Well,

I just received a call from my MA, the MINI has arrived at the dealer and is being prep'd as I type. I am going to go by and say hello tonight :D , and take delivery later this week.

Silverwolf, Stricks, et al.--you are next!!!!

Just for laughs I checked the OL, and I am still en route, even though my MA has called and the car is ready for delivery.

That's awesome Rusty! I'll bet the anticipation is completely nerve racking! :D

I'm REALLY, REALLY hoping that my MINI will be at the dealership here in Dallas by this weekend. I know it's wishful, what with just being off-loaded yesterday, but I can hope, right? :p

Mina.

She's named after Mina Harker, heroine of "Dracula" who Dr. Van Helsing remarked had the "brain of a man with a woman's heart." I thought that was an appropriate name for her. I hope the pictures download!

The delivery process was pretty smooth. We got to Princeton, and she was waitiing in the showroom. Our MA spent about 45 minutes going over all of her features, and making sure she didn't have any scratches or dings. Then we signed the paperwork, and left.

Driving home was fantastic. It took me a couple of miles to get used to the shifter, but after that, I had a big, sloppy grin on my face, zipping along, TRYING to keep her under 4,500 RPM.

Our neighbors gathered around when we got home, and they absolutely loved her. They especially loved the cool blue color, bonnet stripes, and blue leather seats with the orange stitching.

I'm thrilled that she's finally here, and that she's a joy to drive. I can't believe she's my car. I'm so unworthy. :p

Jetstar1,

How close was your "estimated production date" to reality? My car is headed to Baron at Kansas City so I'm not sure if it's going to NY or Charleston VPC. My 2003 MCS came in through NY. I suppose this will all become clear soon enough.

Wingman, do you mean my "estimated completion date?" If so, Mina was one day early. She was estimated at June 4th, completed on the third, and was at Southampton on June 4th. Mina was a week 22 car, and she started on June 1st.

Ms. Jetstar,

Gorgeous!! I am so jealous. I love the blue, if only it was available on the hatchback. Enjoy the ride. I;m hoping to be in your situation in a couple weeks.

Your car is fantastic. Congratulations and enjoy the ride!

That makes me feel a little better knowing a date to work from. Based on my pervious experience at this process, I would expect delivery around July 15th - 20th. With luck, I will make the Jingu Maru departing Southampton on the 29th. Thanks for your help.

Nah, it's going be nirvana when your car comes. It's hard to describe. You've tracked it for months, agonized over every step, and when you finally see it in the showroom..it's worth it. I have showroom pictures, but they're kinda lame. They squeezed her into a small space by the doors because another car set for delivery was in the main showroom.

As for swag, Princeton put in the MINI carpet car mats, and we got two keychains with mountaineer carabiners on the ends. They're cool. Hubby wants rubber mats, so I think we'll order those later. The car doesn't come with mats  They also filled the gas tank.

One thing to warn everyone about is when you're driving your baby home, it will smell like it's on fire

The burning smell is some fluids that may have gotten into little crevices burning off. Also there may be some smoke out the tailpipe. I think BMW uses some sort of wax on the pipes or something that also burns off when it's first driven. Just wanted to give you a heads up :D Your baby is not going to burst into flames. It just smells that way!

We're keeping an eye on the top, since everyone on MINI2 obsesses over the white spots and creases. I used to own a Ford Mustang convertible with a tan top, and that thing had spots and creases everywhere! It's just the nature of the convertible beast, especially if it's a canvas or cloth top.

I think I'm gonna take it easy today, and head to the local Home Depot :D Plus, I gotta program in all of my radio stations, because I can't drive if my stations aren't set. ;) I may also swing by the Apple Computer store, and check out the iPod plug in for cars.

JS,

Thanks for the tip about the alarming smells! I would have turned right around and demanded some answers. It was interesting to learn that your dealer provided you with mats, considering mine stated during the ordering process that I should consider getting some because they refuse to provide them. Have fun at Home Depot and Apple--enjoy your birthday :D

The boat is scheduled in on the 6th of July at charlston so think it will get to Oaklahoma City by the 11th? Hopefully I'm posting on the correct page. I don't know about production group, but I do know that when I called 866-ASK-MINI they informed me my car had an estimated completion date of June 30!

I guess I lucked out, since I ordered mine at the dealership on Thursday, June 16. After I ordered, the dealer informed me that if I had waited one more day, I would have been pushed back to another production group that would have meant August or later delivery! However, he didn't provide me with this "Production Week Date" that everyone refers to, and I can't seem to find it in the Owner's Lounge website.

