: June 2005 Production Group Threat Jul 18th, 2005, 02:16 PM sorry about your wait loxy. I feel your pain.
Great newws from you Jet, VERY nice to hear they read these forums. Perhaps they will listen to all of the complaints about poor tracking capabilities and do something about it.
ps still waiting for the tensioner belt parts to alleviate the horrible, really loud squealing. One week and counting, not a great way to enjoy your first weeks with a convertible, listening to that. But I have faith. redcupr Jul 18th, 2005, 04:11 PM The MINI has arrived. :D Got a call from the truck driver Thursday, he said he'd be at my house Sunday evening. Then I get a call from him Saturday night saying he'll be there at about noon on Sunday. 11:30am on Sunday, the truck pulls up to my house with my MINI inside.
Needless to say I was tickled. I get my MINI on the first day that we've had any real summer weather in Seattle AND I have all day to play with it.
Of course, all of the neighbors showed up and I didn't get to drive it until 2 hours later.
But, this car is fun! It's been so long since I had sports car (last one was a 280Z that I sold in 1996, and it was nowhere near the MINI's performance).
So, I'm 100 miles into the break-in period and I'll be diligently working at the remaining 1150.
P.S. Classic Mini in Ohio was great, the car showed up just as it would have been on the showroom floor. I highly recommend them (Julie Saxa in particular).

http://mysite.verizon.net/midwaykid/Mini-5.jpg rustyb Jul 18th, 2005, 06:14 PM Well, so much for Monday! I just called and talked to my MA this morning, who of course gave me an entirely different story! He said it won't arrive at the dealership until Thursday at the earliest.
All of my frustration aside about even waiting to get the car, I'm in a bind because BMW won't take anything but a BMW or MINI in on trade. So I sold my car over the weekend. So now I'm looking at all week without a car! Of course, my MA was more than happy to transfer me over to the BMW side to get a RENTAL car for the week! Jeez....
This is the craziest thing I have heard?! Will only take another BMW or MINI!?!?! Hopefully, you have another dealer that you can bring your car to when it arrives for service, because this one sounds REALLY BAD! rustyb Jul 18th, 2005, 06:15 PM The MINI has arrived. :D Got a call from the truck driver Thursday, he said he'd be at my house Sunday evening. Great looking car! Congrats. MiniGT Jul 18th, 2005, 06:18 PM I have a mustang and technically they don't take it but what they do is they call a bunch of wholesaler's and whoever gives you the best bid on it get's it and that's how you trade it in. That's what my dealership is doing. If they don't give me a good enough bid, I'm not trading it in. It's practically brand new only 10k miles.
Rustyb: How cool!! I've never heard of them delivering the vehicle right to your front door, what service!!! Wow! Loxycoon Jul 18th, 2005, 09:30 PM This is the craziest thing I have heard?! I thought this was totally standard for BMW/MINI and didn't even second guess it! They just told me to take it to CarMax across the street and sell it there (who incidentally say they will give you Kelly Blue Book trade-in value but in reality only offered me half that and wouldn't tell me why, even though the printout they gave me confirmed my car was in normal wear and tear to excellent in all categories).
I seem to have read everywhere about MINI owners having to sell their cars instead of trade them in. All the hassle of selling my car individually was certainly not worth the few extra bucks I received (private party sale value vs. trade in value) to ever make me want to do this again! I can't believe I never second guessed this?? jetstar1 Jul 18th, 2005, 10:26 PM I thought this was totally standard for BMW/MINI and didn't even second guess it! Loxy, we traded our Cadillac CTS in at the dealer. I believe they wholesaled it. Since I was getting a MINI, I didn't care what they did with it!!
Redcupr, your car is absolutely stunning. Congratulations. Drop off service  I'm so jealous! I wish I had that! jetstar1 Jul 18th, 2005, 10:51 PM By the way: is anyone thinking of joining their local MINI club to meet other owners, or participate in meets?
Since I'm an equal distance from NYC and Philly, I guess I could try meets in either city. redcupr Jul 18th, 2005, 11:51 PM I got the drop-off service, but I didn't get the cool "unveiling" at the dealer. So there was a trade-off.
I joined the Puget Sound Mini Motoring Club before the car even arrived. Attended a detailing session at Griot's Garage in Tacoma, WA and got to meet the fine folks of PSMINI. Joining a group pf fellow motorers should be a great way to get the most out of our Minis. goofytruax Jul 19th, 2005, 12:48 AM Well I got a call from my MA my MINI got off loaded today at the dealer. She said thursday or friday for pick up. I actually didn't talk to here my wife did. I was out flying all day. I will be flying tommorow too so hopefully I will have a break to give my MA a call. :D silverwolf08 Jul 19th, 2005, 05:07 AM By the way: is anyone thinking of joining their local MINI club to meet other owners, or participate in meets?

i met part of the Memphis club. i've been trying to join but AOL has been sucking at getting people their emails..lol.
redcupr... another Chrono pack i see! good choice. rustyb Jul 19th, 2005, 01:26 PM By the way: is anyone thinking of joining their local MINI club to meet other owners, or participate in meets?

