My MINI finally went from "On Order" to "Scheduled for Production" just two days ago after sitting at "On Order" for exactly a month. Anyone else have one due in May? I can't be the only one. :) haroldchrismeyer Apr 4th, 2005, 12:47 AM Look at the MINI news headlines. There is a strike, and has stopped production. rsinsheimer Apr 4th, 2005, 12:52 AM Look at the MINI news headlines. There is a strike, and has stopped production.
Please note the date of the announcement and relax, or, as my sister-in-law likes to say, take a chill pill.
:D elderberries Apr 4th, 2005, 05:04 AM Sheesh, got all nervous, then read the news article. Somehow the idea of MINI stopping production over a war between tea and "posh" coffees didn't sound too likely... :) elderberries Apr 4th, 2005, 08:26 PM Got my VIN # today - it's in production, and scheduled to be assembled by April 9th or 10th. That's only 5 days! :) laura f Apr 5th, 2005, 05:57 PM oooo i almost started one of these threads too cause i couldn't find one.... till now ;)

probably missed something as i always do :p and can't track it being in the UK :( but thought I'd join in anyway :D robertjoy Apr 5th, 2005, 09:28 PM My MCS went "scheduled for production at the beginning of April. I have learned a lot by reading Mini2 for a couple of years, glad that most of the early kinks have been ironed out by Mini. Anyone else out there from the Portland area? elderberries Apr 8th, 2005, 04:41 PM I called 1-866-ASK-MINI a couple days ago and was told that my completion date was scheduled for April 9th or 10th. I assume from there it goes to paint?
The lady at that phone number was extremely friendly and hepful; didn't seem to mind my calling for a status update at all. She encouraged me to call back any time I wanted an update. :)
I need to learn all the right abbreviations for what my MINI has...
lessee...
- MCS convertible, CR/B, white bonnet stripes
- automatic transmission (never driven a stick, I admit it.)
- with just every package they offered, except the... what was it called... whichever one gave it about 5 more horsepower. Didn't go with that one.
- onboard navigation system (I get lost a LOT.)
- 17" wheels, don't remember the exact type. But they're mighty purty. :)
Now he just needs a name! (It's a he... not sure why.) Oh, and I need a nice black MINI baseball cap. I have very long hair and in a convertible, I'm going to have to put it up every time I drive if I want to avoid having dreadlocks by the time I get where I'm going... ;)
Oh! And no Portland here... I'm in Austin.
Edited to add: Villa Mini, your signature photo is beautiful! I love those subtle checkerboard stripes. dpacker Apr 9th, 2005, 02:21 AM Got my VIN # today - it's in production, and scheduled to be assembled by April 9th or 10th. That's only 5 days! :)
Not to tell you what thread to post in, but if your car is being built this month (in April), you should join the April production group. That way you will be going through everything with those whose cars are being built at the same time as yours.
By the way, I checked out your specs - your MINI is going to be SWEET! Good luck with your production. Hope it's speedy and that you make it on the boat quickly. To me, the boat part was the hardest!
Debbie elderberries Apr 9th, 2005, 09:45 PM Hmm... I assumed the threads were to discuss cars due to arrive in that specified month. Ah well... I'll go check the April thread. Thanks! :) Paul c Apr 13th, 2005, 07:56 PM Hi all

But the wait has resulted in major nail biting behaviour here!!!

