: June 2005 Production Group jetstar1 Jul 7th, 2005, 11:12 PM I just received a nasty call from the sales manager of M-Manhattan. She was upset because I gave them poor ratings on the survey we were asked to complete, but I explained to her why i felt justified (misinformation on options from day 1, 3 different price changes, incorrect floor mats, filthy upon delivery, none of the options I requested programmed, I specifically told them NOT to drill through the bumper for the front plate--and of course they DRILLED THROUGH THE FRONT BUMPER, no fuel at 1st attempted delivery, I had to schedule a second delivery and the car was still dirty--inside and out, etc.) . Simple, if they did not want a poor survey, they should not have provided poor service...
JS, Hope the problem is fixed once and for all!
Thank you Rusty :D
We may get the car back tomorrow. We plan on taking it to Cape Cod if all is well. I'm not optimistic.
Your survey message made me laugh. I had TWO calls yesterday, one from Princeton MINI and one from MINI USA wanting to know my satisfaction with the sales and service experience! Are you *** kiddiing me?
The Princeton survey rep (probably a thrid party company) had no idea I was having massive problems with the car. So she was really flustered when I told her I was not satisfied with the service department and why. Aw....no brownie points for you.
Then MINI USA checked in with their survey of my satisfaction with the sales side. I liked my salesman very much, and told the survey drone that I would gladly recommend him to friends...if he worked at another dealer. I told her that my problems with the service side have totally clouded my view of the dealership in general. I flat out told her I wouldn't answer her questions on my satisfaction until my car was fixed.
The MINI USA drone ended the call with a "Welcome to the MINI family." I sarcastically said "yeah, thanks." Flabbergasted, she then said "Happy motoring," to which I responded "Sure, when I get my car back!" Then I hung up on her.
Mind you, I got both of these calls AT WORK!!
Usually, I have better manners, but don't have people call me to take satisfaction surveys when I've driven my fresh off the boat car for three days, and then it's immediately in the shop for two weeks, with little to no updates on whether it's fixed or not! jetstar1 Jul 7th, 2005, 11:18 PM ok,everyone, i don't know if any of you have noticed this yet..
but how am i supposed to hang a hangtag on my mirror? i have a parking hangtag for school that i must have.. and i'm not seeing a way to do this.
Silverwolf, I have a hangtag too for my company parking garage, and I got it to work.
I had to position the opening of the hangtag under the mirror, (kinda parallel to the mirror) give it a shove, and then swung it around so it would hang.
Hope that's not too confusing  goofytruax Jul 8th, 2005, 12:32 AM the isolde seems to have left without me too :(
this after having the maerske teal leave without me last week :(
I don't think there is a reason to the way they load cars. I think it is some drunk guy with a set of dice and he walks along the cars rolling dice and when the dice roll the number he is thinking of that car gets loaded. If too many cars get the number the sober guy that loads the ship bumps the last ones they try to load. Once you get bumped you go make to the dice lottos.
I didn't fair well with the dice lotto. I missed four ships till K-line picked my MINI up. My ship is in boston but is sitting there for 3 days. Must be some party. Then on the Charleston. :)
Hope a K-line left on the 6th and one leaves the 11th If you keep checking the W&W site and your vin no longer works you are on a K-line Cadfael_Tex Jul 8th, 2005, 01:18 AM I was wait listed when I didn't have an asterix ther first time and wait listed the second time with an asterix. How perplexing. I may have to opt for the overland route. Any Siberian MINI owners on here? DeeSquare Jul 8th, 2005, 03:03 AM KapS,
You and I seem to be in the same situation, but there is hope. The Owner's Lounge as of this evening finally says that my car is at the VDC and my estimated delivery date is 7/12. Hooray, my car is no longer in limbo! I guess I'll see you at MINI of Towson on the 12th or as soon as the dealer is finished with it.
To those of you who keep missing the boat... I feel your pain. Hopefully your ship will come in soon. Lanfear Jul 8th, 2005, 04:02 AM Lanfear, you rock (nice /nick, btw). While I haven't managed to find the Tagus (it might already be out of British waters?) the links that you have provided are excellent. I love your slide show, wish I had thought to do something similar. Thanks for feeding my MINI-obsessed habit!
