: June 2005 Production Group silverwolf08 Jun 15th, 2005, 05:20 PM I am still listed as "Awaiting Transport," as well--even though ASK MIN and the W&W site (four days ago, actually) indicate that I am loaded and traveling towards NJ as I type. I have found the OL, up to this point, virtually worthless.
agreed.. Mr Clueless New Guy is always surprised when i mention that you can track the MINI in all these ways. that and he seems kinda miffed that i tell HIM that i know where Callum is when he is vague about it. i think it might annoy him. but that's his problem, because he isn't very forthcoming with info on my car. the only info i got out of him the other day was that once the Isolde reached Charleston, it will probably be around a week for it to get to my dealer, Roadshow MINI, in Memphis,TN. but he said it might be as few as 5 days.
yeah, doing this in a group makes is so much more comforting :)
and OL is very much so useless at this point in time, as it hasn't even caught up with the fact that my car went en route 4 days ago. that is getting annoying. ASK MINI says that i'm en route and to contact my MA,but i think i will not. because how much help would that be.. lol. Threat Jun 15th, 2005, 08:12 PM So I'm on the docks.... ALONE? Since Saturday? Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!
ASK MINI, the OL, and my MA are all in agreement that this is where it is.
I'm gonna snap soon. Did I mention that the weather here finally got nice and would be perfect for a convertible? Stricks Jun 15th, 2005, 08:18 PM So I'm on the docks.... ALONE? Since Saturday? Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!

Doh! Really sorry to hear that Threat! :(
Hopefully you'll be picked up soon though...any possibilities in sight, either with W&W or K-Line? jetstar1 Jun 15th, 2005, 09:16 PM For those on the Isolde, here is the NY (actually Jersey City, NJ) port information for her:

Rusty, so far my MA at Princeton Mini has been good. He's responded to my questions, and has been accurate with his information. He seems to actually know how to operate a computer to access the BMW/MINI information :D jetstar1 Jun 15th, 2005, 09:54 PM I called ASK MINI today to find out more about the "estimated delivery date" and how it's determined. Apparently the date is estimated when the ship sails from Southampton. Any more updates occur when the ship reaches it's destination.
The automated voice on ASK MINI does not change again when your car leaves Southampton. It remains "In Transit, for further information contact your motoring advisor," or whatever the heck it babbles on about.
So my estimated delivery date will be revised again on the OL when the boat docks tomorrow. Given how reliable the OL is (heh) we'll see what happens! goofytruax Jun 15th, 2005, 10:54 PM Wow after a week of no movement I went to the body shop and the paint shop.
My wife has suggested that we need a formum for spouse of obsesed MINI soon to be owners. So they can share with each other who nuts their MINI spouse has become with tracking thier MINI. She also mentioned she thought it would get better after I ordered it, opps I guess I didn't get the note....... rustyb Jun 15th, 2005, 11:30 PM :D For those on the Isolde, here is the NY (actually Jersey City, NJ) port information for her:

Jetstar,
Thanks for the ISOLDE update, and the encouraging info regarding MINI of Princeton. I am relieved to hear that you are satisfied.

The OL will give me a revised delivery date AND tell me my car is at the distribution center..when it's in my driveway :D
That OL system is totally nutty. How hard is it to keep it up to date? I'd be happy if it was a DAY behind the actual status of the car.
Support group for spouses of MINI obsessed owners? I think my husband might join...if he wasn't already absorbed by his own cars and motorcycles :D

Does that mean you got your MINI Jetstar? silverwolf08 Jun 16th, 2005, 05:08 AM well, the OL has finally caught up on the fact that i am en route. no EDD though. oh well. haha. i know when the Isolde gets to Charleston, and I know how long it should be from there. now the only thing is to find something to keep busy with until then. :D rustyb Jun 16th, 2005, 12:39 PM well, the OL has finally caught up on the fact that i am en route. no EDD though. oh well. haha. i know when the Isolde gets to Charleston, and I know how long it should be from there. now the only thing is to find something to keep busy with until then. :D
I too am en route according to the OL. Pretty good, it only took them five days to reflect the fact that my MINI was loaded and headed for NJ on the 11th. Hang in there everyone, not too much longer. Jetstar, we are all looking forward to seeing pics of your 'vert soon, and we cannot thank you enough for the updated vessle info. dorianGray Jun 16th, 2005, 05:38 PM Hey JetStar- looks like the Trianon has landed!

