5 6 7 8 9 Olly. Aug 9th, 2005, 01:07 PM taznuv - The guy at JCW told me that although the sound kit doesn't give any extra BHP it does give you much better throttle response and low down power.
Guess I'll have to wait until the 2nd to find out for definite :D :D taznuv Aug 9th, 2005, 01:31 PM cheers Olly, sounds promising Irlmin Aug 10th, 2005, 04:00 PM Anyone have a ' part number ' for the sound kit ?
Gerard Olly. Aug 16th, 2005, 04:11 PM Just phoned JCW again, to get the price confirmed - £715.50 inc VAT & Fitting.

You still doing the group buy thing? I've tried searching to see if there is a seperate thread (although I'm no expert on these things) and can't find it! jkh Aug 26th, 2005, 04:26 PM Has anyone, anywhere had the JCW Sound Kit installed on a CVT Cooper? MINIUSA seems to be unsure about whether or not they will approve (i.e., provide warranty coverage for) its installation on a CVT, even though their part number descriptions and installation instructions clearly contemplate its installation on a CVT-equipped Cooper. Any issues encountered anywhere else in the MINI universe? RICO UK Aug 26th, 2005, 09:15 PM Here's a question, I already own a JCW cooper an 04 model, now can I get the 05 JCW kit fitted to mine, baring in mind it already has the ECU remap. I goes like the clappers but I would love it to sound a wee bit more throaty. Or would | just be better getting a K&N fitted? Olly. Aug 26th, 2005, 11:01 PM Dunno, it might be worth a call to JCW to see what they recommend? roc888 Oct 6th, 2005, 09:55 PM HI,
Is the group buy still happening ?
Any news ?
Thanks.
Alex Simon James Oct 7th, 2005, 08:23 PM Hey....RIKO UK has nicked my avitar.....
You've only gotta ask i'll do you one... :)
Ah well....imitation,flattery and all that... ItHurts Oct 8th, 2005, 10:30 AM Mate, group buy fell flat due to lack of comittment / interest etc. snuffy Oct 10th, 2005, 01:23 PM I'm sure they'd be a few more people interested in a group buy if it was under the £700 mark? Anyone brave enough to try it again? Olly. Oct 10th, 2005, 06:09 PM Depends how much you can get off really, its a new product so will be in high demand at the moment. If they only drop it to £700 its hardly worth all the admin effort just to save £15 roc888 Oct 10th, 2005, 10:13 PM Hi,
Has any cooper owners from London had the JCW cooper sound pack installed recently ?
If so, how much and from which London dealer ?
Thanks.

well I didn't mean £699 or something ;) You know what I meant! :-)
Anyway, my local dealer wanted £814 to fit it :o :D Olly. Oct 11th, 2005, 10:26 AM well I didn't mean £699 or something ;) You know what I meant! :-)

Cheeky stealers, adding £100 directly to their profit margins!
You could try getting the JCW quote and getting your dealers to match it. Mentioning MINI2 in these sort of situations always helps their decision making ;) Pinball Oct 12th, 2005, 09:16 PM I spoke to JCW Garages 5 days ago and they quoted me £715.50 inc fitting. It takes about 1 hour to do.
I have also got a quote from my local dealer as they are now selling it as of next week, and they told me £747.23 inc fitting etc.. Slightly higher as BMW labour is dearer than the JCW hourly rate. But it still works out cheaper for me, as I'd have to drive all the way down to JCW for the work to be done, so I am going to go to my dealer. nanoooo Oct 12th, 2005, 09:38 PM but mate just think about... do you want some apprentice that aint fitted this kit before @ your local garage fittin the kit or leave it to the professionals down in jcg rinos69 Oct 12th, 2005, 11:15 PM nanooo, if i had to choose i'd go to jcg only for a matter of 'experience'
we are talking of an air filter, a remap and a silencer... it's not soooo difficult!! roc888 Oct 13th, 2005, 10:02 AM HI,
London dealers are more expensive. I am paying £786 to have the JCW sound kit installed. It too much hassle driving to Sussex to save £70. When you minus the cost of petrol to Sussex and back, the saving is minimal.
I am surprised that I have not heard any people from London on this forum having the sound kit installed. I thought there are a lot of mini owners in London.

There aren't many people in the country that have had the kit installed. It is only just starting to be available at the dealers. ;) roc888 Oct 13th, 2005, 06:54 PM There aren't many people in the country that have had the kit installed. It is only just starting to be available at the dealers. ;)
Hi Ollymale,
That is good what you said.
I will have the loudest cooper in London !
Have you had yours fitted yet ?
Alex Olly. Oct 13th, 2005, 10:43 PM Have you had yours fitted yet ?
Certainly have, had it fitted at the beginning of september.
I think its a really good kit:cool: grand_cru Oct 13th, 2005, 11:03 PM Nice to hear that Olly,
I will have my soundkit fitted at JCG (yes, in East Preston) on november 2nd.
Not that I don't trust my Belgian dealer - who has by the way NO experience with the new Sound kit at all - but got a good quote from JCG and a much better deal (timing + little delay). Belgian price equals £ 760, excl. fitting, so add another £ 130 for that. I planned a nice 2-day trip with B&B and my first test drive will be on "English south-east soil".
Greetz,
Jan Olly. Oct 13th, 2005, 11:15 PM Oh cool, I had mine fitted at JGC garages as well. I didn't travel quite as far as you, but still a 300 odd mile trip.
When I left the garage you turn right over a train crossing then come to a roundabout as you come off this you go onto a dual carriageway. This is where I first heard the new air filter screaming!!! Such a great noise.
Let us know what you think when you have it fitted. Olly. Oct 13th, 2005, 11:17 PM Check out my review of the kit...... http://www.mini2.com/forum/showthread.php?t=99572
It has before and after sound clips...... grand_cru Oct 13th, 2005, 11:27 PM Oh cool, I had mine fitted at JGC garages as well. I didn't travel quite as far as you, but still a 300 odd mile trip.
As I'm living in the "far west" of Flanders, it's not such a big deal for me. Takes only 300 km. (excluding channel tunnel) for me, Olly.
I have a few more questions:
- Didn't it take a few km/miles for the exhaust to burn in, so did you hear any difference or changing in sound since it has been fitted?
- What about the pieces they remove (exhaust, CAI), did you take them with you?
BTW, nice review, but I allready read it on Motoringfile
Thanks and nice hearing from you.:D

I guess I should have given the exhuast a bit more time to settle, but I was like a kid at christmas I just couldn't wait:D :D It did kick off a bit of stink for a good couple of days after it was installed. Everything has returned to normal now though. I haven't noticed any difference since i've had it fitted, still sounds the same as when it was bolted on.
I didn't take any of the pieces with me. The way I thought about it was all facelifted coopers are still in warranty, so knowone will be needing replacement parts yet. Also I have never heard of an exhaust going on a MINI, so I doubted anybody would want that. grand_cru Oct 14th, 2005, 06:40 AM I didn't take any of the pieces with me. Think that's right mate. And one of the reasons for choosing JCW parts.
And that sound of course :D :D :D matrog Oct 21st, 2005, 05:24 PM Glad to hear you're still happy with it Olly.
Going in to my dealers tomorrow, so will ask how much they charge.
Also going to my grans, so will call in at the dealer near her house for a comparison | |