My MINI should get in at the VDC in NY/NJ next Wednesday (12) and I hope to take delivery about a week after that. Now that I think it's safely on a ship, I probably need to concentrate on selling my current car! Snobby BMW dealership won't take my Mitsubishi in on trade - they only take MINIs or BMWs. *sigh*.
I'm glad you liked the slide show. Everyone else thought I was nuts. But what do they know? If they knew anything, they'd own a MINI too.
My :dark: MINI should be ready about that time too. It hopped on the boat on June 19th, so I'm hoping for a call any day now! Good luck with selling your current car and all the best with the new one. ;) Lanfear Jul 8th, 2005, 04:07 AM Sadly, an asterix means you have been waitlisted by W&W for another ship. :(
Sorry for the silly question, but what is an "asterix?" I tried to look it up on Google to no avail! I just see references to open source telephony, goths and such. silverwolf08 Jul 8th, 2005, 05:06 AM Thanks Cadfael and JS.. I figured it out :D the mirror has one tiny spot where the tag can go, as the rest of its "arm" is really thick.. i just had to move into the passenger seat to see it properly.
hah. i was thinking when college starts back up, i was going to be explaining why i didn't have a tag.. silverwolf08 Jul 8th, 2005, 05:07 AM Sorry for the silly question, but what is an "asterix?" an asterisk is this- * * * Lanfear Jul 8th, 2005, 05:15 AM an asterisk is this- * * *
I thought asterik was something different than an asterisk. I feel silly now...never heard it called that before. Thanks. silverwolf08 Jul 8th, 2005, 05:22 AM I thought asterik was something different than an asterisk. I feel silly now...never heard it called that before. Thanks.
i think it's just pronunciation. spelled asterisk, but no one pronounces it that way. pretty sure anyway. ;) Lanfear Jul 8th, 2005, 05:33 AM i think it's just pronunciation. spelled asterisk, but no one pronounces it that way. pretty sure anyway. ;)
I pronounce it that way. *cough* Now I'm going to have to pay attention to everyone when they say it. I'll ask my co-workers tomorrow what that star symbol above the 8 is to see what they say. Tee hee! :p
Anyway, I'm still waiting for my MINI. It's just painful now. It's been 6 weeks and 3 days so far since the initial order, 12 days since the Don Pasquale unloaded him/her (haven't decided gender yet) at Halifax Harbour, and 8 days since I last drove a Cooper S. To make things worse, I'm driving a Chrysler 300 I borrowed from my vacationing brother while I wait. Bleh. Handling? What handling? Even my SUV that I had until last week handled better and seemed less likely to roll over.
Won't be long now ... must tell self that. Yes, not long. Not long at all. Very soon. Yes, very soon. We will have it. We will have the precious soon.
Um yeah. It's past my self-imposed bedtime. Night folks. Threat Jul 8th, 2005, 12:29 PM After a long day, my Mini is finally in my hands! Lots of new sounds & smells (thanks for the warning Jet) to get used to. Man is it a blast!
Pictures coming soon. girasole Jul 8th, 2005, 12:46 PM Congrats Threat! Enjoy!! :) Loxycoon Jul 8th, 2005, 12:58 PM I don't think there is a reason to the way they load cars. Actually, I have a new theory. Girasole and Cadfael - what color are your MINIs? Mine's pure silver with a black roof/sunroof. Maybe the guy selects who gets on the ship based on color. I can see it now. "I like that one, load it. That one, too. Eewww, that's a nasty color. Let it sit and wait." :D
Or then conversly, maybe he loads the ones he DOESN'T like and keeps the nice ones hanging around! rustyb Jul 8th, 2005, 01:01 PM Thank you Rusty :D

Well said. These calls are like rubbing salt and lemon juice in fresh wounds!
I REALLY hope you get the car back in time to head to the Cape. sprp85 Jul 8th, 2005, 04:55 PM Do you guys know what is going on with M.T.?
W&W shows 2 different dates for docking at New York. today and tomorrow.
I thought it was supposed to be there on Thursday..