SilverWolf,
Check the OL again, I just found out that I have an estimated delivery date (EDD) of June 21st. We shall see how close to reality this EDD is soon enough. :D dorianGray Jun 16th, 2005, 08:39 PM Great news, you guys should be taking delivery shortly!?!?!
Well, I sure hope so. The OL seems to think it will be at the dealer on the 17th (not sure if the ship landing a day later than planned will impact that).
Not sure how long it's going to take them to install the sport link and iPod adapter at the dealership, although I'd assume they'd rather get that done and have the money.
Here's hoping. jetstar1 Jun 16th, 2005, 09:13 PM From the W&W Web site. My car has arrived in the U.S. and has been honorably discharged:
DISCHARGED NEW YORK, NY 16/06/2005 08:00
LOADED ON VESSEL SOUTHAMPTON 07/06/2005 19:00
RECEIVED AT TERMINAL SOUTHAMPTON 04/06/2005 15:22
BOOKED SOUTHAMPTON 04/06/2005 14:22
8:00 a.m? Gee, I thought the boat was supposed to dock at 1:00 p.m. EST? She got in WAY early!
I guess my MINI is now in the hands of the VDC. :D
Of course the OL still has me as En Route-Estimated Delivery Date of June 17th :p
Dorian, has your car left the boat yet?
BTW: Trianon has left Jersey City. She's on her way to Baltimore and then Brunswick, GA. jetstar1 Jun 16th, 2005, 09:27 PM Swiped another link: this one for K-Line.

On the not-so-positive side, I got a phone message from my dealer's finance department today (trying to do their sales pitch), and the rep mentioned that my car was coming into port today and should be ready "in the next couple of weeks." That's a lot later than the 6/18 date listed in the Owners Lounge. Even though I know 6/18 isn't very realistic, I had hoped I wouldn't be waiting another two weeks.
Jetstar, has your MA estimated a delivery time for you? Lanfear Jun 16th, 2005, 10:35 PM Any Canadian folks out there expecting their MINI in July? My MCS is going for a swim across to Halifax on June 19th, and I'd like to know who some of the other 111 stowaways on the Don Pasquale are! :search: goofytruax Jun 16th, 2005, 10:47 PM So How long does a car stay in the paint shop? Also what are the plant hours, does it run 24/7? Do we have a post that says how long a Mini stays in each area? Ah waiting it is so painful. Must learn paitaints. jetstar1 Jun 16th, 2005, 11:57 PM The 8:00 a.m. docking time surprised me, too. But that is fine with me if it means my car will be here sooner.

