Starting the July 05 production group. Here we go! I received my MCS production number on 5/25 for week 27 production. According to Lisa at Baron, that places my order in the 2nd week July build time frame with delivery in early to mid-August. The on-order status finally showed up on the owners lounge yesterday. It's missing the anthricite headliner that I changed at the last minute, as the order went into the system. I hope it makes production. I will call Baron tomorrow to verify they made the change.

Welcome to everyone in the July and August boats! This is my second ordering adventure after going through this with my 03 MCS. It's a lot of fun if not a bit nerve-racking.

I got a call from my dealer today and he said my MC will be build in the first July week (27th week) as well. I'm so excited. He said 2 weeks later I'll get her... I warned my colleagues at work already that I'll be on holiday beginning mid-July :D

i placed my '05 mini s order last month for a july production and a late augost delivery, did it via fax machine. put down my $2K deposit, told my dealer what i wanted, and that is it. haven't heard any word from them. i tried e-mailing my sales guy but he hasn't replied, 2 days and counting..... hope he wasn't fired or anything, haha.... my dealer dude told me that i have till production in july to make any changes, so i am going to call up soon and make sure everything is right and get a production # from the ba@@ards. should i be worried that i haven't herd anything from my dealer?
I am fairly certain i am going to have a pepper white with black top, bonnet stripes, lsd, crono pack, cruise steering wheel, hk stereo, sports package, arm rest (good for those long drives) then going to get some nice anthracite aftermarket wheels, areo grill only, and will install the side skirts only... maybe next year will have a dealer instaled 15% pulley... may change the color to the dark grey black top with black bonnet..... anyone know if the auto AC is worth it, besides it looking coool?? and i don't think i need a sun roof, i have had one in my past 2 cars and never used them, plus $800, no thanks, although it is nice to be able to stare at the stars while i drive ;o)

willymcd,

Give your dealer a ring. They should have your production number now. Register your production number on MINIUSA in the owners lounge to double check your order is correct.

I'd recommend going aftermarket on the pulley and save some $$$. Check out Randy Webb's site http://www.webbmotorsports.com/ for a bullit-proof install.

Two things I didn't order on my '05 were the auto air and the sunroof. I never really cared for the auto air in my '03. I like the idea of tuning a knob on the panel and putting the air exactly where I want it. The sunroof is pretty neat and lets a lot of light into the cabin but the goofy perf shade is worthless for keeping sol out of my eyes. At 6'5" I need the extra headroom for a Helmut for club track work. Wow, you can save a bundle by opting out of those two items.

Your spec sounds great. I almost went for the pepper white and black myself. Dark Silver and Hyper Blue seem pretty common on the '05s. You will really like the HK. With the Alta 15% pulley, Evotech software flash and a larger rear sway bar, you will be shocked at what a real super car you have. They are amazing.

I speced mine in Liquid Yellow and White with bonnet stripes. Mainly because the yellow is easily seen on the road, doesn't show dirt too bad and the white top helps keep things cooler in the Kansas 100+F summers. I went for the sport, cold and convenience pkgs. Also silver S-Lites, MFSW, rear fog, on board computer, int chrome pkg on anthracite with anthracite headliner, (it's going to be really dark in there) panther black leatherette. Thought about the chrono but it's a MINI so had to stick to tradition. You get used to the center speedo in no time. Forget the Nav at $1700. LSD owners reporting noisy units and some scary problems so I'm staying away from that. Baron is installing the clear bra invisashield on the bonnet and bumper to help with meteor impacts. I plan on adding the aero grill and skirts later.

Keep us posted on your status. :D :yellow:

i talked to my dealer today, asked him about my production number, he said he didn't have one, not until my mini actual starts production!!! I think they must wait till the last minute to register to-be-built mini's or something?? I forgot to ask him again to confirm that i am in the July production... i asked him a good 10 times before during and after i put down my deposit, so i think that i should be... then he told me that just aero side skirts cost $1000 after paint and installation, $2900 for the whole aero, so i will not be having the dealer deal with that and will go to a nice paint shop.
the reason i will have the reduction pulley installed by a dealer, which will cost probably $200 more then normal is so i can retain my warranty! some of the dealers have deals with minimania.com and warranty the cars with dealer installed minimania parts. The only other thing i think i am going to have the dealer do is put the roof rack system on, hope they can do it quick to save me $$. i am going to install the auxiliary input myself to avoid more dealer charges.
brighter colors are better for not showing dirt and scuffs, i have a black 95 Audi S6 now and man does the thing look like crap when the paint goes bad, and or gets dirts, so i am staying away from black now on... your yellow mini will be sweet, i was thinking of getting a yellow black mini, and trying to give it a honey bee theme...
I think the only problem with the LSD is a bit of noise when doing tight turns in slow situations. I have a 93 4runner and man does that thing make a racket when you turn the wheel tight. I think that the LSD noise is normal, i think it makes the noise because of the tight turning radius and that the inside wheel is revolving slower and the outside faster, and this is what a LSD is supposed to prevent wheels spinning at different speeds to a certain degree, so something has to give right? anyways I'm willing to deal with that noise for the performance and traction benefits, as long as it is just a noise! I've looked through the forums, but have you herd of a LSD failing?? the only thing i am worried about are interior squeaks, and the dreaded ticking noise, perhaps caused by faulty harmonic dampeners...
i have heated seats in my Audi the only people who use them are girls, they like to get their butts nice and toasty, i never use them, so i am going to save myself $300, wish i could get the heated washer nozzles though..

