12 13 14 15 16 17 BobsWifesMini May 25th, 2005, 04:08 PM Congrats on getting a production date.
My MINI has been waiting at the port to get shipped for the last week and I'd say the wait is not nearly as bad as the wait for production to start. For me it was a "until it gets built it doesn't exist" anxiousness versus the "it is just a matter of time" anticipation. Analogous to asking a girl out on a date versus waiting to go on the date.
The only bad thing about AFTER production is completed is that it takes a LONG time to get to the dealer after you roll out of the factory.
It took 19 days from order to end of production for us. It'll end up taking almost a full month from end of production to delivery!
Once your Mini is on a ship, there are almost 2 weeks of no new updates, more if you are being delivered to the west coast.
I loved your analogy. Of course with a month of time until you go on that first date, she could always change her mind! Pinto to Mini May 25th, 2005, 04:51 PM Help, I see that the Procyon Leader left Southampton; does anybody know if it made Baltimore yet? (or when its scheduled) It needs to get to Port Hueneme. Every site i look at it's "off the radar".
Thanks Hobbit May 25th, 2005, 06:58 PM With the Ipod adapter, you can control the Ipod through the steering wheel controls. That is the major difference. :)
But you are limited to a certain numbers of playlists right? Personally, we are going with a PanaVise mount where the large cup holder would be and jacking that puppy into the aux in the back of the radio. Have already done that on our X-Terra and it looks great! mrnevets May 25th, 2005, 07:24 PM Help, I see that the Procyon Leader left Southampton; does anybody know if it made Baltimore yet? Unfortunately it seems that nyk ships don't report their position (which they don't have to) and information about the port at Baltimore isn't freely available on the internet. I think that the Procyon Leader will make a stop at San Diego between Baltimore and Port Hueneme, as its week-ahead counterpart the Hudson Leader is doing. See http://www.sdmis.org/schedule/ for vessel schedules at San Diego. I imagine the Procyon Leader will show up on their schedule when it leaves Baltimore, but have no idea how long the trip is from Southampton to Baltimore, so I'm just checking the sdmis page periodically to see if it shows up. Other than that, we're in the dark. =/ nmlacoopers May 25th, 2005, 07:41 PM Unfortunately it seems that nyk ships don't report their position (which they don't have to) and information about the port at Baltimore isn't freely available on the internet. I don't know when the Hudson Leader left Southampton, but, its last uscg contact was the 15th in Baltimore. So, assuming it left on the 8th, that is a 7 day voyage with a max speed of 18kn. The Procyon Leader should be able to do the trip a little faster since its max speed is 19.3kn. That would put the Procyon Leader in the port of Baltimore or just on its way to the panama canal :).
I don't know if it will be stopping in San Diego though. The Hudson Leader was on their schedule before the 15th. The fastest I've seen any ship make it from Southampton to Baltimore is 9 days. When you figure the journey from Southampton to Baltimore is about 4000 miles, and you can't always go full speed when docking and leaving a port that is about the shortest voyage.
Our Mini is on the Frisia which stretched the journey out to 14 days! For some reason the Frisia decided to alter it's trip and visit Bremerhaven Germany after leaving Southampton. There better be some fresh Bratwurst in the truck is all I can say! mrnevets May 25th, 2005, 09:35 PM According to the Coast Guard information at http://cgmix.uscg.mil/PSIX/PSIX2/Default.asp, the callsign for the Procyon Leader is H3BZ. Maybe that will help someone find any tracking information about it. Pinto to Mini May 25th, 2005, 11:03 PM I just looked at the sdmis schedule; the Procyon Leader is scheduled to arrive 6/10.
The site shows the shippiling line as: Wallem Ship Mgt. Is that a mistake? nmlacoopers May 25th, 2005, 11:21 PM I just looked at the sdmis schedule; the Procyon Leader is scheduled to arrive 6/10.

Strange, it should probably be listed as NYK like the Hudson Leader. mrnevets May 26th, 2005, 12:02 AM I'm guessing it's probably a mistake. They don't even have the 'last port' information yet, it'll probably get updated when they update the last port information. jetstar1 May 26th, 2005, 10:18 AM Fellow Motorers, I just got my VIN number!! :D
Um...now what happens? BobsWifesMini May 26th, 2005, 12:23 PM How depressing! The Frisia schedule was just updated.
Instead of arriving in Charleston on May 30th, now it is scheduled for June 1st. That side trip to Germany has really delayed its arrival. BobsWifesMini May 26th, 2005, 12:30 PM Fellow Motorers, I just got my VIN number!! :D

1.) you call the ASK MINI line several times a day to see if the status has changed and get frustrated because it never seems to.
2.) you check online several times a day hoping for a change.
3.) The ASK MINI attendants will start to recognize your voice.
4.) You get thrilled by progress and frustrated by delays
Actually after your Vin, you'll get a completion date.
Usually the Mini finishes early, ours finished on the completion date.
It seems like not a lot happens for a while, but then it rushes through all the stages, body shop, paint shop, assembly, quality check.
Then it goes to Southampton and waits for a ship.
Then a LONG wait.
Expect almost a month after it rolls out of the factory to delivery on the eastern half of the country, and add a week to 10 days for the western portion. reeechard May 26th, 2005, 03:24 PM How depressing! The Frisia schedule was just updated.