My details (forgive me if I type out, not used to all the slang acronyms yet)!
2005 Mini Cooper
Silver Metallic/Black Roof and Mirror Caps
5-speed getrag manual
15" 7-holes (all-season)
Cold Weather Package (heated seats, mirrors and washer jets)
Premium Package (auto AC, Sunroof, on-board computer and steering wheel w/controls)
Xenon Headlights
Front/Rear Fog Lamps
Spoiler
DSC
Sport Suspension
Sport Seats
Black Leatherette
Anthracite interior surface and headliner

I didn't order the Sport Package because I didn't want the run-flat tires. Didn't really see the need, I can change a tire! But I ordered everything else that was in the package individually.

So I am obsessively checking the MINI Owner's Lounge for updates and trying to resist going back to the dealership for my MINI fix. I've already thought of a few excuses to go by this weekend (status update, etc), and I will probably lack the willpower to keep from going!

If anyone else is in my poroduction group/estimated completion date, let me know! I'll keep you updated on any information I find out.

Order Date: June 16

"On Order" Status updated to include correct options on: June 20

Welcome Loxycoon, you are in the right place. Your car sounds great!

You won't find the build week on the Owner's Lounge. You can get that from either your MA or from an ASK MINI customer service rep. (The automated message doesn't get that specific.)

When you car leaves the Oxford plant (it's a 24/7 shop), you can use the tracking links (ship information/ports, etc.) that we have on this thread. I think they're on page 3, and I posted them. You car will be starting down the assembly line soon!

BTW everyone: My MA let me peek at the system they use to track our cars! It looks like a timeline at the bottom with an animated car that tracks all of the steps, with a grid that details the dates the car goes through what process. Interesting.

I got two waves from fellow MINI owners today. :D

I just sold my 2004 MCS Pepper White/Black with Cordoba Beige Leather with anthracite interior and have a Pure Silver MCS Convertible with black top and black bonnet stripes with Cordoba Beige Leather and anthracite interior that was completed Monday (June 20) and is waiting to get on the boat and come to me. It has automatic transmission (with paddles), convenience package, cold weather package, premium package, sports package, 2RE 17” web spoke alloy wheels, rear fog light (so all of the switches would have a toggle in it) and wind deflector. I am so ready for it to get here, I have been without a Mini for a month now…

Thanks for all of the notes of encouragement. I still hope I'm not going to be labeled as "that crazy lady" when I go down to the dealership this weekend and um... ask to see the inside of one again! I mean, I never really got the chance to play with the sunroof, and I forgot to turn the lights on to see what the interior lights are like at night, and..... well, judging by the obsessive-compulsive behavior among my fellow impatiently-waiting-to-be-MINI-owners, I doubt it will be an unusual occurace!

By the way - my MA did tell me that if I had ordered anything other than the base model MINI (like the "S" or the convertible) my wait time would have been MUCH longer. Maybe that is why yours is taking so long? I'm sure everyone that currently has a MINI that ordered it in before 2005 is probably choking with laughter reading that line, considering the wait they must have had!

Hey Guys,

I just joined the forum. I ordered my Mini on May 27th 2005. Here are my specs:

2005 MCS
Hyper Blue with White Roof top and mirrors
White Bonnet Stripes
Premium package
Sports Package
Center Arm Rest
Driving Lamps
HK Speakers
Anthracite Trim (didnt know about the Anthracite Headliner, I wish I should have gotten it)
Black with Gray Seats
Black Cordoba Shifter

I have been obsessed the past couple of weeks. It has been built and will be on the TRINIDAD vessel. Anyone else on that vessel. I hope it leaves soon. I want it by next week.

I am still debating whether to get the factory alarm. I dont know if its worth it and whether I should get it right now. What do you guys think? I can always get it later.

Is anyone else on the TRINIDAD wiht my Mini?

John,

If you know what your VIN is, you can go to the Wallenius Wilhelmsen website and enter it there. You will see what ship your MINI is scheduled to be on. If the information doesn't show up yet, it might be that your MINI is still in production or (much better) is already across the sea.

Well it worked and my Mini is going to be on Triidad with your Mini.
I am in Columbia, SC and got my 2004 MCS from Century Mini in Greenville, SC and that is where I am getting my 2005 MCS convertible. I hope that means that it will not take long for it to get to Greenville from Charleston and then to me.

Any idea when Trinidad should get to Charleston?

Where are you getting you car?