Jetstar, has your MA estimated a delivery time for you?
My MA told me prior to the ship docking that he expected the car to be at the dealership "next Thursday or Friday." (June 23rd or June 24th) No hard date yet.
I think my dealership likes to add a "squish" factor to time estimates so customers don't go there and smack them upside their heads for missing a deadline. I have a gut feeling that the car will be ready on Tuesday. That's just me. I'm living in a delusional land!!
Goofy, you car can spend up to a couple of days in paint, then assembly and QC can take a day. Transport to Southampton can take between 2 hours to 6 hours after it's done. The Oxford plant is a 24/7 shop. If you're in paint, you should be done in no time. Probably by the weekend. goofytruax Jun 17th, 2005, 04:07 AM Thanks jet
they say it should be done saturday but of course I want it done today and on the boat yesterday and picked up from my deal a week ago. But since I have no time travel skills I will just obsess patiently. :D Threat Jun 17th, 2005, 12:41 PM Goofy you are about a week behind me. Mine was painted last weds and was at the dock by saturday. Its order status just changed today to En Route. HOORAY! My MA said they are having communications problems with BMW so he can't give me a better update until Monday. He did suggest I come in and drive a convertible S that they have coming in to "take the edge off' while I wait. How do I get the ship name?
Waiting seems so much worse when the car is actually made and you know where it is. Maybe thats just me. rustyb Jun 17th, 2005, 04:23 PM well, the OL has finally caught up on the fact that i am en route. no EDD though. oh well. haha. i know when the Isolde gets to Charleston, and I know how long it should be from there. now the only thing is to find something to keep busy with until then. :D
SilverWolf,
Have you checked for an EDD yet? I would wager that one was there by now, since our vehicles are on the same vessel. Not too much longer now... :p Johnny L Jun 17th, 2005, 04:42 PM Hey, all, just chiming in from the March. The June Thread seems to be growing some serious legs!

Johnny L,
Thanks for visiting. How has your experince been since receiving your MINI? We are all anxiously awaiting delivery days, and a few of us should be getting the keys and driving off into happiness next week. I have seen some threads discussing relatively common problems with MINIs (windshield damage, clutch noise, etc.), and was wondering what your personal experience has been.
Take care, and visit often :D jetstar1 Jun 17th, 2005, 05:23 PM Hey, all, just chiming in from the March. The June Thread seems to be growing some serious legs!

Johnny L :D Good to hear from you!!
Yes, please let us know about the motoring experience. DorianGray and I are at the VDC now. (our cars got off the boat yesterday.)
I'm resisting the urge to pick up the phone and pester my MA for more details on when my car will get on the truck and make the trip to Princeton! (OL still lists estimated delivery date as today!) :p Threat Jun 17th, 2005, 08:09 PM I combed the threads for a bit of self help on finding my ship and got lucky on the W&W site! I'm on the Mignon (left today) steaming towards Halifax, then to NY, Baltimore, and finally Charleston.
If anyone else is interested it's voyage EQ524-MIG, and ETA in Charleston is July 1 (I was hoping to get it before the holiday weekend, but no chance is that going to happen). Johnny L Jun 17th, 2005, 09:16 PM Jet and Rust (et al):
I have nothing but positive experiences to report about my '05 MCS. I have about 2600 miles right now and have already installed a 15% pulley and Alta CAI. While I live in CA, I bought my car in Salt Lake City at MINI of Murray (Sales Manager Debbie is terrific!). I was able to get my car in about 3 months instead of nearly a freakin' year!
I hear lots of noises coming from undernneath my car, but nothing that I'm worried about. There's a bit of clutch rattle, but I think that that's normal. There's a bit of "clank" that occurs just after shifting out of 1st into neutral (I have the a 6-speed manual), and there's a bit of whirring or mechanical noise when the steering wheel is turned all the way to the lock. The latter (or perhaps both) seems to be the LSD, and from what I've read, this is normal. I'm taking a wait-and-see approach.
Again, I'm not worried much about theres noises. I'm more worried if the car doesn't "feel" normal. Oh yeah, I'm worried if the car starts to smell funny, too!
Anyhoo, feel free to ask any questions. Hopefully, I can help. Take care, all! jetstar1 Jun 17th, 2005, 09:18 PM I combed the threads for a bit of self help on finding my ship and got lucky on the W&W site! Oh Threat, I'm sorry you had to comb through all the threads! I posted a bunch of links on this one. I think it's page 3 of our thread. There are links that will allow you to track the Mignon while she's at sea, provided she allows tracking. (Salix and Oceanweather.) They are pretty trick.
When we get our cars in, I think we should start a "Tracking for Newbies" thread, put in the links and the timeline of our cars. Anyone else game? I'll start it. | |