I would like to see my car before I leave to Myrtle beach next week..  :D girasole Jul 8th, 2005, 04:59 PM Actually, I have a new theory. Girasole and Cadfael - what color are your MINIs? but i was of the belief that there are NO bad colors for a mini :D MiniGT Jul 8th, 2005, 05:11 PM Any west coasters here on this thread? If so, have any of you received your Mini yet or know if it is at the vdc yet? Just curious. I'm still waiting for mine. It finished production on June 12th and waited at the dock for over a week. So now it should arrive at the vdc on July 20th! Those folks on the east coast are so lucky with their short waits.

No such thing as a short wait  . Any wait is long wether it is a week or a year. :( goofytruax Jul 10th, 2005, 02:32 AM LOL loxy!
but i was of the belief that there are NO bad colors for a mini :D
I think that the ships are either all one color or are a rainbow of colors. So in the rainbow only so many of each color make it on a boat. Thats how some people make it right on a boat while others sit in agony waiting for one. MiniGT Jul 10th, 2005, 05:17 AM :red: Supposidly mine was docked today, I sure hope so.
I don't have a date yet on when it will arrive at my dealership in Arizona. I'm hoping it will be here by Wednesday but my MA said it could be at the VDC anywhere from 2-3 days to a week. It will be really hard to wait after it does get here because then they have install the works and aero kits and that will probably be at least a week. It will be hard not to go and see it and want to take it. Two more weeks, I keep saying to myself. As soon as I get it, then the next week I have to travel to Reno for Hot August Nights. That will be fun but really long to be away from my MINI. :( girasole Jul 11th, 2005, 10:20 AM i'm now listed as booked on the falstaff, which ships out from southampton on the 14th.
maybe the third time will be the charm?
note to self: next time, don't sell current car until new car is definitely on ship! Threat Jul 11th, 2005, 02:05 PM The wait was worth it!
I put 300+ miles on my Mini over the weekend, man was it a blast. Despite a small issue of the Alternator Tension belt (I hope thats all it is) making a squealing noise (part ordered, should be fixed this week). I must say it was tough keeping it below 4500 rpms and below 90mph at times. The car drives wonderfully and I'm very happy. goofytruax Jul 11th, 2005, 02:21 PM The BALTIC HIGHWAY arrived at Charleston on 07/10/05 at 23:00 it started off loading at 8:00. So it is 9 central so my ship has been unloading for two hours! YA!!!! So maybe in about 6 or 7 days I will have my car. :D  :D  :D  :D  :D  :D  sprp85 Jul 11th, 2005, 06:24 PM Delivery of my car is scheduled for Tomorrow.
Since I'm going to SC tonight and returning on Thursday night, i won't be able to see it or pick it up til this Friday.. Sigh
Well it's all good b/c my MINI got here safely..!!
Time to take a break from MINI for a few days.. YAY!! :red: :red: :red: jetstar1 Jul 12th, 2005, 12:41 AM Dear friends....THE CAR IS REPAIRED :D :D :D :D :D :D
We picked him up on Friday morning, after the shop forman took it home overnight. (He lives 40 miles from Princeton.) We turned in the loaner, packed the luggage in for the weekend, and drove to Cape Cod. Not one noise, squeak or peep!!
Threat...have you service people check the belt tensioner. (I think that's how it's spelled. And make sure they check the belt and change it if necessary. It could get burned up. That's what happened to mine.)
We had a delightful weekend with the car. We saw many, many MINIs st the Cape. (only three convertibles though ) We got the MINI wave, and returned in kind. Even the hubby participated, much to his surprise.
The MINI is a perfect car for Cape Cod. You can park it anywhere. We ticked off SUV drivers waiting for parking all weekend!! We put over 700 miles on the car this weekend, and busted past the break in mileage.
Our friends at the Cape asked if I had named the car, and I said his name is Declan. Hubby was shocked. He said I'm going to raise a gender confused car. goofytruax Jul 12th, 2005, 01:48 AM Dear friends....THE CAR IS REPAIRED :D :D :D :D :D :D

Outstanding Jetstar
I'm glad it was fixed and made right. I finnally have a delevery date on the OL of the 22nd. I'm hoping that is pesimistic since my MINI should be off loaded today. Of course I have this whole week off and the dealer is an hour and a half away, but here's hoping it will get to them fast. | |
