINI Key and at my 32.6 mpg record for my last tank of gas!

(Corvettes: about $50 to fill up now, and about 17-20 mpg while cruising on the highway and surface roads to work, about 26 on the highway sustained at 65 mph--not bad for 400 hp! BMW 325, about 26 mpg. KEY RANGE: about 1 to 2 meters for either!)

32 mpg - yeah right!

What - are you pushing the thing around?

MINI drivers don't drive like that - suggest you buy yourself a diesel.

Nope, no need to push, I just upshift at 3,000 rpm most of the time. And my daily driving is mostly highway miles for my commute. I also like to draft behind brick-shaped SUVs--they not only suck, they suck you along, too.

Also, I leave a big gap between me and the car ahead of me in stop and go traffic, so I do more going than stopping--it's a bit more economical and easier on your car to cruise a steady 25 mph in 2nd or 3rd then it is to go 0-50 and 50-0 repeatedly. By using the following distance between me and the car ahead of me, I'm just rolling up at 25 mph when they take off--then they have to stop and I just keep on rolling.

For more info on this tactic, check out:

Also, I don't use the OBC to compute my mpg, I use the trip odometer and the gauge at the gas pump. This seems to be more accurate than what my MCS is telling me. I have to admit that my MPG has gone as low as 20, at the track, and been in the 26-29 range on the back roads while bombing. But, usually, I tend not to hold it at the redline....

I had a new feature programmed into mine!!!

As well as comfort opening which puts the whole top down, i now have convenience opening! I press the open button twice, and when i open the drivers door, the window lowers fully to enable me to squeeze in the car in car parks!
