Hey Guys!

I have a New 05 Cooper S with the stock exhaust and a Rouge cold air intake. As you know th new models have a "popping" sound when the engine is under load. Im thinking of replacing the stock exhaust for a Borla, and I'm wondering if the "popping" sound will disappear if I do this. Does anyone know if this is a part of the exhaust system? Does the noise come from the Cat? When I added the intake it "amplified" the sound more. If the noise is not part of the exhaust will it amplify it even more?

Didn't on mine and any of a large number of other MINIs I've heard with aftermarket systems.

Every aftermarket system I've heard just amplifies it, that applies to all MCS models, not just '05.

Indeed, my '04 pops like a gud'en.

My wife's new 05 MCS pops but my 04 doesn't. The only mod currently on it is an ECU remap by the German company who must not be named. Could the remap be the cause of my non-popping exhaust?