JS,
Look into PhillyMINI (www.phillymini.org). They are active, have great web chatter, and have runs and social gatherings on a weekly basis :D rustyb Jul 19th, 2005, 01:29 PM I thought this was totally standard for BMW/MINI and didn't even second guess it! Just to build on what JS stated, I have traded Jeeps and other vehicles at BMW dealerships in NY and MA, so I know that they will take the trade. I assumed they worried about how to "get rid" of the vehicles themselves. That is why I was surprised that your dealer would not take the trade, because I know from personal experience that they will! MiniGT Jul 19th, 2005, 04:44 PM Got a call yesterday that it is officially at the Dealership! Yeah!! :p Now just waiting for the Works and Aero kits to be installed and tint. I hope to pick it up this Friday or Saturday for a fun weekend. DeeSquare Jul 19th, 2005, 07:25 PM Yeah!
Just received a call that "Oswald" is at the dealership. We'll be out motoring startng tomorrow evening.
For those of you still wating and tracking your car's status, all I can say is that the VDC certainly is a black hole. Once it arrives there little to no information is available until the car actually shows up at the dealership, at least that's my experience. Cadfael_Tex Jul 19th, 2005, 09:23 PM Ok, here's the deal. OL says it is on route, as does the dealer, as of the 9th. W & W still had it going out on a ship until a couple of days after that. Now it has dissappeared form their website. I'm guessing it's on one of the mysterious K-Line ships. Is there any way to track these. goofytruax Jul 20th, 2005, 12:40 AM Ok, here's the deal. My MA told me the name of the K-line ship my MINI was on. I then went to the K-line web site and got the shiping schedule. They did not report position so I could only wait and hope the schedule was right. The K-line site only updates there schedule once a week for arrivels and departures form ports. The link is on I think page three if it is not there it is a couple of pages back. goofytruax Jul 20th, 2005, 12:43 AM Well I talked to my MA today I will be able to pick up my MINI on thursday! whaoo! :D :D :D :D :D The are installing the driving lights today and putting on boot strips tomorrow. I can hardly wait. :) :) :) :p :p :p :p :) :) :) :red: :red: :red: :red: :red: Loxycoon Jul 20th, 2005, 01:07 AM Well I talked to my MA today I will be able to pick up my MINI on thursday!
Wow, goofytruax - that's great! I know you've had a heck of a time with tracking, etc. As I recall, your estimated delivery date was July 22, so you are going to be a day early! My MA has told me that the delivery date is the date the dealer gets the car, not the date I should have it. *sigh*. Oh well, it will be me soon enough! I will just have to sit here and be jealous!!! Cadfael_Tex Jul 20th, 2005, 02:56 AM After going back and reading through the earlier days of the thread before I knew about this website I found a link to the comings and goings at Charleston. The only K Line docking in the next 30 days is the Manhattan Bridge that should be in port on Thursday. Anybody heard from their MA that they are on it. It appeared from the posts I read that you can track by VIN on K line - is this true? Threat Jul 20th, 2005, 01:52 PM I believe that you need a BOL to track on K line (I don't think its possible). W&W allows you to track by VIN. Cadfael_Tex Jul 20th, 2005, 03:34 PM I have a delivery date!!! July 25 - so I'm hoping to go pick it up the middle of next week!!!!
Saw my first convertible on the road here in little old Lubbock this morning. Orange with a black top. silverwolf08 Jul 20th, 2005, 03:55 PM finally got my first wave yesterday ;) the guy wasn't too enthusiastic, but he still waved back.. while kinda giving me this "huh?" look.. lol.
took almost a month..rofl. all the other MINIs i have seen have either not seen me or they have been too far away to wave or they just didn't respond
and my baby got his first scrape yesterday :( curbed my rim. but it's not bad and not noticeable to anyone but me. i guess i'd rather it be the rim than the body or paintwork as his first! girasole Jul 20th, 2005, 05:05 PM I have a delivery date!!! July 25 - so I'm hoping to go pick it up the middle of next week!!!! .
great news ct!
i haven't gotten a date yet, but i think i might be on the same boat as you.

cheer up goofy.
just kidding, woohoo!!! Loxycoon Jul 20th, 2005, 05:51 PM Hey girasole - were you the one that posted the MINI waiting song?? Maybe it was lanfear. I went back to try to find it the other day, and I can't find the post! So either the person that made it removed it, or my searching skills have been pre-empted by the part of my brain that is obsessed with getting my MINI! If it was you, can you post it again?? girasole Jul 20th, 2005, 06:37 PM loxy, it was me! thanks for remembering it! :)
it was to the tune of a rather obscure song, unless you're a beatles fan, "the ballad of john and yoko" that starts with "standing on the dock at southampton..." which all of us miniacs know too well! i later deleted it because i thought that maybe no one would know the original and therefore not be able to sing along. but i'll try to remember the lyrics and post it again! :D
so no, you're not losing your mind LOL girasole Jul 20th, 2005, 06:45 PM for loxy :)
with apologies to john and yoko...
Standing on the dock at Southampton
Tryin’ to get to Charleston S.C.
I’m still on the list
Another ship I’ve missed
First the Maersk Teal then the I-sol-deeee
Christ you know it ain’t easy
You know how hard it can be
The way things are going
The 2007 model years will be out before my 2005 MINI i see... Cadfael_Tex Jul 21st, 2005, 01:34 AM Perhaps I should just wait and live with the MINI a bit, but I haven't got a name yet. I've always gone by the trucks have guys names and cars have girls names but I'm open. I was think something sort of MOD british. Oh well, there it is. Cadfael_Tex Jul 21st, 2005, 03:19 AM Thinking about the original Italian Job brought me to Michael Caine which in turn brought me too...
Alfie - whatdayathink
Also, just checked the owners lounge and... (drum roll) IT'S LANDED
AT THE VDC!!!! YEAH - they moved the estimated delivery date to the 24th (which is strange since that's a Sunday and I don't think the dealer is even open) But who cares--- IT'S LANDED!!!! | |