I'm hoping I get on the Manon today. I've been booked on it for the last week and of the VIN's showing up I've been at the terminal longer then almost all of them. Though I know that doesn't necessarily mean anything, I'm using everything as a hopeful sign. If I do get on it, Manon arrives on June 3rd in NYC. Still looks to be on track for a pre-birthday pick-up date though. Fingers crossed. BobsWifesMini May 26th, 2005, 03:28 PM I'm hoping I get on the Manon today. That would be great, we got loaded on the 14th of May and now are looking at 18 days to make it to Charleston!
An 8 day trip sounds much better. Glazer May 26th, 2005, 06:07 PM Concerning the Frisia, The date it shows online is the sailing date. Could it arrive a day or two before the date online. That would be nice, but I believe it is both the arrival and sailing date. If you look you'll see that it shows Baltimore on May 29th-30th. If the sailing date is the 30th, then it couldn't arrive too much earlier.

There is a great site that shows the arrivals and departures at Southampton.
http://www.southamptonvts.co.uk/com/smovements.htm
I just checked it and found that most car carriers get in and leave within about 8-10 hours. For instance a ship that docks at 9:30am will depart the same day at 6pm.
When the ships are sitting still at a dock they are not making money. Kind of like an airlines plane. If it is sitting at the gate, it's not making money. It has to be traveling with the paying passengers on board.
They load and unload these ships FAST!
We want our mini too, but it looks like we'll have to wait. The updates at the Kline site only happen once a week, so now we have to wait until next Thursday morning to see it the schedule is updated again. eastbaymagic May 26th, 2005, 06:54 PM My MINI has been at the docks "awaiting transport" since Friday, May 20, but there's no shipping information available. Does that mean that it hasn't been assigned a carrier, or just that the carrier its been assigned doesn't give updates?
I keep checking the WW website under cargo tracking (auto), but it doesn't show up there either.

Most Minis catch a ride pretty quick, so you are probably on board a ship right now.
Problem is finding out which one.
That is where you have to call your MA at the Mini dealer.
Mine was able to tell me what ship I was loaded on and when it's supposed to arrive.
They'll have that info a couple of days after it's been loaded onto a ship.
Our Mini arrived at Southampton on the 12th and was scheduled to leave on a WW ship on the 20th. On the 16th our Mini disappeared from the WW site. A couple of days later I called my MA and they confirmed that it was on the Frisia which left on the 14th.
If it isn't on the WW site, then it's scheduled on another line.
Call your MA, at this point, that is your only source until you know the ship. nmlacoopers May 26th, 2005, 07:23 PM My MINI has been at the docks "awaiting transport" since Friday, May 20, but there's no shipping information available. MINIs shipped to the left coast do not use Wallenius Wilhelmsen but instead use NYK (there is no way to track these ships.) These ships leave about once a week with the most recent one leaving on the 18th (Procyon Leader.) So, I doubt your MINI is on a ship right now but should make it on one in a couple of days.
My MINI finished production on the 8th and was probably loaded onto the Procyon Leader on the 18th (status changed to In Transit on the 19th.) eastbaymagic May 26th, 2005, 09:40 PM Oh I get it! Thank you! Very helpful (and reassuring!). :p
Did you get all your shipping info from the ASK MINI help line? I'm wondering how I can find out the name of my ship too.
Thanks again!

Some members here have called NYK Line directly for vessel schedules. Otherwise, your best bet is to keep an eye on the southampton vessel schedule:
http://www.southamptonvts.co.uk/com/smovements.htm
Usually, I found the "Agent" listed for NYK Line ships to be Premiership, Limited. These ships usually depart from # 34/35 and will most likely be bound for Baltimore, Maryland (going on to Port Hueneme). You can verify NYK's vehicle vessels by going to their fleet list:
http://www2.nykline.com/nykinfo/car_carrier_services/fleet_list/index.html
My MINI didn't show up as being "in transport" on ASK MINI or the website until about 2 days after the Procyon Leader had sailed, and this verified that my MINI made it on this vessel. In my case, about the time the Procyon Leader arrived in Baltimore, the vessel schedule for the San Diego port began showing the Procyon Leader as arriving around June 10 or so. Shortly thereafter, my vessel should arrive at Port Hueneme within a day or two. Check out San Diego's schedule at:
http://www.sdmis.org/schedule/
Otherwise, just bug the hell out of your MA! My MA, who is at the San Francisco dealership, has been marginally helpful. Keeping updated with other MINI2 members has also been a great help to me.
I hope this breakdown of my journey helps you with yours. The wait is excruciating, and yet fun at the same time! :D   :(

Well, mine is in the same status as yours right now. Since they are both going to the same dealership, it's now just a painful waiting game for our MINI's to get through the VDC and to the dealership.
Want to take any guesses when you think they might be ready for to be picked up? eastbaymagic May 27th, 2005, 06:50 AM A step-by-step guide! You are awesome! Thanks ....
I've got a ton of travel coming up for work over the next month or so, and it's killing me not to know how to schedule around the arrival of my new playmate! Hate to think of him sitting on the lot of the dealership waiting for me to finally come by to pick him up!...

How long should the Dealer accessories take?