Okay, now I'm confused. Just called again and was told production scheduled to begin the week of April 25th -- one week ahead of the original date I was given. Do they often bump dates forward as other orders are cancelled, or are they just confused?
Just called again (okay, I'm obsessive-compulsive when it comes to my Mini...his name is Ernie) and they told me he was entering production TODAY, with a completion date of May 4th. Not that I'm upset that he's being assembled early, but the Website still has me listed as On Order. nmlacoopers Apr 26th, 2005, 04:11 PM I just called ASK MINI and found out there my vehicle is now scheduled for production on the 19th of May. Looks like the delay due to the H/K stereo was only 2 weeks :). If all goes well I should see my Cooper S mid-late June :) jetstar1 Apr 30th, 2005, 01:20 AM I ordered my Mini Cooper S Convertible on April 23rd. The Owners Lounge section still shows it as "on order." I called MINI USA today, and the representative told me our car was slotted in for week 22, which I think is the week of May 30th. She estimated that the car might be done at the end of June if everything falls into place. I'm glad she was able to help me because I was a little nervous after seeing the "on order" status in the Mini Owners Lounge. Can you tell I've never ordered a car before! Genevieve Apr 30th, 2005, 04:36 AM I took some advice from this forum and called 866-ASK MINI to check the status of my MCC - although the website says its "on Order", ASK MINI says its scheduled for production!!! It is supposed to be in production as of week 20, May16-22. Different reps have told me different stories as far as how long it takes. One rep said 3 weeks, another 5-8 weeks, another said a month. What have you guys been hearing?
I'm SOOOO exicted - losing plenty of sleep and even forgetting to eat because of my constant MINI obsession. Glad to know I'm not the only one ;)
I called the dealer today to have the iPOD adapter added - but don't know if I'm too late to add such a spec - fingers crossed. Does anyone know if a feature can be added once the vehicle is scheduled for production?
Anyone else out there from the Philadelphia Area?
My MIN Convertible:
Cool Blue Metallic Exterior and Dash
Chrome Mirror Caps and Hinges
Black Leather/Sport Seats
Black Top
Nav System (Yey!)
Cold Weather Pkg.
Center Arm Rest
3 Sopke w/ Cruise adnd Multifunction
DSC
CVT Automatic
Front Fog Lamps
Security System
Wind Deflector
Cupholder Accessory
Black Rubber Floor Mats
iPOD Adapter  BobsWifesMini Apr 30th, 2005, 12:48 PM I called many Mini dealers in the Midwest and found out that they gave me many different production build dates. I guess each dealer has different amounts of slots they get each month. I heard build dates ranging from early May to late August.
Finally ended up ordereing one from a dealer that said early May.
Called up Ask-Mini and was told probably will start around May 5th, but online it still says ON ORDER.
My production number is 67678XX. Anyone that has a production number and a build date, would you mind posting the number (minus the last 2 digits) and the build date?
Thanks, jetstar1 Apr 30th, 2005, 02:12 PM Everyone has posted the specs for their cars, and I forgot to do so! My apologies.
Our car is a Cooper S Convertible:
Cool Blue Metallic
Soft Blue top
Dark Gravity Blue leather seats
Interior body color
Cold weather package (needed in New Jersey!)
Premium package
Sport package
Six-speed manual trnasmission
black bonnet stripes (my husband INSISTED on these, I'm still on the fence  )
cockpit Chrono package
Dynamic Stability Control
I think I'm more stressed waiting for this car than I was for my wedding! nmlacoopers Apr 30th, 2005, 05:39 PM My production number is 6780XXX and when I call ASK MINI I get the message that my Cooper S is scheduled for production with completion May 9th (thanks to having dropped the H/K stereo.)
I can't wait. I hope the next ship to the west coast leaves shortly after its completion :) BobsWifesMini May 1st, 2005, 01:42 PM Wow!
Mini changed last night from On Order to Scheduled for production but I don't see a date anywhere.
Also it added a VIN number. This happened late last night so what gives, are they working on a Saturday night?!
Again, anyone else who wishes to share, I have a production number of 67678XX and ASK -MINI says that it could go into production around MAY 6th. I'm trying to figure out if these production numbers are actually the order that they are built.
QUICK QUESTION!
I ended up buying my MINI from an out of town dealer, but will have it serviced locally.
MY in town dealer said that if I order it from out of town I do not get a free loaner during service calls, but if ordered through them I do. Anyone else know if this "free loaner" is a dealer to dealer thing or a standard MINI perk? AprilWhine May 1st, 2005, 05:00 PM Wow!

