That's awesome jetstar1! Hopefully she makes a speedy trip home.

I just called ASK-MINI and the automated system told me that my car is being assembled and still scheduled to be completed on Monday.

BTW, does anyone know how soon the cars get booked onto ships? I tried my VIN on the Wallenius site, and they showed no info. That makes sense since my car isn't done being built yet, but I'm just curious about how early in the process MINI books the ships?

Mine seemed to be pretty quick. If ASK MINI is remotely accurate, she left the plant on June 4th, and was booked on the ship that day. (she finished production on June 3rd, I think)

I also tried the W&W Web site when I had a completion date and got nothing. I think they actually book the car on a ship when it's sitting at Southampton. Someone on the MINIUSA board said it takes 2 hours to 6 hours to transport the car from Oxford to Southamption.

The trick now is to hope my car is loaded on the Trianon when it docks on June 7th, and stays there. W&W has been known to book a car on a ship, take it off, and waitlist it for another ship.

ASK MINI admitted their information pretty much disappears when the car is on the ship. They recommended that I check in with my MA to track the car when she's on the ship and when she gets to the VDC. Oh well.

Maybe Aprilwhine can help us figure out the booking process. She's a great source of information., and a lot of fun.

Thanks for all of the great info jetstar1! You've obviously done more research than I have -- I'm such a slacker :p

Now I just need to figure out this ship tracking mess -- all of the links you provided will certainly help with that though...

JS, your time is quickly approaching! Thanks for all of the information, I really appreciate it.

I noticed that you are in central Jersey, where did you order your Mini? I currently live in Manhattan (ordered from Mini Manhattan), but I will be moving to Mercer County, NJ soon, and I wanted to know what your impressions of the local dealerships have been. Never to early to start thinking about who is going to take care of our Minis!!!! Or to begin thinking about where to order MCS # 2, 3... :black:

Rusty-We ordered our MINI from Princeton MINI. We tried Morristown MINI, but we didn't have a very positive sales experience there. Prestige was a little too far for us to travel. So far, Princeton has been good to us on the sales side.

I've heard some good and bad things about service at Princeton MINI and good things about service at Morristown and Prestige. I will try Princeton MINI first to service our car, and if it gets ugly, I'll go somewhere else. Dealing with GM and a Cadillac CTS has trained me to not accept any guff from service people

I checked W&W today, and I'm still booked on the Trianon. I don't know what the asterixs next to the VIN numbers mean. They are on most of the VINs that were booked on June 3rd. Maybe they're confirmed on the Trianon or something.

Jetstar,
Thanks for the info regarding the dealers. Are you using the VIN # to track your vehicle with W & W? I hope you do not encounter any delays. The sooner you get the convertible, the sooner you will be able to chip away at the break-in mileage, and then all bets are off.

Over the weekend my Mini finished up in the paint shop and completed production. It's now awaiting transportation to the docks! Wow, that was fast. I guess I'd better get to selling the truck that the Mini is replacing. Anyone need a creampuff of a Nissan CrewCab? :D

I was given a date of June 9th for the completion of production, that was fast...
What is the mean time period from the end of the production completion phase to the actual delivery date? Anyone, Bueller? :D

Hi from the March group! :)

Generally, it takes four weeks for an east coast delivery and six for the west. :) But if you get lucky it can be much faster. My MCSCa completed production on March 21 and was at my dealer on April 5. :)

JOY, JOY, JOY!

I've been booked on a ship. My car is scheduled to sail on the Trianon on June 7th!!

I hope she stays on the ship, and isn't taken off at the last minute.

Congrats Judy! It's time for you to start buying trinkets for your car and checking out nearby MINI runs. :)

Cars usually show up on the WW site the day production is scheduled to complete. I don't know of any cars that showed up before production completed even though they were booked in advance.

AW,
It is nice to have a "seasoned vet" giving some much needed insight. I noticed you mentioned some trinkets for MCS's, can you provide us with some personal reviews or suggestions that you have picked up?!?!

Thanks again. :D

Rusty, I've used my entire VIN number on the W&W site to track my car. Then I cut and paste the booking number from my vehicle page and input that to the booking number section, so I can see how many cars are scheduled to travel on the Trianon.

I can't wait to take my car out and do some serious motoring. I have a 90 mile commute to work every day, and I'm sure the miles will melt away with the MINI.

