I think the Focus Cossie is unlikely. I worked for the Focus brand team last year and although there was some thought it was a very low priority. The RS took much more development time than expected for durability. I went in the RS nearly two years ago and its fairly quick but FWD. Add to that the fact that the new Focus 3dr is planned for late 2003 introduction and think it seems unlikely.

Not acording to the guy from Ford I was talking to at the launch of the Mondeo ST220 at Rockingham on Tuesday! ;)

He also said there is a very hot Mondeo planned for a few years time (he did mention Cosworth!!).

Really thats good news but I still wouldn't hold my breath but hopefully i'm wrong! How did Rockingham go? What did you think of the ST220? I think a Mondeo Cossie is very likely! Did you get to meet the brand team from Focus or Mondeo?

The day at Rockingham was great, James.
See my post on here: http://www.mini2.com/forum/showthread.php?threadid=3092&perpage=20&pagenumber=79

It was members of the Mondeo team including a technical guy from Germany.
There's a lot of thought gone into that car! You can change the complete front headlight unit in under 30 seconds, for instance!

I think the Focus Cosworth has been vapour-ware for a long time now. My guess would be that they will wait until 2005 to launch it in the revised range and hopefully give the WRC team time to do something about Peugeot and Subaru... :D I'm sorry, but it makes me laugh to read all the guff that Carlos Sainz was coming out with after the two 206's that beat him were disqualified..! He was saying how this would be Ford's turning point and they have the speed and how he hasn't lost anything as he's got older... He was something like 2 min down..!!! If the Pugs hadn't made stupid mistakes (for which the team should hang their heads in shame) he would have been nowhere..!
I think for the marketing boost they will wait until the WRC team is doing better.

You've all gone mad!:D :D :D I was always a Ford man until the MINI came along, and although the MINI is the best car I've owned so far, it's also the car I've had the most problems with from new! ;)

Ford's may not be the best made cars in the world and I know they've been going through some particular quality problems lately, but they're not all that bad folks. When I worked for a shuttle company the best vans we had were Fords. They were pretty reliable, handled well and were fairly comfortable and we abused the daylights out of these vehicles. The Dodge vans were uncomfortable, handled like crud and started to fall apart almost immediately. My current commute car is a 36 years old Mustang and its pretty dependable. My wife's '96 Subaru's spent more time in the shop this year than the Mustang.

 After seeing my new MINI Cooper with the 17" "S" spoke wheels fitted, and had another good look around a dark silver "S" at the local launch party I've gone off the Focus idea again!!

You just can't beat the MINI as an overall package!! :D

If I wanted to hear about and see pics of Fords, I'd go to the Ford forum.
But that will never happen because Ford blows!

Let's talk MINI, shall we...

Now, now, there's perhaps 2 or 3 threads on the whole forum that are non MINI related...... If a thread doesn't interest you, just pass it over, as others enjoy a little diversion now and again.

Cheers

:)

PS. Knew you'd see sense in the end R1 !! :D