Loaner cars are up to the dealer. Genevieve May 2nd, 2005, 04:46 AM I did the same thing - live in Philadelphia area and bought the car in Connecticut in order to have it 2 - 21/2 months sooner. I understand that i can get it serviced @ any MINI dealer under the warranty, but unfortunately I'll only be able to get a loaner from the dealer I bought it from (obviously don't plan to get oio changes in CT!)
I figured this to be part of the "cost" of getting my precious MINI for the summer - YEY!! - instead of getting it just in time for the cold weather!
-Genevieve Guzmania May 2nd, 2005, 11:03 PM They say my mini will be reay end of may....I ordered it mid April and its already in production!! I can not wait to get it! :red: :) jetstar1 May 2nd, 2005, 11:29 PM Mini USA rep I talked to today said the Oxford plant runs two shifts, so they are working almost 24/7 on cars. (I was surprised by that.) So there might have been someone around on a Saturday to update the system! BobsWifesMini May 2nd, 2005, 11:36 PM Wow!
I called 1-866-ASK-MINI and found out our Mini went into production on April 29th!
We placed the order on April 26th!
He laid out the following time line...
7-8 days in production
3-5 days after production to be delivered to Southampton and placed on a ship
12-14 days on the water to Pot Charlotte
3 days in the prep center at Charlotte
1-2 days on a truck to Indianapolis
Even using the worst case days on all of those that is 32 days from start of production!
Is that possible?!
Wow again! acande1 May 3rd, 2005, 03:45 AM Hello Everyone !
Been lurking these forums for a couple weeks now. What an amazing source of info for prospective buyers! Wasn't thinking about buying a car at all until an unfortunate accident totaled my previous car about 3 1/2 weeks ago....For some odd reason I was immediately drawn to the Mini....I really don't understand it what it was, but I pretty much decided to buy one from the moment I realized the insurance company was "totaling out" my car....I knew that the only way I wouldn't buy a Mini is if I found out that I didn't fit in it well, didn't like the drive or that the car didn't like me....fortunately, that never happened!
Anyhow, I ordered my MCS on Friday 4/29/05 and was told by the dealer the same day that the car is already scheduled for production. I've yet to call ASKMINI during business hours to see what the production date is (if there even is solid date that is). Will do so tomorrow morning. I'm not trusting the website as it just says "ON ORDER". Incidentally, my prod number is 67718XX.
Specs are fairly standard:
- BLK/BLK MCS, Lapis Blue Leather, 17in Web Spokes and all 4 packages (Prem, Sport, Cold, Conv). No Navigation, none of the other dealer installed accessories. Those can usually be had for a much cheaper price online and/or installed by myself. nmlacoopers May 3rd, 2005, 04:45 AM Hello Everyone !

Sorry to hear about that. I hope you were not hurt in your accident!
Surprisingly, my decision to buy a MINI was due to the same sort of incident. I totaled my Scion tC mid-March and was putting a deposit down on a Cooper S within a week (I was completely sold after the test drive.)
BTW, no need to call during business hours, the automated system is 24/7. Redwytch May 3rd, 2005, 10:19 AM Hi Everyone,
Sorry for not popping in here earlier, I looked for a May production/delivery forum a while ago, but didnt see one! We ordered our Cooper (spec below) on 1st March, and were given a provisional delivery date to our dealers (Bluebell in Wilmslow, Cheshire, Uk) of 5th May, with a pick up date within 5 days of delivery. We checked this with the dealers 2 weeks ago, and were told to ring back in the last week of April for the reg number, and all was well until Thursday last week, when we rang to confirm and check if they have our reg yet, only to be told she's been delayed 12 days!! Now, going off what we were told we both booked a week off work to go n play in her when she arrives (as we both work shifts we have to give our works 4 weeks notice for hols), and she now arrives the day after we go back to work! D'oh!!
Anyone else had any notice of delays??
Also, it seems a little unfair that our cousins over the pond in the US can check their delivery status by the net or phone, whereas we in the home of the New Mini, the UK cant even get anything without phoning the dealers, and then waiting for them to get back to us!! Come on Mini, if you can do it for the US, you must be able to do it for us in the uk too!!
Anyhows, nice to meet you all, please forgive my rant, but not happy at having to wait till after my hols to get our new Mini Cooper!
Sounds like you all have sweeet Mini's on order, our spec is below for any that are interested!
Mini Cooper - Electric Blue with Black Roof and Mirror Caps
Black Bonnet Stripes
Chrome Line Interior and Exterior
Panoramic Sunroof
Chilli Pack
16" 5 spoke light alloy silver wheels
Darkened Glass
Full Black Leather profile sports seat
Folding Mirror Pack
Chrono Pack
Harmon/Kardon Hifi
Boost Tape Deck
6 Disc Boot Changer
Cooper S Stainless steel pedals set
We plan on fitting the 4 spotlight set from Minisport, and fitting blue neons in the footwells, possibly the chrome pillar supports aswell, and perhaps get the front side windows tinted a little darker to match the rear ones, but other than that I think we'll be keeping her pretty standard. The Electric Blue/ Black / Chrome look should be really mean n moody!!
Anyhows, nice to meet you all!
Take care n keep safe

Do you think that if one of us here in the U.S. were to call into 1-866-ASK-MINI that we could get information for you and post it?
Or do you think that the ones sold in the U.K will not show up for us?
Can you in the U.K go to the owners lounge for the U.S. at miniusa.com and plug in your production number? | |