AprilWhine-thanks so much for helping out on this thread!! My husband has already checked out trinkets for the car, and she's not here yet! I haven't even picked out a proper name for her yet!

I guess my MINI is waiting at the dock. I'm scheduled to leave on the Isolde on Saturday (June 11). Seems like a while to wait , but I'm sure I'll get through ;)

QUESTION: Any chance that either I'll get bumped to a ship leaving earlier or the ship I'm scheduled to leave on will be ahead of schedule?

I can't comment on any of the performance things, I may get the JCW when it's available for the MCSa, but that would be all.

For other things though, I like the wind deflector for the convertible but I think it's a bit flimsy. I bought all the snow globes so far, and the MINI down jacket. Plus models and other bits.

Best thing is the auto up window module available from Ian, GBMINI on here. :)

No chance that the ship will leave early, but lots of MINI were picked up by either a Kline or NYK ship when they were booked on a later WW ship. Good luck!

The way you'll know it was picked up by another line is that it will disappear off the WW site. Then call your MA, and tracking begins. :)

PS to Jetstar1: You may already know this, but MINI bound for Charleston and NY have different booking numbers?

I used the booking number posted on the page that has my vehicle information. I hope that ship is going to Jersey City!

No, what I'm saying that some of the WW ships stop in both NJ and SC. MINIs booked on the same ship will have different booking numbers depending on their destination port. :)

No accessories yet, although the hubby is checking out different grilles. He asked if I wanted to change the caps on the outside mirrors, but I'm not sure about that. I'd like to get a good look at the car first before I change anything.

I'd love to do some runs this summer with the car. Being in central NJ allows me to choose events in the Philly area, Metro NY or both. After years of faithfully following my husband around to his classic car events, it's finally my turn to have fun with my car :D :D

Well, it looks like I've been booked on the Trianon as well. My VIN didn't show up on the WW site until today and the ship leaves today. I'm hoping that means that the booking is reasonably final- I'm sure I'll be spending my day checking the WW site every 5 minutes to see if I'm on board.

It's starting to look like an outside possibility that I'll have my convertible in time for my vacation.

Dorian, please check the W&W site. The Trianon has sailed, and they have updated the Website. My VIN number is listed as "loaded on vessel." Hopefully your car has been loaded too.

I am also "loaded on vessel" and the ship is on its way.

How exciting. I've moved from waiting for my car to be built to waiting for my car to be delivered. Hmm, curiously it doesn't feel that different. I'm sure that's very reassuring to everyone calling every day to listen to the automated voice saying "Your vehicle has been scheduled for production, with no confirmed date..."

Mine is coming from Princeton also. I have quite a few "dealer options" being installed, so I'm guessing you might get delivery a day or so before me. Grr.

As for me, I'm still hoping that a ship from NYK or KLine will be nice enough to pick up my MINI a little early.

My :dark: is scheduled for production during week 23 (started yesterday). I wish I could access the Owner's Lounge to get the play-by-play on production, but I guess I'll just have to see what my fellow week 23'ers are saying. I'm sure the folks at the dealership wouldn't appreciate me calling every hour on the hour asking, "Is it finished yet??" "How about now?" "And now?". :D

Congrats to all who have their eagerly awaited Minis boarded and on their way. I just found out that my car is "In the body shop," from everyone's favorite automated Mini male. Not sure what this means, but my scheduled production completion date is still June 9th, so I suppose things are progressing well. Not too much longer now.

It has been easier to deal with the anticipation of the Mini's arrival sharing with all of you. I hope that after we all begin to learn things about our cars, we will continue to share as part of this unique community (sappy, but true--everyone can hold hands and sing we are the world now...)

Nah, I think your MA might drive to your house and smack you upside the head if you call every hour on the hour :D Although it is tempting....

Rusty, I'm very happy that your car is in the body shop! You will be surprised at how fast it will move through the process now. You'll be done before you know it.

One ASK MINI representative told me the recorded message sometimes is one day behind the actual status of the car. So your car might actually in the paint shop, headed for the assembly process. You might want to check in with a real customer service rep to see where it is.

I can't believe my car is on the Trianon heading across the pond. I'm worried that W&W pulled it at the last minute and waitlisted it for some reason. I must think positively.
