Actually thinking about it your dealer didn't have any trouble getting the kit did they?

Only reason I ask is I need a new exhaust (its rattles really badly at the moment) My dealer can't seem to get an exhaust for me, its taken 6 weeks now

Maybe there just a bit peeved that I went to JCW to have it fitted rather than giving them any money:rolleyes:
The dealer I went to had it in stock to go straight onto the car
I know my local dealer also had it in stock

had jcw sound kit fitted 2 days ago cost £750 from local mini dealer, its a bit steep for the component parts but it looks sounds and works fine.
the only problem was with my insurance, had this prick on the phone trying to tell him what it was i had done this clown didn't know what the f*** i was on about was going to charge me the earth for it.
"youv'e now got a cooper s turbo charged....." no i avent.... yes you have he said, and your wife (who organised the work droping off and picking up etc) can no longer drive it on her licence.
calmly we re told this joker.." basicly its a cooooooper with a new exhaust ..air fliter and at most 5hp added to its 115 how can you add £500 for that i only pay £170 now!
"nooo " said the out of work childrens party entertainer "turbo this turbo that rocket car..blah.. blah... wife cant drive it shes a girl needs hgv licence blah... blab..."
so we dumped him sharpish any one else had insurance problems with this kit?

Was told I wasn't allowed any modifications on my insurance with the kit fitted. when am i having it done?
"Well, it was fitted yesterday" was the reply :p

So, quickly searched for another insurance company, as i wanted to drive it in 30mins time, and paid over £100 LESS than I had paid before. CRAZY!

Thats one of the main reasons why I didn't have it done. None of the major insurance companies had heard of it. I complained to MINI UK that MINI Insurance didn't know about it, but they assured me they did, but the pleb on the other end of the phone still denied all knowledge of the kit and proceeded to individually add the air filter, exhaust etc which was another 300 quid ontop of their already inflated prices. I gave them a miss and got insured elsewhere, safe in the knowledge that I saved on the insurance, still have 700 quid in my pocket and eagerly looking for a new car with that money saved ;)

i dindt think you had to worry about insurances as it was less than 10% power increase?

From a press release out today:

As many MINI owners know, the Cooper name is synonymous with motorsport and the new John Cooper Works sound kit allows them to make their MINI Coopers sound like racing cars. The kit includes a new air filter to provide a direct acoustic connection from the engine compartment to the car’s interior creating a more powerful, sporty sound for the driver.

This has been achieved by reducing the air flow resistance in the air filter element together with modified engine electronics and a stainless steel sports exhaust that runs from the manifold pipe down to the rear silencer. The price is £645 (excl. fitting) and includes a John Cooper Works engine badge and emblem for the boot lid.

Obviously dealers can charge their own prices etc, but thought that might help when I saw the title of this thread.

I saw the release, which is why I couldn't understqnd how Damon Hill could charge £599 fitted, incl VAT

I personally think this statement is a bit over the top -

'John Cooper Works sound kit allows them to make their MINI Coopers sound like racing cars'

It sounds awesome but it doesn't sound like a racer IMO

Hello from Texas.

I just wanted to say that I'm the proud owner of JCW Sound Kit D75. I'm the only one in Dallas, and probably the only one in Texas to have the Sound Kit. Most of the US tuners dislike this upgrade, mostly because it's all about the most HP for the least amount of cash.

I paid retail and let the local dealer install it. Expensive, but worth every penny!!

I was probably one of the first in California with the Sound Kit. It was installed in October on my new 2006 MCC before I took delivery of the car. After I told my MA to add it in, the person at the dealership who was supposed to order the kit called me to say that she never heard of it and wasn't convinced such a thing existed! I finally had her go on the MINIUSA website configurator and showed her where it was listed.

I think the Sound Kit is fantastic, and I enjoy it every time I drive the car.