willymcd,

I took a last minute chance and changed my order to include the LSD. No one has mentioned it failing that I can find. My buddy with a highly modified 02 MCS insists that the LSD is a must have option and it's a noticeable improvement over non-LSD cars. The positive comments outweigh the little bit of noise everyone seems to be complaining about. I figure since the last January debut of LSD, there should have been time to sort out most of the issues. It's only another 500 bucks right? It's just money. I also switched to the performance run flats instead of the all season Goodyears, which I hated on my '03. The performance tires will wear out faster so I can upgrade to a set of lighter, grippier and better handling Yokohama non-run flats. I got the Cold WX package again mainly for the mirrors and washers. The hot seat is reserved for passenger use as I don't use it much myself either.

I'm also checking with a Canadian MINI dealer about buying a set of their awesome (unavailable in USA) rubber floor mats. These guys are heavy duty and the pattern mimics the HVAC knobs. Too bad MINIUSA doesn't offer these.

I ordered my MINI from the MINI Center in San Antonio (Texas) on June 4th. I received my production from them on June 6th. Still in the "On Order, Scheduled for Production with no estimated Date" stage. Is there a chance it could be built in June, or am I in the July Production Group as well?

It's hard to say when the build date is set but I think the production date has a lot to do with your dealer's monthly allocation. My dealer is expecting 6 weeks to production from the date the order is accepted by MINI. Call your MA or MINI USA to find out what production week is set for your build. My car is set for week 27 which is the second week of July for reference.

I finally got a chance to call in, and I was told I am in the same timeframe as all of you, week 27. Lucky for me, I will be out of town all of July, so it will make the wait go by a little faster  .

Congrats on your just ordered MCS. July build MINIs are due to arrive in the States late July and early August. With shipping to AUS, it may very well be September before you take delivery. It seems like the delay will be the extended sea voyage. I used my '03 MCS on track day at Heartland Park Topeka last year. It was a fantastic experience and you meet the nicest folks in a MINI. You just don't find many grumpy MINI drivers.

Just got word from ASK MINI that my car entered production today. It is due to be completed on June 27th??? I'm not sure how it takes 11 days to run through the build process. Anyone out there know the typical time frame involved in the mfg process or am I missing something here?

Go Yellow! You will be seen by that 18 wheeler before he pulls into your lane to pass. Hey, you have a high performance car, get a high performace color. You can't regret a cheerful color like liquid yellow.

question about order details in mini owners lounge? when it describes your mini does it mention what color your roof is? or does it just say the main body color?

It only lists the main body color. It also lists the bonnet striped color if you opt for it. My stripes were listed as white so I knew the top and mirrors had to be white too. I wasn't too worried about it. Another thing that bothered me is that it didn't list my anthracite headliner. I called my MA at Baron and she emailed a copy of the "Vehicle Inquiry: Design/MSRP" document from MINI. Everything was perfectly detailed as ordered so I am a happy camper. My car is in the paint shop today and hopefully it will be on the docks at Southampton on Monday.

This, I believe, is a liquid cooled inter-cooler from Webb Motorsports. It is one wicked fast MINI! This car spends a great deal of time on the track testing go-fast products.

I've ordered my MCS with production to be completed by July 15 (which week is that)? After checking the details in the owners lounge, my specs were all wrong. I contacted Ask mini and yep, my dealer had put in the wrong information (actually, he'd only put in 2/3rds of the information).

Have other people had this happen to them? I guess I'll have to wait a day or two and check if they have the updated details.

And the specs are:

Black with black roof
White stripes and checker board sunroof
chrome exterior
Anthracite interior and head liner
Chrome interior
Premium, Sports and Cold weather packages
Nav System
rear fog lamp
LSD
Center Armrest

Couldn't resist joining in the fun (or should that be agony)....

Ordered mine from South Bay MINI June 10th with a July build date, end August/early Sept delivery date. I have a production number but the lounge still says On Order and ASK-MINI says 'scheduled for production but with no date'. I promised myself I wouldn't check both every day - so I'm checking it every half-day instead :)

MCS Convertible
Dark Silver
Conv Package
DSC
Chrome Exterior
OBC
Cloth seats
16" performance wheels

I have a fairly well spec'd 02 MCS right now and decided that I didn't want many of the items in a future MINI so this one is maybe not as spiffy as it might be. But I can't wait until its here!

I ordered my MC in May and its just entering production due to the dealer having to wait for one of their allocated MINIs to open up. The scheduled completion date is July 2nd and I expect delivery in early/mid August. I can hardly wait! According to the rep at ASK-MINI, the build time is about three to four days, depending on color and options. I've heard that the two-tone roof takes an extra day or two.

My MC (Nigel) was completed on July 1!!!!! :D

Is there anyone else with a similar build date on the west coast? I am in Oregon so I know it will still be a long wait, but am hoping for mid August (fingers crossed). Hoping there is someone out there to share the agony with, my family is starting to think I'm certifiable!!! This is my first MINI so the wait is killing me.....

After much agony I found out that my MCS which I orderd on May 7th from Baron MINI in KC started being produced on June 29th and being finished on July 8th. This has just been pure hell for me. I am by nature an extrmely impatient person so this hasn't been good for the nerves. I too have also been driving everyone near me udderly insane so that I wouldn't be alone in my maddness. :)
